- Glugory, on 01/12/2008, -6/+104That's what happens when you act like a ***** douche. Some of that video was funny, but screwing over the guy who was trying to give a presentation was just plain *****.
- mrfreeziexp, on 01/12/2008, -5/+65Good, that's exactly what should have happened. CES is a place for journalists, not dimwitted pranksters screwing up everyone's presentations. Extremely low class on Gizmodo's part.
- troymcdavis, on 01/12/2008, -3/+50Gizmodo needs to be banned, not just one staffer. If they had punished their staffer themselves when they first saw the video, then they'd have a case, but they posted this on the site, and got ad revenue from it. Follow the chain of command straight to the top.
- travbrack, on 01/12/2008, -2/+42I'm glad. That was a real dick move on their part.
- INTERNETMASTER, on 01/12/2008, -7/+39good on them. totally justified ban and personally I think they should pursue criminal charges against these jerks.
Gizmodo sucks compared to Engadget anyway! - mrfreeziexp, on 01/12/2008, -0/+30I'm pretty sure his nerd mafia would track the trickster down and systematically kill him and his family members.
- mattgilberg, on 01/12/2008, -3/+20Ha ha, I would love to see Steve Job's reaction when he is presenting iPhone 2.0 or whatever and the projector turns off.
- Bhima, on 01/12/2008, -1/+15I'm pretty sure as we speak there is an Apple employee with a TV be-gone testing the expo center for just such pranks.
Apple pretty through with their preparations. I can't imagine something like this hitting the news and them not responding somehow. - AshamedAmerican, on 01/12/2008, -0/+12You didn't finish it, did you?
- Hobolord, on 01/12/2008, -0/+10So if for example, (god forbid) someone came and unloaded a dump truck full of manure onto your car, that wouldn't be "black hat" would it? It would be a security flaw on your part.
- bbear, on 01/12/2008, -3/+11I'd like to see them ban the entire Gizmodo staff or sue Richard Blakeley. He should never be allowed inside a tech convention hall again.
- NSResponder, on 01/12/2008, -1/+8The projectors Steve uses for the keynotes don't have remote controls. We're talking high-end cinema equipment, like you'd find in a movie theater.
-jcr - darvoun, on 01/12/2008, -1/+8I'm happy to see the general tone of comments here.
It was adolescent behavior, a cheap shot. - garionw, on 01/12/2008, -1/+8I wonder if he was at that Windows thing years ago
(with the BSOD) - LostnTransition, on 01/12/2008, -1/+7No no that was just another Windows feature.
- duncanm, on 01/12/2008, -2/+8Major brain fart, Gizmondo.
Well, ya... your approach is kinda funny... and you are showing leadership... so, I'll follow and here's how: Since it looks like you are switching your business model from reporting what's hot in tech to 'creating the news' that I'm sure inflates your ego at someone else's expense... I think I'll just TURN YOU OFF and look to another source for my tech news until you get your act together. (If others agree with this approach just Digg this comment. I'm sure Gizmondo will see the humor in our collective response.) - wm666, on 01/12/2008, -1/+6The cameraman selling the badage. Seems they still not feeling sorry for this?
- VPurpmalkV, on 01/12/2008, -1/+6How about all the potential investors they may have lost while trying to give presentations.
- darkane, on 01/12/2008, -0/+5When was the last time your television randomly shut off? Would it be your first assumption that it magically turned itself off, rather than the signal dropping from an unplugged cable or an issue with the video source? And as I've said to some of the other morons who have made comments like "zomg, theyz is stupid coz they didnt cover teh remote sensorz!": By your logic, everybody should be wearing kevlar and outfitting their vehicles with bulletproof glass, rather than trusting others to not randomly shoot at them.
You, sir, have failed at life. - Syko3599, on 01/12/2008, -0/+5hay is for horses.
- Syko3599, on 01/12/2008, -0/+5ok, if u really want me to.
- darkane, on 01/12/2008, -0/+5As much as you want to believe that you're right, you're not. At all.
- charlie55, on 01/12/2008, -0/+5only a bad person would not feel guilty about keeping people from doing their jobs.
big tv banks are ok to screw with, but ruining presentations is too much. as if public speaking isnt already a hard enough job. - LordVance, on 01/12/2008, -2/+7Then don't go, and don't read about it.... Seriously; whether or not you like a particular event does not mean you have the right to ***** with people's presentations like that. At the end of the day, people put a lot of time and resources into preparing for these events - and there is only so much time in the event for people to see everyones booths. ***** up the presentation and bam, thats one group of people who are going to move on to the next booth on their agenda and not see what you have spent much time and energy preparing for them.
