- The_Wallbanger, on 10/10/2007, -5/+123Ugh, my allergies.
- esotericguy, on 10/10/2007, -3/+103They only look like that for a very short while and only in isolated spots. The hills are usually just brown. Still a site worth seeing though.
- renzien, on 10/10/2007, -2/+87I'd love a high resolution copy.
- mattfugitive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+45..the world on acid?
- HBNDonut, on 10/10/2007, -3/+41Reminds me of that D12 video...

- DrawingTheSun, on 10/10/2007, -4/+34WTF?
"too good to be true" seriously, what is this guy talking about?
Its a bunch of flowers in an over saturated small photograph, what's so great about this? - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+22What, the version shot w/ the 1.0 megapixel isn't doing it for you?
- monkeyboyhero, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16I can't understand why so much stuff that gets passed round on fwd:fwd:fwd:fwd:fwd emails is appearing on the front page of Digg at the moment. Did our mums suddenly all by PCs or something?
- Chubakkaz, on 10/10/2007, -2/+15I get a feeling that the saturation has been bumped up a lot, nevertheless ,very nice :]
- Sabretou, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13And once again, Snopes saves the day.
- TacticalPenguin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11Thats not even 1mp, its barely 0.3mp.
- mancat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10he's on acid.
- moofer, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11Driving over the Tehachapi pass during that time of year gets quite the collection of bugs (mostly bees) on the windshield. If you can manage to see out of the glass, it's cool to catch the windmill farms up there surrounded by all the flowers.
- ChessPieceFace, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10One should also check out the Poppy Reserve. It's down the hill from Tehachapi, near Lancaster. Gorgeous in the springtime.
- mookiemookie, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10I grew up around there and can assure you that's how it really is.
- Tikkimann, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11I've been so many places
I've seen so many faces
But nothing compares
To these blue and yellow purple Hills
I climbed the highest mountain
Once or twice but who's countin'
But nothing compares
To these blue and yellow purple Hills... - tnvwboy, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11Have you all not yet watched the Planet Earth series (or many other photo essays on the net)? The Earth has many wondrous sights that are difficult to fathom. Just because it doesn't look like our backyards (how many of us live in cities that are visual blights?) doesn't mean it's "Shopped".
- Sparkster185, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10Or it's a site, as in a place, that's worth seeing.
- tincansandtwine, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8There are only three words in your statement, but they all make me frustrated at how far the reaches of human stupidity and asininity can go. ***** you, sir, get an education.
- moofer, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8it wasn't funny the first time.
- bIuebonics, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6because, while a real picture... it's been greatly enhanced. there are contrast adjustments and level adjustments, to say the least.
- shiftyroach, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6finally someone with some brains
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6no, its always been called purple pills. purple hills is the radio version.
- FloppyLlamaDigg, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Mort Goldman?
- eexlebots, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6What the hell is wrong with you?
- Nurjle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I've just checked out the histograms across the colour channels of the pic in Photoshop. It definitely HAS been saturated, but not outrageously.
To be fair, the modifications made probably result in something that at least _feels_ closer to what the human eye actually perceives. So, no harm, no foul. - cruzlee, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Visit the flora in the Netherlands if you like this. Flowers as far as the eye can see. And in the netherlands, the eye can see very far.
- brundlefly76, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Beautiful - but probably just as beautiful without pumping the hell out of the saturation.
- diggydougie, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Beauty is fleeting. That's why we take pictures.
- Thumper13, on 10/10/2007, -7/+11and yours goes a long way toward improving that.
- Schmidtopolis, on 10/10/2007, -6/+9Seriously though, if a the pic can fit on my 1024x768 resolution, how can I really decide? HD that noise.
- theholycow, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6We could tell, and so could the submitter. The first clue was the .jpg file extension, which usually means a picture and not text or code.
Further, the submitter tells us for sure that it's a _photograph_ by including " This is a photograph showing a ...", so we even know how the pic was made -- with a camera. The headline specifies that it's a pic with "[pic]" and leads with the rhetorical question of whether or not it's a painting, used merely to make the point that it's a photograph that looks like a painting.
Perhaps, crackah, you should lay off of the crack a bit, as it seems to be affecting your iq in a negative way.
You are a dumbass. QED. - moofer, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Wonder why he isn't suing YouTube for illegally distributing his video.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I'm from there. Yes, once a year the wildflowers come out and it looks just like that. They last about a week. It makes for a nice Sunday drive.
- notmiya, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I would love to smoke there
- Alexio, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Wow, Tehachapi is like the most unheard of place ever but I've been there! The second time I went to america I think, I went there. The poppy reserve there looks as awesome as this picture. Such a small world.
- donotdigg, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Bob Ross.
You're welcome... - jasegruver, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Go to flickr.com......type in "Tehachapi flowers"
Several results, including the picture that is linked to here, that would support that this is a real picture, by a bad photographer. - ldkronos, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Also, Bob Ross was a painter.
- zdiggler, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I ran into a place like that in bay area hiking around near niles not as much flowers as the pictures but there was plant on valley like that the beauty only lasts for like 10 days and all the flower dies and hill turn brown as hot dry summer rolls in.
- skyfire1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Let me guess... Yes! I didn't peek.
- obxjdt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Too small, some parts look like a painting, others look real. I'd have to see a larger image...
- Davisourus, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2http://maps.google.com/maps?q=35.230267,-119.738167
Google Maps agrees with you. Generally brown. Still... I maintain that this is a government conspiracy. It's more fun that way. - Richandler, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Nice to see digg turning into a place to ask questions about pictures....
- xister, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Maybe...
- andy3109, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I'm not defending him, but what does an education have to do with liking flowers?
- nubnub, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2http://www.snopes.com/photos/natural/flowers.asp
- gonzo1773, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Very pretty. Im usually disappointed with Californias short "green season" but this is a very nice site (at least for a little while).
- Radionesiac, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1earth is so beautiful
