- inactive, on 12/04/2008, -3/+26I hate articles that have no pictures when pictures are clearly needed.
Fail. - jfdolier, on 12/04/2008, -0/+18I always wanted to be a duck chief when I grew up...
- nahsrocketeer75, on 12/04/2008, -0/+16Considering the amount of free publicity those ducks have generated for that hotel over the years, these duck digs are a bargain.
- jggube, on 12/04/2008, -0/+15I wish I were those ducks.
- casbboy, on 12/04/2008, -0/+14dang. wish we had some pictures.
- rwalters, on 12/04/2008, -0/+10I bet the all want sun-chips!
- howsyamaschooks, on 12/04/2008, -0/+8Ducken Hell!!
- woodrow8292, on 12/04/2008, -0/+6That's because those ducks have jobs.
- LanceUppercut, on 12/04/2008, -0/+5I guarantee the entire floor is covered in duck *****.
That being said, i'd live there. - linagee, on 12/04/2008, -0/+5Maybe it's a typo? Duck chef? Mmmmm!
- jlimon, on 12/04/2008, -0/+5Don't bother ringing it up!
- Otto, on 12/04/2008, -0/+5Heh. I'm surprised this made the front page of Digg. I live here in Memphis, and I went over and saw the new duck house the other day. It's quite cool.
For those not in the know, the Peabody Ducks are a big deal there. The new thing they built on the roof replaces the old "big ugly cage" thing they had before.

That pisses me off way more than a bunch of ducks getting a nice home. Indeed, the ducks deserve better treatment than many people, so why not?
- vinceislegend, on 12/04/2008, -0/+4Ducks will save the economy.
- Otto, on 12/04/2008, -0/+4It's a straight-up mistake, actually, as the guy's official title is "Duckmaster".
- mattmacneil, on 12/04/2008, -0/+4["When they're unhappy, they let everybody know," Sensat said.]
Uh-oh!
When the ducks ain't happy - people ain't happy. - beabis, on 12/04/2008, -0/+4Your Mayor is going to jail just like Birmingham's.
- arusk, on 12/04/2008, -0/+4The time-honored tradition of the March of The Peabody Ducks began at the hotel in 1932. At 11 a.m. each morning, The Peabody Ducks march to John Philip Sousa's “King Cotton March” along a red carpet from their rooftop Royal Duck Palace the famous travertine marble fountain in the Grand Lobby. They splash and preen in the lobby until 5 p.m., when the procession reverses and the ducks retire for the evening.

- lou2005, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2Duck Chief or do they mean Duck Chef?
- huffnpuff, on 12/05/2008, -0/+2As a fellow Memphian, I concur with Otto. These Peabody ducks attract thousands of tourists every year, and the rooftop is flippin' sweet.
- AncientWeird, on 12/04/2008, -1/+3Quack! Quack! Quack! Quack! Gooooo Ducks!
- neutrascrub, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2At my high school we had a courtyard in the middle of the school and one family of ducks would come back and raise babies there every year. then when they were old enough they would walk through the school to the outside.
it was cool to see - YuleLogger, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2God, I hope so!
- jordanlgta, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2Herenton is an idiot, yep.
- inactive, on 12/04/2008, -2/+4Great now I am starving for some duck
- FallenTurtles, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2I hope they ban that Denver businessman from this hotel. Think of the feathery carnage!

- trconk, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2I was at the Peabody in the early '80's it's really pretty neat, they get a Red carpet treatment to a fountain in the lobby in the morning and then again to their penthouse in the evening, all to live piano music.

- existentialduck, on 12/09/2008, -0/+1i just had to put this article on my favorites!
- foxtails, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1When I was in elementary school in Memphis, I went on a field trip that included stopping by the Peabody to see the ducks.
- Poseur117, on 12/04/2008, -1/+2"Jason Sensat, the hotel's duck chief, said the birds seem happy in their new home."
What would they have done if the duck's hadn't been happy?
Dropped another two hundred grand on them? - justice1st, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1Do they need a roommate?
- PunkVaulter, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1Ducks are delicious!!
- cknyan, on 12/05/2008, -0/+1Why are wasting time on digg if you're in need of food? The hotels not going to feed you.

the ducks "house" is a cage on the back-side of the chiller screen
it looks like a big birdcage, approx 8' x 10' - katorga, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1I go to the Peabody rooftop parties every summer. Those ducks are wicked cool, and really throw a good bash.
