- smurf22, on 10/10/2007, -8/+35Who the hell dugg this to the front page, I can only imagine the sequel to this. "How to photograph kids at the beach"
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+24*****. I was too busy laughing to steady my hand and I hit the bury button by accident.
- nexus, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17I thought it wouldn't be long until someone made the comparison to pedophilia.
- DeskFlyer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11Pedos nowadays are considered to be males who take notice to post-pubescent females between the ages of 13-18... you know, the same ones that Mother Nature has been kindly reminding us of the ones that are supposed to be attractive to us via breasts, hip-waist ratio, etc for the past 10,000 years or so...... so much for the actual definition.
- tehxen3, on 10/10/2007, -5/+14But will they blend?

- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Good grief. How many people really think that this article has anything to do with pedophilia? From some of the comments above, a lot of people do.
- LordSkywalker, on 10/10/2007, -6/+14Warning: Creepy-eyed baby.

- JoshuaH, on 10/10/2007, -6/+14I'm sure Pedobear has some good tips...
Ok, that wasn't in good taste. Sorry. - smacksaw, on 10/10/2007, -0/+74chan has ruined my ability to read these types of headlines.
Judging by the comments, it seems I'm not alone. - oziii, on 10/10/2007, -9/+16great article - pity so many Diggers can't get their minds out of the gutter. Grow up and get a life.
- nexus, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Its a shame that the few minds in the gutter are ruining a perfectly good article linked here. They really show off their collective intellect by acting immaturely.
- Murdats, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8its still legal to take photos of kids?
- paulisnotdead, on 10/10/2007, -5/+11That baby at the top of the page freaks me out.
- CrimsonBlur, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7That first picture of the little girl is one of the cutest pictures I have ever seen! Good advise, and great pictures. It may sound silly to some of you, but just imagine having some of those pictures of your kids in your photo album when they're all grown up, absolutely priceless.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8are pedophiles the new terrorists? special fox news report at 10!
- coheedcollapse, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Personally as a freelance photographer for a local paper I haven't had any trouble covering events involving kids, but back in high school a friend of mine was assigned to take a few candid shots of kids playing in a park and a woman actually called the cops on him. The guys even took his film away..
- anteyekon4myst, on 10/10/2007, -1/+620 minutes later and I'm still laughing at that one.
- diggdong, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Photographing in a clown suit while making balloon animals and juggling balls is a difficult technique to learn.
- oziii, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5agreed - it's a real pity that people automatically go to this level. Makes me feel sick to see what kind of community is gathering here at Digg.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4He's a sex offender, with a record. He did six months in Chino for exposing himself to an eight-year-old. When he moved to Hollywood he had to go door-to-door to tell everyone he was a pederast.
What's a "pederast," Walter?
Shut the ***** up, Donny. - brownb2, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5The media has brain washed a whole generation into thinking photographing children is somehow illegal, it isn't. People were doing this long before the media jumped on the pedophile bandwagon but *nobody batted an eyelid*, because it is normal for proud parents/relatives to photograph a child's birthday party.
- Djharlock, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Let's see, snap a photo of the obnoxious kid running round making a mess of everything, snap a photo of the kid whose opening your child's presents, why not get a picture of the kid crying because he isn't getting presents, oh don't forget to take a photo of your kid throwing a tantrum because he didn't get the new toy or game he wanted. Ahh yes such blissful memories to be saved.
- JimmyDushku, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7Rule 1: Make sure they are YOUR kids or friends. If I run into Chris Hansen one more time....
- HawkeyeMatt, on 10/10/2007, -8/+11Buried as creepy.
- tablelegs, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6Wow. Maybe you're not a pedophile, but you're arrogant as *****.

- coheedcollapse, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3More than half of these can be applied to any situation at all. Bounce flash, different angles and focal lengths, getting on level with your subject, shooting candidly, burst mode, on-subject details, and designate a photographer are really just too vague to include in this guide. Chances are that if you have enough of an understanding of white balance, bounce flash, and focal lengths, you're not going to need that rehash in the first place (and if you don't have that knowledge, the tutorial might be a bit hard to understand).
Just my opinion though. I might be looking at this a bit too critically. - Djharlock, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2As morbid as that comment was it did actually bring some humor to the table.
- bouche, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3kids are very easy to photograph and most of the time they aren't like adults who change their behaviour and tone down their expression when a camera comes out at an event.
- duggtodeath, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Hey, what about the lawsuits afterwards?
- shibbz, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2How to write pointless "How To's"!
- brownb2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Do you have proof otherwise? There are probably a lot of men who like borderline legal - are you counting these in your stats?
- sinkhead, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2"At times it might even be appropriate to ‘play’ with the kids with taking photos as ‘the game’ you’re playing by getting them to pose and then show them the results on your LCD."
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1One word: prosumer. Some people have all the gear but none of the talent, and they're willing to learn how to take better photos.

- vicious42, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2If the first thing you think about when you read an article about photographing children is pedophilia than you're either: a) Brainwashed by the sensationalist media, or b) A pedophile
- theholycow, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2So, ONLY pedophiles would want to photograph a child's party (where, BTW, the children are all clothed and engaging in very unsexual activities)?
I hope you never become a parent. I'd hate to think you might realize one day that you've photographed your child and then decide that you must fulfill the role you've taken and become a pedophile. - VictorCheng, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2no - you don't have to go to creepy - you can take it as the author meant it - that photographing parties is full of great photographic opportunities. This article is about when parents ask you to photograph a party - with permission. It goes to lengths to make sure you're appropriate. The gutter/creepy stuff is only here in the comments. As a parent myself I'm disturbed by the Digg community as illustrated in these comments - very poor form. You should all be ashamed of yourselves.
