- Duggan360, on 11/18/2008, -1/+39I respect their honesty, Most people would just keep their mouth shut and keep it
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -2/+29What a great first day on the job lol.
- Surferess, on 11/18/2008, -2/+28Good for Goodwill!
- onlysc, on 11/18/2008, -2/+27heartwarming
- Ricochetbiscuit, on 11/18/2008, -0/+19You know, I wonder how much they might find if they looked under a couple of mattresses? That job could be considerably uglier though, so ROI would have to be there.
- AmyVernon, on 11/18/2008, -3/+19Goodwill is really a classy organization. I love shopping in their thrift stores. And this just makes me like them more.
That said, who puts $7,500 in a shoe box anymore? Mitigated slightly by the fact that it was this guy's dead parents who'd done it. But still. Didn't he look inside the boxes before donating them? - jtbell04, on 11/20/2008, -0/+11I know I would, and dammit would I enjoy it.
- centran, on 11/20/2008, -0/+10You have to remember that those people grew up during the Great Depression where it was impossible to get your money from a bank. A lot of older people still do not trust banks because of that.
Imagine losing your job. You fully own your house. It is the Great Depression and almost impossible to find a new job. Lucky for you that you have saved up X number of dollars that could feed your family for a year. However, when you go in to the bank to get your money they won't give it to you!!! - NomortaL1, on 11/20/2008, -0/+9this is one incident at a goodwill store. This has nothing to do with the company at all.
Some people are good some are bad. Some people steal some don't. All these people work at stores of all kinds all over the world. - rmg7789, on 11/20/2008, -0/+8There's always money in the banana stand...
- annjay, on 11/18/2008, -3/+11amazing!
- jitterbits, on 11/20/2008, -0/+8So?
They've served their time. If you give them no options for employment and treat them like a bunch of *****, do you really think that is the most beneficial and productive thing for them and for society in general? - Blandyman, on 11/20/2008, -0/+6NO, MICHAEL, DON'T YOU GET IT? THERE'S ALWAYS. MONEY. IN. THE. BANANA STAND.
- houndeyex, on 11/20/2008, -0/+6Maybe your dead parent's boxes would be the last thing you would want to open up?
- Zilk, on 11/20/2008, -1/+7Like it would take long to find someone to claim $7,500
- doobiebrother, on 11/20/2008, -0/+5It's only because it was her first day. She will soon learn that they will take anything they're given.
- thebrinkman, on 11/20/2008, -1/+6heartwarming, yes... but can you imagine buying that 5 dollar pair of kicks?
- notoneofus, on 11/20/2008, -1/+6Imagine: you could have even used that money for grammar and punctuation lessons. Morals and ethics are more expensive, however.
- maikrosaft, on 11/20/2008, -1/+5Charming, civilized comment from a Neanderthal. Good for you.
- Gosunkugi, on 11/20/2008, -2/+6No.
- egthareal, on 11/20/2008, -2/+6Didn't they hear about the Finders/Keepers law congress just passed in regards to iraq?
- Blandyman, on 11/20/2008, -0/+4I've been to at least 8 stores and maybe 2 could be ex-cons with the rest being young girls (part-time jobs) or older women.
- adrames, on 11/20/2008, -0/+4We know how reliable those are...
- saucy05, on 11/20/2008, -1/+5The world would be a better place if we had more "retards" like her and less leeches like you.
- ajooman, on 11/20/2008, -0/+3I used to work at Goodwill , things like this happened alot. One time me, another employee, and a manager did a house call to pickup 3 rooms full of furniture and other ***** from an old womans house that died, her family donated the furnishings( free cleaning service basically ). 15k in cash under a mattress, ***** manager turns it into corporate.... me and the other guy were dying.. if only he hadn't walked in as SOON as we found it. Another goodwill store a few miles away from us.. found a painting , an employee thought it might be worth something, so instead of putting it in his truck and taking it home.. he tells his boss, boss finds out its worth a ***** of money, they send it to some art auction in new york and it fetches 40 grand. http://www.firstcoastnews.com/news/strange/news-ar ...
Most people that work at goodwill make 8-10$ an hour and are in their late 40's , they do it as a career. I was the only young person that worked there through college (they pay 75% of your tuition for any school for any classes) i dont think they turn in the money because they are good people, its most likely they are petrified to lose their job and get caught.. goodwill controls their employees with fear they are a horrible company to work for really.. - senator32, on 11/20/2008, -0/+3"There's always money in the shoe boxes...wink"
- SadMartigan, on 11/25/2008, -1/+3Sure, when Good Will does what you'd expect, the MSM gives them praise and adulation, but you'll never hear about how Bad Will has overcome adversity and objectification to get where he is, and how he gives back money all the time.
It's a conspiracy I tell ya. They barely mentioned it when Bad Will gave 700 billion to those poor, needy creditor folks. - RickyBennett, on 11/20/2008, -0/+2i used to work at goodwill and im not retarded and nether was the others i worked with in fact it was fun to work there
with that sead remember that if u but any clothing from them wash it when u get home goodwill dont wash any thing
the stuff they cant sell they throw away in the compacter instead of donating it - theaceoffire, on 11/20/2008, -0/+2What most people don't realize is that this is part of a money laundering scheme.
This is the 34th "found box of money" they have delivered... "returned"... this month. - inactive, on 11/20/2008, -0/+2Hear, hear.
- Blandyman, on 11/20/2008, -0/+2It could be her head in the box.
- EarthBoundX5, on 11/20/2008, -0/+2Wow, a goodwill thats actually not full of crooks? The goodwill in my area is unfortunately very shoddily run.
- andreytcho, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1I am amazed at how this story is evolving. The sad thing is that later on when the lady comes back to Bulgaria she will be saying how ***** US is and everything is work, work and no fun. Well may be if you kept the money things would become better? But NO! :)
- bwolf180, on 11/20/2008, -1/+2its called a bank
- REWK, on 11/21/2008, -0/+1Hey! That was my money. :,-(
- paulnugent, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1haha thats nice of her. . . i wonder if i'd be so good
- Crucible1001, on 11/20/2008, -1/+2He is talking about the distribution centers. They do hire many convicts. I worked there (not a convict) 10 years ago. Nearly everyone I worked with was one. They used to steal stuff all the damned time. They hire mostly convicts, mentally disabled, and kids.
- nmezib, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1that's what I call Good Will :)
- Huangism, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1idiot, we need more selfish people in the world to make others smarters
- idavidtang, on 11/20/2008, -1/+1Goodwill full of goodwill. It's nice to hear of such goodwill in Goodwill.
- BeShirtHappy, on 11/18/2008, -5/+5My thoughts as well. They showed good will... proving they were aptly named.
- wastelander, on 11/20/2008, -1/+1Probably drug dealers. :-P
