- tehpwnerofn00bs, on 10/24/2007, -10/+175the whole idea is that people will remember it. I know I will. So in the sense that it is very effective, it is a good advertisement.
- mcman1223, on 10/14/2007, -3/+112i think it's great advertising, but definitely a little morbid. well, that was probably the goal.
- dvsbastard, on 10/14/2007, -8/+90Bah... Poor marketing. Why would you want to kill your target audience?! Dead people don't organise funerals!
Would be better with something along the lines of "Some people need a little push in the right direction..." - jlindenbaum, on 10/14/2007, -6/+61It's a fake.
Notice how the footer says:
Jonasstra(ss)e 7, 10551 Berlin Tiergarten, phone: [xxx]
Also the name of the company is
Funeral services Bergermann & Sohn.
No company in Germany (me being German) advertises in a foreign language in their native country, let alone use German and English in the same add. "Funeral services Bergerman & Sohn" c'mon... At least they would have done "Bestattungsdienste Bergermann & Sohn"
As also mentioned, there's too much noise in the JPEG to be un manipulated. - fellowuser, on 10/14/2007, -7/+49Fake - The lighting is not right on the sign.
- Shuk, on 10/14/2007, -2/+40You must be a fun guy at parties.
- SupaFurry, on 01/23/2008, -0/+37Why is a sign in Berlin in English? Is this common in Germany?
- KatherineC, on 10/14/2007, -3/+34That'll seal the deal. Sold. One funeral service coming right up.
- inactive, on 10/14/2007, -1/+31go on then - without re-looking, what was the name of the funeral company?
you have no idea. - psykiv, on 10/14/2007, -0/+281. Close Photoshop
2. Shut down your computer
3. Go outside. - Pssdoff, on 10/12/2007, -3/+31They call that "natural selection"
- joessandwich, on 10/11/2007, -0/+27Your powers of deduction are mindblowing.
- n0t0kayipr0mis3, on 10/14/2007, -1/+27It's totally acceptable cause you have to be a total dumb ass to fall for it.
- spudnic, on 10/14/2007, -0/+21I bet you've seen some pixels in your time.
- fellowuser, on 10/14/2007, -5/+22Also there are different JPEG noise patterns between the sign and the rest of the picture. There's no reflection, no density falloff, the color temp of the white is different from the color temp of the rest of the photo. Also there is a stark difference in the sharpness of the surrounding area and the sign itself. FAKE.
- ThreeDee912, on 10/11/2007, -7/+24Just in case:
MIRROR: http://i20.tinypic.com.nyud.net:8080/k0oig3.jpg - oslointhesummer, on 10/14/2007, -3/+18Yes.
- Hoxie, on 10/14/2007, -3/+15They should have another one that says "aim for the third rail.
- GothAlice, on 10/14/2007, -1/+12And the focus of the text is perfect along the entire length. Shopped.

- ozroy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Exactly! There are two ways of increasing business. You either increase your share of the market, or you make the market larger. This is brilliant! :)
- GfunkGbuss, on 10/14/2007, -4/+13Dugg for perhaps unintentional pun.
- bdmbdm, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9You just know that some idiot is going to take it literally...
- fujimonster, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9Has to be a photoshop. The lighting is off and some of the text doesn't follow the perspective correctly.
- john2kx, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Fail.
- Dundasbro, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6.........
- dimsum05, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6I wouldn't shop there!
- bradd12, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6This is definitely photoshopped, the sign makes a curve with the wall while the text is angled. Funny, but fail.
- Landgarbe, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6The ad is real. I've seen it in Berlin. Here's an other picture of the german version of the ad:
http://werbewahn.net/2007/01/13/ohne-worte/ - fety, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Mythbusters already busted that one.
- theodenking, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Well, it's clever and funny but that's not really the point of advertising. 'Great advertising' attracts customers, and I would have thought that grieving families would go for "dignified and respectful" rather than "clever and funny".
- Drexus, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6The easiest way to see this as a fake is to always check the blacks. I'm a professional in this field as I work in the imaging and print industry. We design and produce everything from magazines to billboard sized ads like the one shown. The dead give-away in this case is the blacks in the lettering are darker then any other part of the photograph. There isn't a printing technology that can get deep blacks anywhere near those levels. There should be some hazed fading of the black where ambient light is reflected off the black surface areas in the print. You can't have a black car that is blacker then the shadow of a hole - especially if there is a slight sheen/gloss to it. So at the most, the black would measure about 87% - at the most... but it turns out that the value is 99% when the tunnel and anywhere else in this photo shows lower black levels. Easily Busted!
- chimaera2005, on 10/14/2007, -0/+5Isn't it amazing how perspective and a wide-angle lens can change everything???
http://img122.imageshack.us/img122/7083/curvylines ... - Tokkii, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Considering the quality of the jokes in this thread, you can totally come back.
- Landgarbe, on 10/14/2007, -0/+5What about the german version:
Sorry: http://werbewahn.net/2007/01/13/ohne-worte/ - KingGorilla, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4no, you're just a pussy :)
- daliminator, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6It's actually pretty common almost everywhere there are big cities for signs to be in English - especially in Europe and Asia. Seoul looks like it could just be a very, very Koreanified city in the States.
- Mononuclear, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6more regurgitated reddit
- goblindegook, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4That's more like it.
- Tokkii, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Well I don't know about anyone else, but I for one thank EvanVolm. Without the breakdown of the joke, I think I would have been staring at this picture all day.
- binarybandit92, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4/notirc
- whoadave, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4And the copy is slightly diagonal — see how well it aligns with the bricks to either side.
- Unremarkable, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I prefer the "Take a running jump here" PSP add.

- richardhenry, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Provokes death?! It's intending to be amusing, not literal. How morbid are you?! (Emo!)
