- LandStander, on 10/11/2007, -5/+147I probably had the ***** lucid dream ever. I had a dream where I woke up and got ready for work and all that ***** early in the morning and was about to leave and at that moment I woke up for real and had to get ready for work all over again.
- rhabd0mancer, on 10/11/2007, -1/+100Back in college, I had a dream about waking up, and consequently I overslept and missed a midterm exam.
- Desolite, on 10/11/2007, -2/+95the way i got into it was by telling myself "remember its a dream" over and over again just before falling asleep. then while i was dreaming i said "hey, this is just a dream" and i did whatever i felt like doing. its odd, its not particularly satisfying because in the end its just your own head but you have a bit more control over what you yourself are doing. it also gives you some interseting insight into how your subconcious works and how seperated you really are from it. i mean, it comes up with a whole story complete with scenery and you're basically a prisoner of your own creation because you really don't know what your subconcious is going to come up with next.

- 0xbaadf00d, on 10/11/2007, -0/+90I often realize I am dreaming, but then after a short time of controlling the dream I wake up. Can't hold it.
- seks03, on 10/11/2007, -1/+82I had a lucid Dream once.... I realized I was in a dream and ran for a door so I could get outside and was about to start flying but I got so excited I woke up..... DOH!
thats the hard part, when you realize your dreaming to stay calm and keep it going. - mixplate, on 10/11/2007, -4/+81i used to lucid dream about 3 times a week back in college days. it took me about 3-4 weeks of practicing. the moethod i used was the time trick. basically all throughout the day, check the time, and ask yourself am i lucid dreaming. of course the answer is no, but eventually this habit will lead to asking yourself while you are dreaming. all i can say is that the dream world is nuts.

Do what? - ganjadude4391, on 10/11/2007, -4/+61This is something ive been interested in for a while. Ive been training myself to do this, it is NOT an easy accomplishment but when you can do it (i still can only do it once in a while) it is well worth it. anyone else out there ever done it before?
- charmingman99, on 10/25/2007, -29/+82Or you can light up a spliff of Calea zacatechichi.
- degree, on 10/25/2007, -0/+47Little do you know, this man is from the early 1900's. He is using the word in its literal sense, and is blissfully unaware to the horrors of man-man buttsex.
- Tsen, on 10/11/2007, -4/+46I've been LD'ing for a little over three years now, and I find that putting in a little more initial effort and LD'ing without calea is more rewarding, simply because you're not reliant on external chemicals to become lucid. I LD once a week on average, and now that it's become such a habit, almost no effort is required by me. The first six months will be tough, but after that it's smooth sailing...
- katulatakulu, on 10/11/2007, -2/+42I tried this but the d got rubbed off.
Best. Dream. Ever. - Ramzy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+40I've only ever had 2 lucid dreams, and they were the absolutely mind boggling.
It's just such an amazing feeling to be able to acknowledge that you're in a dream, then to do or accomplish what ever you feel like. Being able to jump up into the sky and fly around, change your surroundings, speak to people, or even create objects is such an extraordinary feeling. - stratdog25, on 10/25/2007, -3/+40Finally. Someone else who agrees that Slipknot is gay.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+37since my cat died, whenever i see him i know I'm dreaming right away. oddly though, I see the cat that died years ago more often now. i had an LD last night and it was just as real as real, so amazing. Usually I just grab whichever person is standing nearby, and despite their resistance, turn them into a busty horny woman, and as soon as the sex begins, the lucidity ends. stupid. but once i put myself on top of Everest and had a look around. another time I was flying, rolled over onto my back and literally saw billions of stars. in dreams you don't have optical issues like depth of field, you can see all those stars in tight focus.
Once I knew i was dreaming, and i saw this woman, who seemed very aware that i was dreaming her. I started to explain it to her but she was so excited to exist, she didn't want to waste it talking to me. - BoydRE, on 10/11/2007, -2/+33Here's a 62 page PDF for anyone that'd like a little more info on the subject.

