- arizona01, on 03/16/2009, -3/+684-8K is very reasonable. I was expecting somewhere around 50-80K.
- kinneys, on 03/16/2009, -3/+67I could use one of those when my wife determines I am Adolf Hitler. Seems to happen monthly.
- RJ0534, on 03/16/2009, -1/+54I liked how they showed the suits being tested on those women... they didn't look overly thrilled
- JustAn0th3rFace, on 03/16/2009, -5/+49"I can completely understand how this can be really popular with CEO's, top political clients"
he forgot Drug Cartel leaders.
Oh come on, because this was first developed in Columbia for people like Barack Obama.. right? - DouglasQ, on 03/16/2009, -2/+35hehehe...failing marriages.
- notzak, on 03/16/2009, -1/+32Would you buy a bulletproof suit that they were uncomfortable testing with real people?
- inactive, on 03/16/2009, -2/+29Closing your eyes offer extra protection.
- MicahT0078, on 03/16/2009, -1/+28Actually if you know the history of this company then you would know that they were invented for political clients and CEO's because of the assassination attempts by the drug cartels. You were close though. Have a biscuit.
- JustAn0th3rFace, on 03/16/2009, -1/+16I think what you meant to say was
"Doesn't work well unless you also have a bulletproof head"
fail. - inactive, on 03/16/2009, -0/+13I just had this idea of patenting a bullet proof wig.
- JustAn0th3rFace, on 03/16/2009, -0/+13plan on getting shot anytime soon?
- antoniuk, on 03/17/2009, -0/+12My Grandfather was a missionary in the 40s till the 70s in Colombia... Drug cartels and gangs attacking politians and religious leaders, missionaries and priests/pastors is nothing new.
He used to show me his guitar case that had machete slashes on it where he had to fend off attacks. - JCH897, on 03/17/2009, -1/+12I hope they someday make a bulletproof snuggie so I can talk on the phone AND be safe.
- JoeParanoid, on 03/16/2009, -2/+12Always planning for the last threat, never looking for the likelier scenarios. If JFK had been wearing one, he'd still be dead.
- Seal, on 03/16/2009, -3/+13For those interested in the product, here's the website:

Yay low-res flash animations and annoying crappy music. You'd think that at $4,000 per suit they could have hired a better web developer. - FelixDrylock, on 03/17/2009, -1/+10your comment reads like a spam comment, minus the link to your ***** blog.
- Prototek, on 03/17/2009, -1/+10The people are cheaper than dummies.
- ryan83189, on 03/16/2009, -0/+8A helmet is a bit much to be wearing all of the time. Shooters generally aim for the body anyway. It was a very rare situation for the president to be in that situation and for oswald to actually hit him. If you look at something like the Hollywood bank shootout, full body armor is really enough protection to make you "Invincible" in a fire fight.
- mickstephenson, on 03/16/2009, -4/+12As if Steven Segal thinks he is a target, how up his own arse is he?
- geoboy, on 03/17/2009, -0/+7Simple. Bullet-proof baseball cap. Can't get any more American than that.
- 0scar, on 03/17/2009, -0/+7your wife is one crazy bitch
- SniperZero, on 03/17/2009, -0/+6they can't see me
- JustAn0th3rFace, on 03/16/2009, -1/+7Ok, so if you were JFK what would you have done differently.
1) Wear a bullet proof helmet, because you know the imagery of this makes the US looks great and are so popular and effective
2) Hide in the White House all day
3) created an awesome pope-mobile, once again great imagery for the US
4) unlikely scenario #4
These people, these BRAVE PEOPLE, that run for our government office know what is at stake when they do so and are at terms with this. Explain your possible alternatives. In my eyes what you are implying is not practical. - coldkill3r, on 03/17/2009, -0/+6*Points at comment history*
- spritom, on 03/17/2009, -0/+6Watch some of his direct-to-DVD releases and you may have the answer.
- zippea, on 03/16/2009, -2/+8I was going to say PMS...but failing marriages work too.
- Phasmorphage, on 03/17/2009, -1/+7after all the ***** movies he's made, i'm fear for my own life too...
- xenix, on 03/17/2009, -0/+5If you get shot with a bullet proof vest on, the vest will typically save your life but you will still get pretty badly hurt by the impact. Thats why they don't test on real people.
- Gloogle, on 03/16/2009, -4/+9It's a third world country they don't value life for *****.
- ParappaDaCrappa, on 03/17/2009, -0/+5"zip it up" what kind of suits do you wear?
- spritom, on 03/17/2009, -0/+5If only he was a hard target like Jean Claude.
- AgentOgre, on 03/17/2009, -0/+5does steven segal get shot at alot?
- Cheesehead9805, on 03/17/2009, -0/+4...it's not illegal
- Rhysbo, on 03/16/2009, -1/+5If I can't see them...
- FelixDrylock, on 03/17/2009, -0/+4Exactly. If you are important enough to worry about being assassinated, you probably have money, so 4-8k is a bargain. If you're a gang member worrying about getting shot, it's probably going to raise a few eyebrows that you're wearing an Armani suit.
- inactive, on 03/17/2009, -0/+4And even then, people rarely go for the head. So even if it doesn't make you completely immune, it greatly reduces the danger of getting shot. If I'm going into a situation where I might get shot, I'd rather have protection from 90% of bullets than none at all. Hell, I'd take protection from 10% of bullets to nothing. Any boosting of the odds is a good thing, really.
- jpop, on 03/17/2009, -0/+4They probably don't work on rifle fire like the ceramic plate embedded gear they are wearing does.
- PhuzyBuny, on 03/17/2009, -0/+3I still think the vest looked cooler. You don't see the guys in counterstrike running around in polos.
- ortucis, on 03/17/2009, -1/+4I don't think most Diggers are getting shot at in the basements where they slumber.
- shrewduser, on 03/16/2009, -0/+3when goodwins law enters the sanctimony of marriage, well damn that ***** be funny....
- soil, on 03/17/2009, -0/+3Ya. Good point. I don't, for one minute, think that this is a new phenomenon. It's just been in the popular news quite a bit, lately.
- inactive, on 03/17/2009, -0/+3Watch out for headshots.
- soil, on 03/17/2009, -1/+4and lately...pastors... :-(
- spritom, on 03/17/2009, -0/+3Suddenly the mullet is back in style for government leaders.
- DMUX, on 03/16/2009, -3/+5some poor sap will be making a video..how not to wear a bullet proof suit next
- ThatGeek, on 03/17/2009, -0/+2they are also a bit more fashionable.
i think its a very reasonable price - jpop, on 03/17/2009, -0/+2You're more likely to get shots to the center mass than to the head (assuming you aren't going around with your head sticking out the sun roof of your car). If you aren't wearing obvious protection, they'll shoot there. Look at what happened to that pastor that got murdered in Illinois for example. Shots to the chest (not the head).
- spritom, on 03/17/2009, -0/+2In the video, he describes some calibers which match up with NIJ Level IIIA. Level's II and IIIA are commonly worn by law enforcement. Something like a .300 Win Mag or .30-06 AP round would probably go through both sides of II/IIIA vests (conditions vary).
For rifle rounds, there are Level III and IV vests. Typically we see the hard plates on the Level IV stuff and worn typically by military personnel that don't have to be running around (perhaps the Space Shuttle Doorgunner might have Level IV).

For .50 BMG...uh...well...that's a different story. Browning's Ma Deuce makes quite a strong argument against things like soft body armor. - inactive, on 03/17/2009, -0/+2Notice he did not say sleeves?
- chriswastaken, on 10/27/2009, -0/+2ahh, it's refreshing to hear Douglas Adams being referenced.
