- RaysinX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22I think i've become jaded, I'm not impressed because it can't hover.
- LordSkywalker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Does Sony have a "Brewster's Millions" thing secretly going on that we don't know about? It's like they want to fail and lose as much money as possible. And they also succeed in designing a lazy-ass-bastard version of a skateboard that lets people move even less.
- oskite, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15"balance-steered skateboard"
as opposed to... - Louis11, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Call up Mattel, they supplied them to Marty.
- LDawg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Still got 8 years before those are out for sure... (2015)
- MackPrime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7IT HAS A CELL PROCESSOR.
- kmusser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6i couldn't agree more. Moar hovering... just not on water. "hover boards don't work without powah!!"
- StarCrusher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I can understand Sony wanting to get into the lucrative Segway market. You see thousands of Segway's cruising to work, patrolling the malls every day. It isn't like many countries have banned them, right?
/sarcasm mode off/ - Teaboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I can skate, but I get the feeling I won't be able to skate on something like that. I sure couldn't kickflip on it!
- ricree, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Either way, it looks like no mr fusion :(
That would really come in handy for us about now. - desmondregan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4WTF THIS THING CAME OUT 2 OR 3 YEARS AGO LOOK

Here is the video
http://www.techeblog.com/index.php/tech-gadget/self-balancing-electric-skateboard - flamingmb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2so its a segway with less stability?
- ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Can Sony ever come out with an original idea? All they seem to do is steal everyone else's ideas and "improve" upon them.
(ex. Wiimote, Xbox Live, etc.) - uberlord, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Barely anyone skates for transportation... most do it for sports or to be cool... now why would anyone choose this over a segway?
I might consider it if it were 2,000 USD cheaper and it wasn't made by Sony - I mean, their electronics are finnicky at best - there's no way I'm going to see if this thing can hold my weight, or any weight over around 10lbs... - Junkey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Segway without the handles, but I bet it will cost 2x as much.
- idc5, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2hey maybe it may out sell the playstation 3!
j/k - WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2And remember...Sony ....is the company that gave us the DRM scandal, with all those rootkits. Then they were sued by at least three states in the US. (SONY-BMG, their music division, is a member of the much-loved RIAA)
Even if companies like Sony (or Exxon) put out a hoverboard, I STILL would NOT buy it.
(But I might do everything i could to make everyone get them for free!)
Don't let the corporate pigs fool you again! - Louis11, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3It's a carrot.
- mindsnare, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1hah exactly
- techmaster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm sure it will have a built-in blu-ray player, which will drive the costs up to about $10,000 which is twice the price of the competing Segway.
- Vladk1000, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3What's up with his nose?
- Mactard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Will the batteries blow up?
- PueSi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I wouldn't buy it because of the risk of explosion.
- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1After all, it's just a glorified two-position, variable speed, center-off, rocker switch!
Press with your toe, you go forward, lean forward more, it goes faster and keeps you upright, same in the back...lean back, it slows down, lean way back, it might even go backwards ... (not sure of this???)
What I would like to see is a skateboard with a sail attached to it! heh heh - phatvolvo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1And it won't be legal in the Netherlands!
- rasty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Cool! I'll consider buying one, in case I finally decide it's time to break my neck!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It seems somethings are just invented to see if they can be invented. Also why digg something that hasnt even made it past proof of concept drawn on a napkin?
Dugg down - Anrkist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1PUNK ROCK
- kineticelite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1DEKA (segway) Already has a patent for this. I smell lawsuit!
- wickedawsome, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Not sure about you guys but I found some of the other inventions on the page to be much more useful and interesting.
- Margh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sony + self-balancing skateboard == Tony Hawk's peripheral?
Also, why the god damn would you bother? If you're going to go rolling around the streets on something that looks like a skateboard, why not just skate? It's not that hard and this thing still has the same risks. - zombiedepot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1That's a nifty idea, but I can barely skateboard when it's just me powering it.
- itsxtian, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1short supply, then massive ebaying to ensue.
- jimmypetro, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I'm pretty sure it means you can just lean forward to move forward... not just left and right.
- greg7967, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0can someone say SEO spam... sheesh that page is a mess
- Cojawfee, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Will this link up with the PS3?
