- ThinkRad, on 03/21/2009, -0/+11They don't mention it in the article, but autorotation is actually the safest way to crash any airborne vehicle. After the engine dies the upward force of the air through the rotors keeps them spinning pretty fast, and the controls stay intact so you're still able to maneuver, somewhat. Right before landing you "flare" the helo by attempting to climb and pitching the nose upward again. This causes a huge reduction in descent speed and ultimately, saves lives.

Only one sentence and pictures of a model when every other chopper gets at least a paragraph and cool pictures? Are you serious??
