- crushfan, on 12/21/2007, -1/+13So, there's a basement which has never been opened for 100 years at Cambridge?
- Ledbelly, on 12/21/2007, -3/+15I have a dream that some day in the far future scientist will uncover some ancient artifact that has " LOLWTF HAX" on it.... or at the very least "Don't tase me bro"
- Gigs, on 12/21/2007, -0/+6I feel like at any moment this story could be updated to say that it was actually a prank by some grad students who were so drunk they forgot they did it. Penguins are too humorous to be taken seriously anymore.
- WoWBits, on 12/21/2007, -1/+5This makes me smile thinking about a famous explorer drawing this hilarious sketch and explaining to college students, "THiS is a PENGUIN ?"
Also, they were apparantly so amazed, they put them in the basement. - fiji5555, on 12/22/2007, -0/+4"We've managed to save these penguins from obscurity in the basement. Now we want to get them cleaned and restored so that visitors can enjoy them."
What....you SAID you wanted them cleaned.....I thought you meant the blackboard 0.o - inactive, on 08/26/2008, -1/+5The Dark Age in between two Golden Ages.
- bbq2007, on 12/21/2007, -3/+6Linux was the original OS. From those wacky Martian Predators.
- jonjo, on 12/22/2007, -0/+3If you click the picture you can see both explorers sketches. Scott's looks like a penguin and I reckon he must have written on Shackleton's "this is a penguin?" cos it is *****
- chad78, on 12/22/2007, -0/+2I was expecting to see a lot of jokes about "They'll never put Explorer on Linux" or some such non-sense. I suspect if this wasn't Christmas weekend (and even some geeks doing something other than haunting digg) - I'd see a lot more of those kind of jokes.
- gamabunta, on 12/22/2007, -0/+2How do you clean a chalk drawing?
- shaggy25, on 12/21/2007, -1/+2I love playing Club Penguin.

- inactive, on 02/06/2008, -0/+1If it walks like a penguin; squawks like a penguin; it is probably a penguin, but let's ask Bat Man to be sure. LOL.

- kkDonut, on 12/22/2007, -2/+2*generic tux joke*
- tgc1, on 12/22/2007, -0/+0That last bit bothers me. The entirety of the creation should be preserved. This cleaning nonsense ads, in my opinion, a sort of destruction to the authenticity of it. I mean based on the pictures they aren't in any danger of fading into obscurity. I'd say seal them up behind glass, possibly under vacuum or artificial atmosphere and leave it alone. I mean its chalk. It's not going anywhere. Just now some twit goes and erases them.
