The announcements featured E.T.'s voice reminding drivers to "Buckle up" their safety belt. Traffic signs depicting a stylized portrait of E.T. (wearing his safety belt) were also installed on selected roads in the USA. The following year, British Telecommunications launched the "Stay in Touch" campaign, with E.T. as the star of various adverts.

Mainly memorably because Stevie Wonder performed, and was driven out to the stage on the field in a British car - this was particularly odd because it appeared as if blind Stevie was driving the car himself.
