Groups target corporal punishment in schools
cnn.com — Every public school needs effective methods of discipline, but beating kids teaches violence, and it doesn't stop bad behavior. Corporal punishment discourages learning, fails to deter future misbehavior and at times even provokes it.

stop babying them and teach them not to be so whiny and emo...
i'm 27....i was beaten as a child, and i turned out great. good job, responsible...dont drink very often...NEVER smoked or did drugs. and i am not religious at all. so it wasn't a religious upbringing that did it. my only weakness...is i'm a huge flirt with the ladies....
not to bad if ya ask me. - Christianptriot, on 08/20/2008, -0/+1The story is about spanking, NOT beating. From the article, "Every public school needs effective methods of discipline, but beating kids teaches violence, and it doesn't stop bad behavior," wrote Alice Farmer, the author of a joint report from Human Rights Watch and the American Civil Liberties Union. "Corporal punishment discourages learning, fails to deter future misbehavior and at times even provokes it."
I would wager that this woman, if she has children, is NOT in charge in her home.
as a home school parent, I can tell you in a crowd of 50 kids which ones are held to accountable standards in their homes with absolutes, and who are spanked as a form of corporal punishment. The Dr. Spock generation of avoiding spanking because it promotes violence has raised a couple generations of selfish, self-centered and egotistic bullies who expect everyone else to cow-tow to their wishes and demands.
Spanking does NOT teach violence when it is done out of love and to teach - it teaches children that they will suffer the consequences of their actions, and to make appropriate choices in the future to avoid the bad circumstances of life. Or as the comedian Sinbad said in one of his routines, "Spanking doesn't teach kids to hit or be violent - it teaches them to sit down and shut up!" - unfanderful, on 08/20/2008, -0/+1I'll bet I could spank 100 kids.