Through the glass screen door I can see this hooded guy with red eyes and a big shiny knife. Before I can react the guy jumps through the glass door, shattering, and stabs me to death. When you die in a dream, you usually wake up. I "woke up" and heard banging at the door. The dream repeated itself about 8 times, and even though I knew what would happen every time I couldn't stop myself from doing it. When I finally did wake up, I was pretty anxious to hear any knocking.

- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -4/+34I have some pretty wild dreams...I'd probably be scared if I was conscious during them.
Though, I know what'd I'd dream of if I could control my dreams...
an endless field of lollipops! - Fordi, on 10/11/2007, -5/+35When I was younger (around 12), I could do this without effort. I used to create powers for myself and use them to entertain myself and friends.
I'd inevitably scare them all off, but there was always one person I never recognized who'd stay and watch.
At that age, I never thought to ask who she was.
The most recent lucid dream I had was when I was 18. I was able to ask her who, and she said, 'You'll find out'.
I wonder if I still can go lucid. - Kamael, on 10/11/2007, -2/+28What if something goes wrong in my dream? Can I shout "TECH SUPPOOOORRRRRRRTTTTT!!!!" like in Vanilla Sky?
- LogicBomB, on 10/11/2007, -0/+24I did this only once before and it was total fluke:
I had a dream where I was just in a dorm room getting ready for bed (weird since I was already asleep) then some dream-monster appeared, grabbed me and sucked me into a sub-dream. Sounds absolutely retarded but I wasn't in control of the dream at the time. The SECOND my in-dream persona was sucked into another dream I became 100% aware that I was in a dream and couldn't find a way out. There were hundreds of other people in this sub-dream world. It was actually really creepy and intense.
Never been able to do it since because it was 100% fluke based on the content of the pre-lucid dream. Damn cool to remember though. - degree, on 10/11/2007, -0/+23The best part isn't that just your GF can't say no, it's that ANYONE can't say no.
- Tsen, on 10/11/2007, -0/+20@linkedlist:
That's called a dreamsign--all you've got to do is associate being chased with dreaming. People with chronic nightmares or repeating themes in dreams are the best candidates for learning to lucid dream. If you still have trouble, google for lucid dreaming forums. Dreamviews.com and ld4all.com are the biggest, so you're best bet for getting a response is probably at one of the two. - spidoman, on 10/11/2007, -1/+21....Hello Hookers.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+20Cool article. Also check out the movie "Waking Life" if you're interested in the subject. Watching that movie taught me how to lucid dream. Many of the same techniques mentioned are described in this article (e.g. look at a digital watch to see if the numbers distort, and do it several times a day in your 'waking life' too). +Digg

The same thing happened to me. As soon as I realized I was dreaming and I could control it, I freaked myself out and woke up. - Ninjab3ar, on 10/11/2007, -0/+19Lucid Dreaming = Greatest Version of GTA. EVER.

People always thought I was crazy because I said I saw images in my dream that I was going to see later in the day. In a way, I can see part of the future, but I can only remember that I dreamed them when it actually happens. I can tell if I've seen it before in a dream...who knows, maybe one day I can stop a killer if I remember them. - katulatakulu, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15high standards
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+17I have only had one such dream and it was by accident.
I was relaxing on my bed, the phone rang. I jumped up and ran towards the phone. I picked it up and said hello but the phone just kept on ringing.
I woke up in my bed to find the phone ringing at which point I went and picked it up for real. It would have been hilarious if it was one of those dream inside dream situation. - AlMightyBob90, on 10/11/2007, -2/+16Deja vu.

Rex) was coming down our road to attack us. I realized I was dreaming, closed my eyes and concentrated on ending the dream, and ended up teleporting myself from our yard to the garage. Then I tried it again and it worked, I woke up.

