- DrDigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+96Perhaps your "girlfriend" didn't exist?
- Loonacy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+40There are 239 other me's. How disappointing. My momma always told me i was unique. :(
- ohstoopid1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+36You are unique. Just like everyone else.
- Sh0cker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+28Cool, only 3 other Don Juans I have to compete with..
- Catalyst, on 10/12/2007, -2/+27was she "The girl in the red dress"?
- neuropsychguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24Sweet! I don't exis...
- armbar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23"Anonymous" might be kind of hard to say when you're younger, so I can see why it's not too popular.
- converge, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24zing!
- griz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22There must be a lot of me, I can't get to the site.
- Salviati, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21Hey, watch out for the 34 Harry Dicks (and 38 Harry Dickeys). Parents can be so cruel.
- coyforce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20Wow, actually 0 people with my name. So i guess that I don't exist.
- martalli, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13This database is a ncie toy, but it is inaccurate. I put in an old g/f name and it said there were zero people with her first name and zero with her last name. I know her name is uncommon, but it shouldn't read zero (I was figuring 1, that's why I tried it!).
- jjesusfreak01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11I suppose you probably put your name in as 0v3rk1ll...
- swape, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9There are 49,530 people named John Smith in the United States. There are 1,048 people named James Bond, 113 people named Harry Potter , 503 people named George Bush, and 31 people named Emily Dickinson. However, Johnny Cash (39 people) songs aside there are, statistically speaking, no boys named Sue.
- zephc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+80 People in the USA with my name? I beg to differ
- AriaStar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8FYI, the site is in beta, so of course it won't be perfect.
You know, seriously, from the time I was 18 until 21 I technically didn't exist in the government database in any legal manner due to a name chance when I was an infant when my parents got married. My last name changed, but somehow it didn't get into the system. Not until I was trying to get a replacement social security card did I find out I had two completely semi-legal names that were both completely invalid. No, doesn't make sense. But without a social security card with the same last name as on my driver's license, I legally couldn't work.
To get my SS card changed, I had to prove I was the person named with that number. My driver's license said my current name, which I got right before the DMV kicked up how stringent they are on verifying things. As a minor, my mom just filled a few things out, showed my card, and they put it in my current name. But to get my license changed, I had to prove my ID with my birth certificate, which had my birth name on it, and so didn't match.
Basically it was a huge ordeal requiring many, many trips to the state capitol and petitions and affidavits, and still, anytime I call the government for anything, deal with taxes, whatever, I have to explain all this stuff and give them a maiden name for my mother that isn't correct.
I now currently exist under two names. From not existing four years ago, I now exist twice, under both my birth name and my current name. - JazzFlight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8277,445 people with my first name.
660 people with my last name.
1 person in the country with my name. ME.
I feel like I've won something! =D - Obvioustroll, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Wait. You're a troll, too?
How come I never see you at the family reunions? - martalli, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7lol, now she seems a figment of my imagination, too, but we shouldn't speak much of old gf's, in case my wife reads this! My wife incidentally didn't come up either (She also has a very rare name - Soosaiammal). We were going to name our new daughter Priya...and low and behold, this database reports that no one else in America has the first name Priya. I know Priya isn't all that common, but among Indians it is very common. Now I am sure the database is laughable. Where did they get this informaiton from? Maybe the Social Security Death Index?
- converge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7it's not a duggdatabasemirror.
- complexigon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7That's because it's still trying to access the original database, which has been digg effected.
You can't expect duggmirror to cache a whole database. - doodlebumm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Not only do I not exist, but no one in my family exists. Our lastname has zero occurences in the USA, but we've been here for 150 years. LAME site.
BTW, yes, I spelled my name correctly. - keyboardashtray, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7This sites privacy policy is a little scary imo, considering they collect your name.
- btgoss, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I can't get in.. can someone check my name...
Mortimer Dipthong
Please - ultimate_ed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It is important to note that it the results are based off the 1990 US Census data. So, if you weren't born in 1990, there's better chance you won't be included.
And, there were certainly a lot fewer than the current 299 million people in the U.S. 16 years ago, which is going to skew the results as well.
Still, an amusing little site. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3this would be cool if it were more acurate... it says there are 0 people with my last name but... you know... i have a dad and stuff..............and family .....................................................
- Salviati, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Hey, be thankful you aren't Kevin Rose: 595 Results.
And his real name (Robert Rose): 2,788 Results. - picaman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3There are dozens and dozens of people who share my name.
But I own the dotcom version, and they don't, so I'm more unique than they are. - BeauXdidLeigH, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Names, Surnames, & History are Fun!
On the topic of NAMES, try this out.....
http://babynamewizard.com/namevoyager/
This Java-based website poses as a baby name explorer, but I appreciate the ability to analyze the popularity of (first) names, through the ages.
Seeing the "cycles" of name popularity are interesting.
If you search the male name Arlen, you'll notice it was fairly uncommon before 1920, very common in the 30's, and ignored after the 70's. Odd!
Ike, was a huge name in the 20th century, but after Eisenhower was president (1957-60), the name lost popularity. (No, it wasn't because he initiated the American involvement in the Mid-East, installing the Shah of Iran, and planting the seeds of Western hate and intolerance, so evidently manifest today!)
Mike has always been a popular name, but it became the MOST popular post-war name. As a boomer, I have NEVER had a class, or job, or circle of friends that didn't include at least 2 Mike's. Susan was another huge "boomer" name.
Enjoy - griz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4So many of me, that I can't even get to the duggmirror site.
Well, it comes up, but it won't tell me how many of me there are. - WeeklyGeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Awesome. I only have 6. I must destroy them.
- DrDigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think people digg it to look at it later.
- atambo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2problem loading page :(
- igotdugout, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Don't feel so bad, type in John Smith to make you feel better.
- popltree2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2People, there is a big difference between your name and your existence. If your parents never gave you a name, would you still exist? Yes, you would.
- neuropsychguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hey, look another neuropsychguy on this site. What are the odds?! Although he doesn't seem to be around any more. He must have gone to that howmanyofme site, seen he didn't exist, and then disappeared in a puff of existential logic.
- ZeroLogic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Read the bottom of the page -- "All numbers estimated" and "For entertainment purposes only"
- crpietschmann, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2damnit, the site is down
- Shayer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'll digg this when the site works *tags*
- harumph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2it says i am the only one in the u.s. with my name but i know for a fact there is at least one other. google seems to be better at finding others with my name.
- JudgeDredd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Zero. Then again I am 1/2 Icelandic, 1/2 Filipino with odd spellings for my names, even for Iceland and the Filipines.
- spinchange, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1digg effected
- epheterson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There are zero of me :(
I am the only Eric Pheterson in the world, I'm pretty sure of that. - Bishoco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I went to school with a Michael Hunt. And, yes, he insisted on being called Michael.
- iNoles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There are 469,408 people in the U.S. with the first name Jonathan.
There are 164 people in the U.S. with my name.
Agent Smith say there is so many me... - Pattyo13, on 05/14/2009, -0/+1i just ran into one the other day. it was so nice
- rohell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1cool, only 2 people.
- martalli, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'll second the vote for the Baby name voyager. It's a fun little site to puruse.
- telegon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16 Jesus Christ's in America.. Sweet
- irregardless, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I do not exist either, but am surprised to find 4 people named Richard Blower. Oh, the cruelty of parents!
