- hakz, on 09/21/2009, -0/+153From a tesco representative:
"'Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda and Luke Skywalker all appeared hoodless without ever going over to the Dark Side and we are only aware of the Emperor as one who never removed his hood. If Jedi walk around our stores with their hoods on, they'll miss lots of special offers."
Guy knows his star wars. - diggB, on 09/21/2009, -0/+84You could say he was Forced out.
- publiclurker, on 09/21/2009, -0/+46the force is strong with this one.
- Bukowsky, on 09/21/2009, -1/+42Classic line from the Store Manager - 'If Jedi walk around our stores with their hoods on, they'll miss lots of special offers.'
- mogebier, on 09/21/2009, -2/+38The poster over at Topless Robot seems to have some sand in his vagina about something.
- koolandthegang, on 09/21/2009, -0/+34A *real" Jedi can make a suggestion that he's not wearing a hood.
- Truedirt, on 09/21/2009, -0/+32Watch out for lighting strikes at that TESCO store.
- Hetman, on 09/21/2009, -4/+36There not going to kick a muslim out for wearing a full burka, why kick a dewd out with a hood on. Regardless of if it is for religious reasons or not. Seriously if someone wanted to rob your store they could just dress in a burka and do it.
- ileftfark, on 09/21/2009, -2/+31Meh, other religions have been founded on lesser stories.
- JesseJ, on 09/21/2009, -2/+30You mean the story with that woman that is made from a ribcage who eats an apple she gets from a talking snake and then later the dude walks on water who becomes a zombie and then you can drink his blood and you are forgiven because you're a sinner because the woman ate the apple?
Or the one with the giant turtle? - CaptCarrot, on 09/21/2009, -1/+28"Jedi" isn't a religion, its a bunch of ***** nerds that wanted special treatment for being nerds.
----
Dare ya to go tell that to the Scientologists. :) - DouglasQ, on 09/21/2009, -0/+25Tesco - You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy
- JasonQpublic, on 09/21/2009, -2/+26Love it. I may start my own "Xena: Warrior Princess" religion.
- MizuhoChan, on 09/22/2009, -0/+24These are the special offers you're looking for.
- publiclurker, on 09/21/2009, -2/+26Who are you to determine what is a true religion and what isn't?
- AndrewDB, on 09/21/2009, -1/+24I find the Jedi's lack of acknowledging sales... disturbing.
- Eurynom0s, on 09/21/2009, -1/+20The guy who wrote that is a whiny bitch. OH NOEZ THE RELIGION WAS FOUNDED FIVE YEARS AGO. It's like listening to Christians complaining about how crazy Scientology is. POT MEET KETTLE
- DOCNM, on 09/21/2009, -0/+16You know how a bunch of people went and made "Christianity" an official religion in Judea? I never could decide if those guys were just fun-loving nerds or out of their goddamn minds.
- Kronos6948, on 09/21/2009, -0/+15Now we know what store Chad Vader works in.
- fury420, on 09/21/2009, -0/+14I've always been partial towards the giant turtle myself....
- Xzelick, on 09/21/2009, -3/+17I'm not a big fan of star wars but I side with the Jedi dude. His right to wear his hood is just as legit as the people wearing burkhas(sp?) , turbans, and babooshkas (sp?).
- Crimsoneer, on 09/21/2009, -3/+15Frankly, I think his law suit is just a lot of lightsaber rattling on his part.
- waydee, on 09/22/2009, -0/+12or 0.8% think its funny to state their religion as Jedi.
- CaptCarrot, on 09/21/2009, -0/+11Ooh, can I be an acolyte?
- aychseven, on 09/22/2009, -0/+11i'd kick your ass out of the store for spelling it "dewd"
- planetexpress, on 09/21/2009, -3/+12They do? I've never heard of a case of people being kicked out of a store for wearing the full Burkha. A quick Google turned up good reasons to kick them out of a store because there's people using them for cover ( http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1209006/Je ... ). But i can't see anything saying that they've been kicked out of a shop.
