Sorry, but the guy had a gun and he was threatening to at least kill himself. They aren't going to just stroll on in and ask him to lay down. He could have another weapon on him or pickup the gun fast, they don't know if it's working or not.
      Point being, if you don't want to get tackled by police don't sit in the street with a gun and threaten to kill anyone.

Have you seen the training Canadian snipers go through? Put an American sniper against a Canadian sniper, and the Canuck will win.

A good hi-power rifle is supposed to shoot AT LEAST 0.5 MOA so he had some room for play. Not a shot that just anyone can make and makes for great TV and a great outcome for a dangerous situation. Only an above average shot as long range shots go.

This forms a triangle with the target being one side of the triangle. Therefore, as you increase the length of the triangle (keeping the same angle) the side if the triangle on the target increases in size. Or you can just read this...

        • Sogui, on 04/01/2008, -0/+1Too many noobs on Digg. You can stablize the scope all the same with or without iron lungs, iron lungs just extends that stability over a longer period of time. Stopping power increases damage, but deep impact would allow the bullet to travel through the gun like it did. After all, deep impact increases penetration of material by the bullet.

The military has been using them for years, I carried them in the Gulf War and in Somalia. So many military guys that turned Cop prefered them because they are faster and one guy can carry 30 or 40 of them.

You may be able to put 5 shots into a nickel sized hole @ 100 yards on a stationary target, but try to hit one that is moving. I bet you will miss. BTW you do sound cocky, I am a former Marine Corps Sniper, I have hit targets @ 1300 meters, and this would have been a difficult shot that only trained sniper could have made.

This guy was pretty stationary he wasn't walking. I agree that the police shooter was a good shot to attempt it and that is no small feet. I still declare it and above average shot for a long range shot. And you hit targets at 1300 meter what rounds and setup did you have?

It was a highly compressed powder that was designed to disintegrate when it hit a solid object to prevent dangerous ricochets. I'm almost certain this was the story where they used that bullet.
