- tanxadillo, on 10/12/2007, -5/+32This has to be the worst possible description for a site possible.
- JazonBladen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Obviously, the explosion that destroyed the first Halo wasn't as powerful as the blast that destroyed Alderaan. (I believe the exact force required is calculated somewhere.) Regardless of the size of the Death Star, I bet it could easily take out a Halo, and possibly even Unicron for that matter.
- tylerni7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12I don't think you get the point of the comment, 10 hours ago it was 1464068, and now it's 1488718. That's 24k+ hits in 10 hours. You can track the crazy amount of people that have been there with this. Well at least, if I posted that comment that's why I'd do it...
- Shaggy6ster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Halo is on the -2000x tab, and it still doesnt fit.
- grungyhamster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8They had a Dyson sphere, that's enough for a digg from me.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7is the BFS from spaceballs there?
- onClipEvent, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9i kinda like all the ships and stuff....not too informative, but the number of ships collected is neat.
- noeljohnhoward, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7wow
a zeppelin is so much bigger than a 747 - tylerni7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7"SHIP NAME/TYPE: Generic Humanoid Carbon Units
HEIGHT: Anywhere from around 1.5m to 2.0m.
BUILDER/COMMENTS: Monkeys? God? The God of Monkeys?
SOURCE: Warm Liquid Protein Goo"
How can you not digg it? - Arramol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Use the zoom tabs on the top to zoom out and see larger ships.
- Greyarea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Actually I think the Bungie guys read some of the 'Culture' novels by Iain M. Banks. Halo is essentially a Culture Orbital (although I get the impression that Orbitals are a tad bigger).
Banks, on the other hand, read Niven. - ViktorVaughn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Oh my nerdgasm!
- outbreakofevil, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12I can't even tell what half of that ***** is.
- everfalling, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6ok, nvm. halo = 1,000km, ring world = 299,300,000 km
yeah, i always knew ring world > halo - grungyhamster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Yeah, comparing Halo to Ringworld is like comparing a wristband to Halo.
- SpamDog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5...the Dyson sphere?
- everfalling, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5why did they add halo but not ring world? i feel gyped.
my bad, it's in the big section. still, no comparitive scale? - noeljohnhoward, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5where Jefferson starship?
/they sucked
(I'm an airplane fan) - daeyeth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Eh? I dunno, seems pretty cool to me. I didn't know about it, I'm not a techy. Neat for a ten minute browse I guess. Not that I'm digging it but still interesting if ya ask me.
- unrealJEDI, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4ya death star from ep6 pretty much rules all, it seems small comparably, but i guess it's insignificant next to the power of the force anyway...
- alok0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4at least its not "Very cool site, CHECK IT OUT!!!11"
- DarkN00b, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Quote from the Halo entry: "Big? Yes, but I wonder if Niven ever played Halo...."
I don't know, but I bet the writers at Bungie read Niven. :)
The Ringworld Is MUCH>MUCH bigger than the Halo. You could put the Halo on the surface of the Ringworld and not be able to see it from the other side (even if there weren't a star in the center of it). - Arcadian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Needs Warhammer 40k. Badly.
- pixelmixer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4haha, very coold website... now i REALLY know how king kong looked like on top of the empire state building.
And Godzilla is totally eating King Kong... - RareSaturn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6It may be old but it's more interesting that erasing permanent marker from your whiteboard.
- onClipEvent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3more reason to get a wide screen monitor....
- JFetch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Spaceball 1 dwarfs all the puny ships on that page.
- X18999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You can move them around, in IE.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hell, I want to see the little, tiny robot ships from "Batteries Not Included" on this thing. I mean, we've got monster ships... why not miniature ships? :)
- Cheeseness, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4This site is awesome.
Be nice if it supported drag and drop for those of us who prefer not to use IE. - gism82, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4neat. would be really cool if this site used ajax or whatever so you could move the pictures around
- gumpy5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I feel small...
- legendxx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3serenity had no weapons.. so I think our current space shuttle could do some serious damage in a 1v1
- TiMMY8765, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2needs Wing Commander
- Greyarea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Series 1 (the four made for TV films) and 3 ('Fire And Water') were actually fairly good. Well, ok, *I* liked them.
Series 2 started well and ended well but went waaaaaay off course in the middle. Series 4 sucked. Even I would admit that. - mecki78, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2How's that World & Business? This is all fiction. This belongs to entertainment.
- Computer_Kid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This had been on here before
- rspeed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What, no Marathon?
I guess it's hard to make a drawing of something you never see the outside of. It was pretty goddamn big, though. - jiltedcitizen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That site is about 3+ years old. So IE was the browser to code for.
- OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think it's been moved to Offbeat.
- Experiment626, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nice how the Halo depicted on the site depicts roughly 80% of the islands of the Philippines (where I am from). I wonder if the islands are drawn to scale as well...
- kent1146, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Pretty cool concept.
Next up should be a massive free-for-all deathmatch simulation between all of these ships. 138 ships enter the ring, only 1 can leave.... (my money is on Chewbacca) - rspeed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Don't mod this down, they're right. I think Inara even corrects someone at one point.
- rspeed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1*facepalm*
I think you mean DHTML. - iupetre, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I agree, terrible title, but the site is cool. I kinda geeked out for a while.
- ViperDaimao, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Forget Jefferson, I want Cobra Starship http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5237400519961625788&q=cobra+starship
- daRoach, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Dugg for Crokor!
- brewyet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0WOW this site rocks, and if you have IE you can move the ships on the page to compare them. Also liked how he added himself in there. This site is just awesome.
- Smithtopher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0All I have to Say is Unicron FTW! The Death Star is just another snack!
- manjifrankie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well, the original topic I selected for the story was Science, even though most of the things displayed are science fiction, the site still shows a comparison of real things vs. things you read about or see every other day on TV. That Science is not the best topic to submit this story could be true, but in what planet does this story belongs to Offbeat News????? Not only that, I did a search on the Offbeat News and this story is nowhere to be found, daily, weekly or even yearly. That it reached more than a 1000 diggs buried the way it is beats me, how the hell this happened, how can a story gets buried so deep? I thought Digg was about the power of the people to submit stories and the people decided if they were good enough or not.
