- SmackMyMac, on 10/10/2007, -3/+83E.T. Say: "Phone Home, Buckle Up, Arrive Alive"
- addiggt, on 07/06/2009, -1/+67Wow, 6 hours late...but I just realized that I added one too many "yous" in the title. Sorry about that folks.
- Haphazardness, on 10/10/2007, -2/+60Why the hell is E.T. telling me to buckle up anyway?
- Supaman223, on 10/10/2007, -2/+55I didn't realize it till i read your comment
- SteelAuger, on 10/10/2007, -1/+43What a hypocrite. The dude flew around on a bicycle with nothing but a blanket and now he thinks he's good enough to lecture us about transportation safety.
- s33k4, on 10/10/2007, -2/+44oh god, reminds me of that horrible atari game :(
- woobster, on 10/10/2007, -5/+44Looks like an entrance to some sort of creepy-ass cult....
- psevium, on 10/10/2007, -2/+38Im sure you wont do it you again
- EBFoxbat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+22And who the hell is (s)he to tell me to buckle up- all riding in the bike basket with no seat belt and *****.
- nuclearpenguins, on 10/10/2007, -1/+22You, sir, have issues.
- cuoops, on 10/10/2007, -0/+20In 1998, E.T. was licensed to appear in television public service announcements produced by Progressive Insurance. The announcements featured E.T.'s voice reminding drivers to "Buckle up" their safety belt. Traffic signs depicting a stylized portrait of E.T. (wearing his safety belt) were also installed on selected roads in the USA. The following year, British Telecommunications launched the "Stay in Touch" campaign, with E.T. as the star of various adverts.

- merreborn, on 10/10/2007, -2/+15Dude, calm down. Happens all the time. We don't freak out when brits start with all the "I was on the A14, near where it meets the M12, on my way to buckinghamshire, just north of westminstershirehamville, when I spotted some bleedin' lorry fly-tipping right on the side of the road!", so I think you can handle a simple abbreviation now and then.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13you were supposed to play it stoned - otherwise it makes no sense
- elcow, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11http://xkcd.com/37/
- BrassMan, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10Yeah I'm from CT, it never even occurred to me that these were weird.
- SwissCamel, on 10/10/2007, -6/+14Am I the only one who ever really wanted to have a go at trying to snap E.T's neck? Do you think it would be brittle like a twig or more flexible like a snake?
- Nin10dude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Gay Ass, that's a silly name for a town.
- RobynG7, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Proper line breaks can't save a doomed comment...
- oneoverzero, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Yeah, they're all over CT.
- paulisnotdead, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5I'm going to walk away now...
- skratchnerd, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Why would you have to guess when the caption says "CT". My "guess" is that the sign is in Connecticut, but that is just my "guess"
- WaterDragon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Fix y our damn computer! it displayed fine for me.
And don't mod it down just because you don't know how to get your computer to work. :-) - ElwoodHerring, on 10/10/2007, -5/+8Please, for the benefit of non-US citizens like me, WHAT IS CT?
- gwinerreniwg, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I still have some of the ET/Progressive materials - I remember that this also tied in with their sponsorship of the Super Bowl half-time show. Mainly memorably because Stevie Wonder performed, and was driven out to the stage on the field in a British car - this was particularly odd because it appeared as if blind Stevie was driving the car himself.
- Mojochiken, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3same here, but now i think it's weird that i didn't think they were weird. my whole day has been turned upside-down.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Crickey! Now I'm gonna stick my glowing finger in his butthole!
- PunkFenixJT, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3One in Seymour too, i've always laughed at it , but never thought about taking a picture.
stupid CT..we can't hold a pro sports team but we can at least have random street signs! - fusama, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4plus google/wikipedia would answer that question in about 3.4 seconds.
Also, dugg for 'westminstershirehamville' - mrdeeds2324, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5you mean awesome atari game!
- rpgplaytime, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3No, the cavemen just get their own television show.
- Khaos, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Yah I live in Danbury right next to Brookfield. We have a white one at Danbury High. But kids always steal it. Its like $120 to replace one of those.
- LucasVB, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2You're not the only one, my friend.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Why would we run?
that doesn't make any sense. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4I could join an ass cult!
- shiftt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Digg needs a picture section.
http://www.digg.com/design/Digg_How_About_A_Picture_Section_PIC - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2The sign means "Watch out for alien road rage".
- Ninjab3ar, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4My guess is that the sign is located in Roswell, New Mexico
- TimoMcD, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1We've got them over in RI, too. Pretty odd little signs. They confuse me more than anything.
- myheaditches, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I've seen these plenty of times in CT and never thought anything of it.
- Kugo, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2And I have one that says ET just gave a bunch of diggers a colonoscopy with his magic finger.
- dbz253, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1i see these signs all over the place where i live (virginia). i just thought that (for whatever reason) this was a standard road sign.
- RMoore08, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Then its not one of these signs.
- smacksaw, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2To be fair, it wasn't really a game as much as it was an on-screen guide on how to break your joystick.
However, it did teach me to masturbate effectively. The skills I gleaned from getting out of the pit really transferred over to real-life monkey spanking. - micromause, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1What's up with all the signs today?
- apexified, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1It's not that bad; the fact that there are pictures, just the fact that there isn't a picture section for them to reside in.
- Frnnkdlxx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Intergalactic Extraterrestrial Biological Entitieist?
- erikt311, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1It's the same ad campaign though. *****.
- kyhx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I have one of these signs by my local high school.
