        There is nothing wrong with having sex, there is nothing wrong with having multiple partners.

        Sex has become a religious scarecrow that is used to keep the sheeple in tow.
        I'm pushing 50 and I have had quite a few sex partners, men and women and some in between. I'm not going to say how many because you will all tell me I'm a liar.

        Just remember that people are different, some peoples sex drive is higher than others and I will not be forced to compare myself to someone who is close to frigid. Not to mention how many marriages are suffering from lack of sex and which is a catalyst for other problems. Luckily my last few girlfriends have been swingers and we have enjoyed a great life.

But you quickly jump in and call them "close to frigid" and refer to the many marriages suffering from lack of sex which is a "catalyst for other problems."           So yes, those women who only had one sex partner probably do have horrible sex lives. Although, they probably don't know that since they don't know what they're missing.

      And even if provision of birth control did trigger her promiscuous nature, it's not a fact the giving girls access to birth control and condoms makes them have sex with everything, or even at all for that matter. However, It IS a PROVEN fact that access to birth control reduces unwanted pregnancy, and the use of condoms reduces STDs, even if they don't always work.

Making conclusions based on 5 stories that were deliberately chosen by the article writer (not randomly sampled) makes no sense.       Of course, there may be a connection between the family background and the number of sexual partners. But claiming that you "discovered" that from the article is just silly. Let's try to be a bit harder to manipulate.

I'm not Catholic, but I'm guessing that the Pope doesn't suggest that parents give their children condoms and birth control pills at 13. Although she doesn't say so directly in the article, I'm guessing she didn't grow up in a strict Catholic home.

        Take the article for what it's worth. Most of us know people who feel like their promiscuity has hurt them emotionally and psychologically. We also know others who don't. From my experience, most of the promiscuous people I know -- like Madame 180 in the article -- say they want to settle down and enjoy a lasting, rewarding monogamous relationship, but feel that their promiscuity has affected their ability to do so.

        What I have written doesn't mean people who are promiscuous are bad people. I'm just saying that there are clearly negative consequences for reckless promiscuity that aren't always talked about. We always hear about how monogamy is restricting to some people's lifestyles. I'm glad to see someone address the other side of the coin.

Just looking at the photos, I honestly cannot imagine how any man would decide "Coralie is extremely attractive but Christina isn't" aside from individual preference (blondes vs. brunettes, etc.) Any reasonable man would (if only shown the photos) place Christina into the "extremely attractive" category, but there have been many comments here by guys who claim she isn't attractive.

      I find that particularly pathetic. It's obvious that there are so many guys who (quite literally) CANNOT see a woman as pretty after they KNOW she won't be sexually available to them. I think a scientific "double blind" survey would be really interesting (and appalling) on this. Take 100 attractive women. Show their photos to a group of men with a caption at the bottom of each photo with the number of partners they've had. Falsify the numbers, assign them randomly. Then re-number them and whole them to another group of men to see if they rate them differently. I'd bet the truly sad responses we've seen in this thread would reappear in the study. If they guy believes the woman is more "available" then he rates her more attractive. This is an embarrassment to my gender. These kind of men make us all look bad.

    1) The girl at 13 was going to have sex one way or another.. probably sooner than later. The mom taught her safe sex and no pregnancies. Good for the mother, good for the girl.. and good situation altogether in seeing that not all standards fit all people. The fear of sex is promoted to save unwanted pregnancies or pregnancies when the couple isn't ready to support one.

    2) I bet I could find 5 girls who grew up with the same ideals and teachings as these 5 and all had different outcomes.

It's one thing to be on the safe side, but it could easily be seen as permission to go out and do it all the time, especially in an environment where the parent and kid don't really talk about sex.
      I like the middle ground I had. I remember hearing from my folks something along the lines of "please don't be stupid and have meaningless sex, but if you are going to, DEAR GOD use a condom!"
      Much better than the alternative of a lot of kids I know, where they just say "OMG DON'T DO IT!!!" And end up with pregnant kids a year or two into such crap.

When the mother gave her daughter the pill and condoms, she was being incredibly responsible - it sounds like she was aware of her daughter's desires and intentions, and took the best steps to make sure her daughter was safe when she pursued those desires and intentions.

      Granted, it isn't clear if her mother expressed a wish for her daughter to not sleep with every boy she knew, but I find the fact she gave her daughter the tools to be protected more important. You can lecture forever and express your OWN desires for another's behavior, but it will really have very little impact, compared to saying "Okay, I don't want you to do this, but if you are going to, these are the things you need to do to protect yourself from pregnancy and disease."

They must be influenced or coerced. You're not supposed to look at human history that says humans start doing these things when they have puberty. You're not supposed to understand that when a 13 year old is able to describe their favorite sexual positions, the advantages and disadvantages of types of birth control, and discuss pregnancy, that it kind of shoots the idea that they can't consent, right out the door.

      You're just supposed to tow the line that says that our children are fragile collectibles, who cannot think anything sexual on their own. You're supposed to keep any urges they have repressed so that they may not "crack inside". And then when they're all grown up, you're also not supposed to wonder why they cannot behave like adults. And you're definitely not supposed to draw the connection that it's because we've never treated them like adults.