- tmaiden, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11Lucid Dreaming is amazing. I use to Lucid dream a lot a few years ago; I've just lost an interest in reminding myself to do it. I close my eyes and just go to sleep now. Instead of thinking that I am going to Lucid dream. I do though, Lucid dream about once a month now; as apposed to 2-3 times a week.
Here are some tips that worked for me in the past.
Goto sleep. Don't watch TV and just pass out. The best time for me was going to bed like 5-10 minutes before I know I'll fall asleep. Like when your laying on your couch, you pass out for 5 minutes, and then say to yourself "I'm gonna go upstairs and go to bed" (this is the best time to remind yourself to Lucid dream)
When getting ready to fall asleep. Start your dream off. Don't wait for the dream to start as a movie but build the plot for the movie. Don't think of what you have to do tomorrow but place yourself in a setting. "Walking down the beach". Stay relaxed, don't think your whole dream to where the point 20 minutes went by and your still awake. Thats why I only try to Lucid dream when I am really tired.
I know everyone has had a dream where they question if you are having a dream or not. This is what I would consider the door to Lucid dreaming. Either you think it is realality or you know that you are dreaming. Sometimes I look at my feet, if I remember, and they appear blury; then I know that I am dreaming. Other times I am flying around and say to myself "*****, I wish this was a dream" even though irl i know i can't fly. Find out what works best for you. 90% of the time, a situtation comes up that I know isn't possible irl. This is when I break into Lucid dreaming.
You really can do almost anything you want. It pisses you off though when you try to do something and you can not. Like flying, you find yourself just jumping up and down but never taking off. The only thing I have mastered (works about 75% of the time and is about 75% of the outcome I want) is changing my location/surroundings. I close my eyes in my dream and spin around in a circle 3 times, when I open my eyes, I appear in the new surroundings I was thinking of.
Best of luck. - nickels, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11I have been doing this unintentionally for years, and thank god I know can look into it further. I stumbled upon LD'ing by accident. When my alarm goes off in the morning, if I am really tired the noise doesn't wake me up but it melds into my dream. After hearing a constant buzzing in my dream, I began to realize I am still sleeping but I am now conscience of that fact. I attempt little experiments like floating or going through walls, all which work and feel quite weird. You can manipulate your dream if you concentrate on it really hard, and it is a very unsettling when I finally wake up. I often find that even though I realize it is a dream I am unable to wake myself up no matter how hard I try.
And for the comment above, I am not sure if what I am doing is actually LD'ing, but it is not *****. I have been tying to figure out what the hell is going on in my head, and I am happy to hear that there is an explanation for it. - degree, on 10/11/2007, -4/+15DUGG DOWN for lack of a period.
- oMeSSiaHo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10The best way is just to do reality checks every now and again. Pinch your nose while breathing in, if you can breath you are dreaming. You can also check digital clocks twice. If the time changes you are dreaming.
There are methods like WILDing in which you stay awake while falling asleep but its scary as hell! Just try to look out for weird things and you'll be ok.
Most of my lucids just sorta happen. I'll just start my dream off while being aware. Other times I've just noticed really strange ***** and realized it cant be real. Also pay attention to when you wake up, chances are you really arent awake. Just do a reality check with your alarm clock.
The best part about lucid dreaming is your GF can never say no!
*edit*
Eating bananas is supposed to help as well as chocolate. Set your alarm clock about three hours before you intend to wake up and get up and walk around when it goes off. When you go back to bed think about lucid dreaming and your chances of having one will be higher. - DesktopGeo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10Erm.. have you even been reading the comments?
Granted, it's hard to do, and there's varying levels of consciousness you can achieve in your dreams, but I can personally tell you that I've had them, and I think many people who have commented will tell you that too. - godfa7h3r, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9I actually just had a lucid dream last night. I was driving down the highway in the city where I live and the Sams Club was suddenly a Best Buy. Just to make sure that I was dreaming I looked at the time on a bank sign across the street, looked away, and looked back. Sure enough, the time was completely different from the first time I looked. So I proceeded to jump out the door of my moving vehicle and fly away. :)
PS... if you want a good trigger to check to see if you are dreaming, one of the best ways to do it is to look at the time, look away, and look back. So be checking your watch, clocks, computer time, etc... -
