- PureForm, on 10/11/2007, -3/+15Or possibly Linus Torvalds' house in Beaverton, Oregon?
- DariusMonsef, on 10/11/2007, -4/+16@pureform... I think they were implying "fun" vacations.
- allaboutdatiki, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10Do they take American Express?
- LordSkywalker, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7It was already said last time this was posted. Most geeks/tech people prefer to get away from it all and just take a break from the tech world mindset. Go camping, to the beach, have a barbeque at the park with family and friends, road trip, etc. Any list involving tech/gadgets/etc. is way off base.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Republic credits are no good.
- eggloaf, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Is anyone else having déjà vu?
- karenitanyc, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2How did they miss the Science Fiction Museum in Seattle? Super geeky and super fun... and there were some women there.
- AriaStar, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Me.
- Unclickable, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3I would add "Burning Man" to the list
- DeusNova, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Akiba is awesome. They have the best game stores ever(you can buy porn there)....and the best electronic stores(8 floor electronic stores)....The maid cafes there are cool, the consist of cute girls wearing french maid costumes....some of the cafes, the skirts on the girls are extremely short. Highly recommended
- nonymous666, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1For #3 (silicon valley excursions), they should have also mentioned the Intel Museum in Santa Clara.
- dvddesign, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Tokyo's in check, but Akihabara? Meh, Kabukicho has far more to offer to the average geek seeking out entertainment. Why settle for maid cafes when you can have Sailor Venus strip nude for 5000Y?
- figz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1While you're in Las Vegas (which is already fun) go to Star Trek: The Experience at the Hilton. http://www.lvhilton.com/entertainment/startrek.shtml It's tons of [geek] fun.
- HsoKinees, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1the southpole?! now that sounds fun! :O
- AriaStar, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Palo Alto. Damn, I love living in Silicon Valley. The Computer History Museum in Mt. View should have been added as well. There is just so much here for the geek to see that it's hard to get sick of the place. I've still got this amazed feeling all the time. Google, Apple, eBay (love 'em or hate 'em), it's all somehow connected to this area.
- ericeman, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Legoland in Denmark
- Manax, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I have to say, I'm not big on vacations. The time away from work is fine, but I'm happy to get some extra time working out, playing video games, working on the house or programming. Something like this is good for me, because it helps with the g/f who doesn't really understand and likes going on vacation...
- f4nt0m4s, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1if you a truly a geek i recommend a good old dose of spring break in florida
get a few drinks in you, hit the beach, and before you know it you'll be in a hot tub with 6 gorgeous women
now isn't that a nice vacation for a geek?
why do geeky things always have to suck...i want some revenge of the nerds action here, spring break spring break! - saralk, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I've been on a school trip to CERN, my physics teacher did his PhD there. His name was Dr Bosworth and would joke that he discovered the Higgs Boson.
Anyway, you can see quite a lot of CERN, including the massive particle accellerators. Most of what the tour guide said went over my head, because it is incredibly bleeding edge stuff. - Ramble, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Gordon Freeman works at the Black Mesa facility in New Mexico.
All he generally does is push samples in for a living. - manistique, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2Who diggs this crap?
- geekelixir, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0of the 8 I"ld honestly only be interested in going to cern and Tokyo
- lastdalek, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0"minus 76 degrees Fahrenheit in winter"
sounds like my kind of holiday! - roflcawpter, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2CERN would be awesome, but isn't most of the facility closed off to the public?
I've always wanted to see what Gordon Freeman does for a living... - looper, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0Photos of Matmata (Tatooine) including Sidi Driss Hotel (it's a dive... really, really bad.. check out the picture we took of the showers)
http://www.ianandwendy.com/OtherTrips/Tunisia/Matmata/slideshow.htm - joaoh82, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0What happend to Ibiza?! Amsterdan!? Prada?! And places where they actualy have WOMEN!!
Come on man... Stay with a bunch of geek in tattoine.... - Eivo, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2WTF, Chernobyl? No thanks.
- JAXXXON, on 10/11/2007, -3/+0Looks like they gave us the old reach around.
