- ToadLeg, on 10/16/2007, -0/+13This is the error I see:
"Unable to connect

- 4ndr3wk, on 10/15/2007, -0/+1Better submit it then
- jhourcle, on 10/16/2007, -0/+7Eactly like this? No. It used to be (late 1990s), that you could use DejaNews to search usenet, and 99% of the time, you'd find the solution.
Then traffic on usenet went down, and now you're more likely (on Google Groups, as Google bought DejaNews) to find 20 people asking about the same error message you have, with no answer. Or even worse, the one person replying to their own post, with 'nevermind, I fixed it'. - CheeseburgerBro, on 10/15/2007, -3/+2Yes, there has been something like this before: it's called Google.
Basically, this is a site for people who can't perform advanced searches on Google. Not a bad idea at all, but hardly earth-shaking stuff.

- pedmond, on 10/16/2007, -8/+27So, do you guys really feel like giving your email address away for THAT?
- amsterdamordeth, on 10/15/2007, -4/+3I agree. That privacy policy looks real reassuring. People fall for just about anything they can type their email into.

- HeliumCore, on 10/16/2007, -9/+1If you were going to trust anyone with your precious e-mail address then these guys are the ones to trust. In fact, I have trusted one of them with something far more valuable than my e-mail address, my money.
- wattznext, on 10/16/2007, -3/+21Anyone else think he was going to say "my virginity"?
- talashira, on 10/15/2007, -0/+0Right here, yeah.
- BurnTees, on 10/16/2007, -0/+4the two most prescious gifts you can give someone are your virginity and your vote....i'm just asking for one. (that was my campaign slogan when i ran for president of my freshman year dorm lol. needless to say, i won by a landslide.)
- wattznext, on 10/16/2007, -3/+21Anyone else think he was going to say "my virginity"?
- mydigga, on 10/17/2007, -0/+50Don't you guys have a dedicated junk email address for these types of things?
- visceroth, on 10/15/2007, -3/+3LOL exactly!! Anything I don't trust I give them a dummy e-mail account. N00bs of teh intern3ts

- Otto, on 10/15/2007, -0/+2Why is everybody so protective about "their email address"? Oh no, spam!
Get over it. You already receive spam, your email address is not pristine. Get a good spam filter and get on with your life.- yournightmare, on 10/16/2007, -0/+4Sorry, but I don't receive spam at my personal email address. I either set up a mailnull address through gmail or use a junk hotmail account. The mailnull address I use for shopping and whatnot, the hotmail I use for signing up for websites and other *****. I only check the hotmail address once a month just to keep it active, and if I ever get any spam at one of the mailnull addresses (I haven't yet) I will just delete it from gmail. Also, the mailnull accounts are individually set up for whatever site I use it at. For example, the email address for ebay is MYUSERNAME.ebay@mailnull.com--that way I know which site leaked my address.
- ErrantX, on 10/16/2007, -1/+1Knowing the guys who run it I doubt a) it would be hacked and b) know they would not sell off the data
Sheesh
- amsterdamordeth, on 10/15/2007, -4/+3I agree. That privacy policy looks real reassuring. People fall for just about anything they can type their email into.
- HeliumCore, on 10/16/2007, -7/+1What a fabulous resource! Why wasn't this done sooner? These guys are nothing but genius. I could only hope to be as smart as they are.
- takeda, on 10/16/2007, -0/+10There's a website who do that, and even more. No need to provide e-mail etc.
What was the address of that website? I hope I remember correctly... geg? gog? goog?
I think it was google.com... - tsaylor, on 10/15/2007, -0/+4So how long did it take you to make this website, HeliumCore?
- expresso100, on 10/15/2007, -0/+0Of course it's a good idea. But what's so GENIUS about this. All they are doing is creating another filter level specified by "type" of forum. This should have been done a long time ago by forums in general like EE, Microsoft, etc. You simple are abstracting a level to say "Hmm, you don't want all the types of questions in the same bucket?". So yea, why not provide an option up front in every forum. Ok, for example you want to look up stuff on ASP.NET. Ok now yhou have a forum for only error messages. Another forum for How-To, yada yada. This is not a genius concept. I'd love to see the Microsoft Forums be divided first into Types of forums, then by technology and sub topics within those technologies.
For example, I am looking for an error message for ASP.NET. I go to the Microsoft Forums site. IT asks me first:
1) What technology are you needing help with: I so I choose ASP.NET (or C#, or whatever I am wanting help with)
2) Ok, you choose ASP.NET. Now which TYPE of forum are you looking for:
ASP.NET Errors
ASP.NET How To
ASP.NET Whatever
I choose Errors
3) The format of the categories are exactly the same per each type of forum. Meaning, doesn't matter if I choose Error Forum for ASP.NET or How-To for ASP.NET, the sub categories remain the same in both so that they are consistent (i.e. Presentation Controls, AJAX, etc)
What's so GENIUS about this? It's just a way to segregate your forum post types out into more targeted type of forum for a topic. Hence Bug.d is just for example one type of forum rather than bunch every type of question into a forum site in one big bowl.
- takeda, on 10/16/2007, -0/+10There's a website who do that, and even more. No need to provide e-mail etc.

- remedix, on 10/15/2007, -0/+1Why their logo's reflection is also flipped horizontally? I guess they'll have to file their site as buggy as well.
- venjax, on 10/15/2007, -1/+2Maybe it was intentional eh? :)
- dualityone, on 10/15/2007, -1/+0Speaking as a programmer, I'd class that as a user error... (^ ^)
- remedix, on 10/15/2007, -1/+1Nope, I don't think that's intentional. The guys just got confused how to actually use the so called web 2.0 effect. Even their non beta logo on http://bug.gd/img/buggd2.png is designed that way.
Anyhow good luck to them - cmearns, on 10/15/2007, -0/+3The FAQ actually asks the question "Do you know your logo has a bug in it?"
Besides the word "bug" actually being in the name, I have absolutely no doubt that the horizontal flip was intentional. Brilliantly subtle.
- arma, on 10/15/2007, -0/+1ah well.. Not that easy to deal with errors : I
- NavS, on 10/16/2007, -1/+7anyone notice the logo reflection?

EVERYTHING LOST
Your operating system has crashed, and all your data was lost.
You were advised, repeatedly, to switch to a different OS.
You didn't listen, but kept using Windows.
And now everything you worked for is gone...just gone!
Have A Nice Day. - runescape1143, on 10/16/2007, -0/+3is it just me, or are all the errors on this site windows errors with solutions on microsoft's knowledge base?
And why will you submit an error anyway? For them to email you in 2 days and ask you how you solved it??? Yeah, that's absolute gold right there.
Dugg down cause this is useless.- ErrantX, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1They added 70,000 entries from the M$ knowledge base just to get it started. The idea is you search for solutions - if there isn't one they email you later on so if you found a solution anyway you remember to put it in the database for others to use..
- picsectionpleez, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1You said exactly what I was going to say. Why on earth do I need Microsoft KB articles? I use Linux and Mac exclusively.
- godjonez, on 11/02/2007, -0/+0Naturally, you would never query an error message that appears on Windows if you don't use it. So what bad do those Microsoft KB articles do to you?