- inactive, on 09/21/2009, -0/+8boy! You sure showed all those people who believe in something different thant you! You have proven your superiority over people who believe in a higher power!
No wonder why you are a LONE marauder. Get used to that. - koolandthegang, on 09/21/2009, -0/+8somehow I knew that Polish women would be brought into this.
- staulkor, on 09/21/2009, -1/+8So what makes this any different than someone wearing any other religious garment? Will a Muslim, Sikh, Monk, etc. be asked to remove whatever? Who cares if the Jedi religion is only 5 years old. All religions claim to be the only true word of god.
And as an aside, I am all for private enterprises having their own rules for their property, but this is a little ridiculous. Sounds like they are back in high school and teachers telling students to remove their hat, - Puppytwo, on 09/21/2009, -0/+7can i be her reproductive organs
- TrevorBelmont, on 09/22/2009, -0/+7Tesco doesn't like you. I don't like you, either!
- aargh01, on 09/21/2009, -0/+7Don't you know? It's turtles, all the way down.
- BobSutan, on 09/21/2009, -0/+7In all seriousness he's got a case. Swap Jedi for Muslim and Robe for Burka and you'll see why. Now is what they did a laughing matter?
- yocouchdigga, on 09/21/2009, -1/+7I like the one with the stripper factory and the beer volcanoes, it's really the only plausible one out of the whole bunch.
- Ninh, on 09/21/2009, -0/+6Boobkas?
- glaz, on 09/22/2009, -0/+6There is an extremely important and highly relevant story to be taken from this article and I'm not talking about The Empire Strikes Back. The special treatment given to religious minorities in the UK, specifically the Muslim community, has afforded them benefits which are both unneccessary and out of whack with their fellow non-Muslim citizens. If one can argue that Muslims can cover their faces despite the protest of the majority, then there is simply no reason not to afford this special treatment to other people. It is a dangerous precedent.
- TheSabre, on 09/22/2009, -1/+6Religions based on movies, religions based on books; they are all the same.
- beerhound, on 09/22/2009, -0/+5I knew a Jedi Mind Trick reference was coming. You don't disappoint sir. Dugg
- chriswastaken, on 10/27/2009, -0/+5Jedi's don't use force lightning.
- Ninh, on 09/21/2009, -0/+5Well I guess any religions who can present a practitioner who can perform miracles for an audience of sceptics would be considered real. The rest are just made up.
- m0llusk, on 09/21/2009, -0/+5There once was a Jedi from Caergybi ...
- brucealmighty, on 09/21/2009, -0/+4See what can happen when yer Mom goes out and forgets to lock the basement door to your room....!
- DarkMatter911, on 09/21/2009, -0/+4Really?
"Christian hoteliers charged after argument with Muslim guest...The guest complained to police and the couple were charged under the 1986 Public Order Act - with using "threatening, abusive or insulting words" which were "religiously aggravated"."
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/christi ...
If you can't argue with muslim's in the UK how can you kick them out of a store? - sndream, on 09/21/2009, -1/+5"if you're going to make up a goofy ass religion based on a series of popular science fiction films"
At least the fiction he based his religion on does not promote mass genocide. Can't say the same for a few other large religion. - Krakerjax, on 09/22/2009, -3/+7Actually, yeah it still is. You know why? Because Muslim religion is thousands of years old and fairly well structured. This idiots religion is 5 years old and based on some movies.
FFS, their Jedi code/creed is a prayer originally attributed to St. Francis, modified to fit their needs. - banski, on 09/21/2009, -1/+4In England and Wales 390,127 people (almost 0.8 percent) stated their religion as Jedi on their 2001 Census forms
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jedi_census_phenomeno ... - iDiggYa, on 09/22/2009, -0/+3*too
- sierrabravo, on 09/22/2009, -0/+3Han shot first!!
- rocknog, on 09/22/2009, -0/+3Personally, I believe in a higher standard of right and wrong than the law. Just because something is legal does not make it right.