I think your house is silly, and I think you take your house way too seriously. That doesn't give me the right to come ***** with your house while you are in the middle of showing it off to perspective buyers and investors. - JonRick, on 01/12/2008, -1/+5So because this one has the name of the blogger in it? We have to hear about it all over again? Is knowing his name really important enough for the story to be rehashed again? What's next, we find out how old is he and a new article is submitted so it can be dugg up again? Then after that we can find out what his favorite food is. Then maybe next week someone will submit the same story again with photos of him when he was in high school. Oh boy I can't wait!
- steveoco, on 01/12/2008, -2/+6I wonder if any of the companies who got screwed will look at action against gizmondo. How old are the kids that work over there anyways?
And here I thought gizmondo was run by people over 10 years old.. - darkane, on 01/12/2008, -0/+4By your logic, everybody should be wearing kevlar and outfitting their vehicles with bulletproof glass, rather than trusting others to not randomly shoot at them. You are the retard.
- JNudda, on 01/12/2008, -5/+9http://www.digg.com/tech_news/Gizmodo_officially_b ...
- Scheissen, on 01/12/2008, -1/+5dupe
- mhuggins, on 01/12/2008, -7/+11Dude, this is already the TOP STORY on the FRONT PAGE. Buried.
- DocHoliday22, on 01/12/2008, -1/+5"...CES is over, we've got a year for this to all blow over. And Blakeley has a year to think up another stunt" - Spoken like a true *****.
- Loserbait, on 01/12/2008, -3/+6Agreed. I used to think that Gizmodo was just a poorly-designed site but now they've got horribly immature staffers.
What sucks is that clowns like the pranker got in for free :(
Here's hoping that CES start to ban Gizmodo from future events which should start a chain reaction of event organizers ignoring them and anyone else who thinks creating mischief at multi-million dollar events is funny :) - elvenseven, on 01/12/2008, -9/+12He's not just a staffer, he's Gizmodo Editor Brian Lam.
- Krpano, on 01/12/2008, -1/+4for the childish behavior...Gizmodo is out of my bookmars.
- 37RUSSK4N, on 01/12/2008, -3/+6id felt gizmodo had started a downturn not terribly long ago (way before *girl) and this sort of thing just nails it shut for me. they're taking a great thing and pissing it away with their unterbrow style and now for the world to see.. behavior. gg, losers.
- Juntistik, on 01/12/2008, -0/+3go back to 4chan you 8 year old.
- juventusc, on 01/12/2008, -1/+4WTF? he even summited this post. digg needs to stop sucking Nick Denton's(Gawker Media) dick.
- dpmcalli, on 01/12/2008, -2/+5Sue for what exactly? Jeez, I hate people who's first response to anything they don't like is to look for someone to sue. Grown some damn balls and move on with life
- mrASSMAN, on 01/12/2008, -1/+4I think we ALL predicted this, and I was looking forward to it since seeing the video. There is a place for adolescent jackasses, and that is highschool, once you're out of there you should grow up a bit, at least in these types of situations where you're having fun at the expense of others.
and this is coming from an 18-year-old. - aussieNickuss, on 01/12/2008, -2/+4FTA: "The employee in question, Richard Blakeley, is clearly credited, so it shouldn't be difficult to "identify" him, though both Portfolio and Silicon Alley Insider failed to get that essential detail right. "
Are they taking a stab at the competition? - albatross5000, on 01/12/2008, -1/+3Retarded. Even the picture of the guy laughing kind of pisses me off. So now CES and other trade shows can't focus on their displays, but also how to defend against ***** that want to shake things up or something? People were giving talks, showing off new gadgets, and this guy ***** it up for them. Not cool, nor funny. He's an ass and so is gizmodo if they're laughing along with him.
- viksra, on 01/12/2008, -2/+4LINK TO THE VIDEO YOU STUPID ***** DOUCHE!
http://gizmodo.com/343348/confessions-the-meanest- ... - secrity, on 01/12/2008, -0/+2Buried for the picture used in the thumbnail. Also buried for the comments in the article.
- stormof59, on 01/12/2008, -2/+4why are people digging down the people saying this is a duplicate story that has way more diggs in the technology section, cause it is. weird.
- jlgolson, on 01/12/2008, -0/+1Actually, the 150" plasma had an encoded remote and they couldn't turn it off.
- jlgolson, on 01/12/2008, -1/+2That's wrong. He's Richard Blakeley, the videographer. Try reading the article next time.
- laplacian, on 01/12/2008, -1/+2Banning an individual from a conference as large as CES is worthless: there is little chance they could realistically prevent him from attending next year. Meanwhile, Gawker clearly condoned the stunt and profited from it, so if the CEA wasn't retarded they would sanction the company instead of some random intern.
- tejas57, on 01/12/2008, -1/+2i knew this was going to happen. you can imagine them at the macworld keynote:
"your from gizmodo?.. right this way"
it will be "roto-rooter, don't stop till you hit the back of this teeth" - thuang513, on 01/12/2008, -1/+2well it sure ruined the motorola guys presentation...regardless if u lost business, it wud still piss u off if someone kept messing with ur presentation
