- tehpwnerofn00bs, on 10/11/2007, -20/+366You know if people had used condoms more in the past, maybe the entire Fox Network wouldn't have been born.
- atdigg, on 10/11/2007, -9/+257Seat belts don't prevent death in 100% of crashes, helmets don't protect the head in 100% of motorcycle crashes = don't drive!
- atdigg, on 10/11/2007, -11/+164Does FOX test all the medication that they advertise for.. oh wait, that's Bill O'Reilly job...
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -10/+148 * 5.4 million new AIDS infections in 1999, 4 million of them in Africa.
* 2.8 million dead of AIDS in 1999, 85 percent of them in Africa.
* 13.2 million children orphaned by AIDS, 12.1 million of them in sub-Saharan Africa.
* Reduced life expectancy in sub-Saharan Africa from 59 years to 45 between 2005 and 2010, and in Zimbabwe from 61 to 33.
* More than 500,000 babies infected in 1999 by their mothers -- most of them in sub-Saharan Africa.
Yeah lets try and stop people using condoms....
(stats blatantly stolen from CNN.com) - jfair, on 10/11/2007, -2/+127And yet I still see 20 Cyalis, Viagra, etc. commercials just about every night. Is Trojan's money less green or something?
- Ianki, on 10/11/2007, -12/+127man oh man. found the video of Bill O'Reilly going off on it.
"i just don't like pig puppets, that's why i wont run it"... Yeah, okay...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFwqjfFj7FM - bbp9857, on 10/11/2007, -8/+110I hate to burst anyone's anti-fox bubble here, but CBS also snubbed it, as did local NBC and ABC affiliates.
- jacvad28, on 10/11/2007, -6/+99condoms dont prevent pregnancy? thanks fox!
looks like its back to the withdrawal method for me !! - kilooneniner, on 10/11/2007, -9/+86lol, pig puppets. O'Reilly is so retarded.
- Liam76, on 10/11/2007, -16/+88I would like to see the actual letter in which fox said that "condoms don't prevent pregnancy."
I find it hard to believe, even for fox, that this is an actual quote rather than a poor paraphrase of what they said. - RealmDown, on 10/11/2007, -5/+75Condoms only treat the symptom.
Pregnancy is caused by beer. - Akaji, on 10/11/2007, -8/+78Why would anyone buy a condom called "Trojan"? That just seems like you're asking for trouble...
- ToadLeg, on 10/11/2007, -10/+77Pregnancy occurs when a man and a woman get married and God wants them to have a baby. It also occurs when God punishes a woman for sinning.
- Rahodeb, on 10/11/2007, -4/+63Yeah, but the implication is that they will escape in the middle of the night and kill your whole village.
- john2kx, on 10/11/2007, -3/+62My load wiped out a village once.
- aliengoods, on 10/11/2007, -0/+57Don't have kids, do you?
- TweedleDan, on 10/11/2007, -5/+59don't worry baby, i'll just pull out....
- Balthazar2000, on 10/11/2007, -5/+44Yet it's ok to broadcast ads for Cialis and Viagra....hmmm.
- akatherder, on 10/11/2007, -5/+40But if you do, DON'T wear a seatbelt.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -10/+45Oh, that's rich... Lessons in morality from Fox "Let's go kill ourselves some damn Iraqis - yay war!" News.
- raybury, on 10/11/2007, -2/+32There's a penalty for early withdrawal.
- andrewgreene, on 10/11/2007, -4/+34As much as I dislike Fox and all of their rhetoric (digg me down if you want, I don't care), why isn't anyone ticked off that (according to the article) CBS isn't running the ad either?
- RealmDown, on 10/11/2007, -1/+30The little suckers have to hide somewhere....
- 1jaxstate1, on 10/11/2007, -10/+38Errr, hate to say this, but Fox is right. No condom can say it will stop pregnancy, all they can offer is to help reduce the risk of pregnancy and STDs/HIV. I mean, it's on the box.
- AtHomeBoy2000, on 10/11/2007, -6/+28no no. Bill O tests all the CONDOMS on his female employees then calls them up later to talk about it.
- jsd8cc, on 10/11/2007, -2/+24When Trojan introduced the condom commercial last month, it was rejected as national advertising by both CBS and Fox. Fox said it objected to the message that condoms can prevent pregnancy, while CBS said it was not “appropriate,”...
"Local affiliates in Pittsburgh for ABC and NBC, two networks that had agreed to run the ad nationally, also snubbed it."
It wasn't just Fox. RTFA. - willcooper, on 10/11/2007, -1/+21Thats because there are signs that tell people that condoms are dangerous. A lot of them are put there by the Catholic church. You can definetly blame a lot of the spread of AIDS within Africa to the late Pope John Paul.
- jaldorisio, on 10/11/2007, -0/+19 FTA: "In the commercial, women in a bar are find themselves sitting next to pigs, one of which metamorphoses into a handsome suitor after it procures a condom from a vending machine. The tag line: “Evolve. Use a condom every time.”
Where does the commercial claim that condoms are 100% effective? As you say, they provide their effectiveness level on the box... they aren't falsely advertising anything. How is this different than any other condom commercial that has come before? Seems to me that the stations in question just don't want to show a condom commercial. - Teej, on 10/11/2007, -0/+18Uh, me thinks you missed the sarcasm.
- 98acura, on 10/11/2007, -2/+20Or the rest of your life... I don't think a load has ever wiped out a village. Loads have however ruined many lives.
- miriclaire, on 10/11/2007, -2/+19Did it supply them with an idiot?
- nsummy, on 10/11/2007, -8/+25The article was mostly about other stations not carrying the commercial and only mentioned fox once. I guess you had to put Fox in the headline to get dugg though.
- mightyzug, on 10/11/2007, -4/+21either you're breeding more new taxpayers, or you're with the terrorists.
- didiman, on 10/11/2007, -2/+18hmm seems like most people posting aren't reading the article (big surprise on digg). The headline is a little misleading considering parts of almost every broadcast network has refused to run the ad.
- mightyzug, on 10/11/2007, -3/+19you obviously don't have children :)
at least not teenagers - unfinite, on 10/11/2007, -0/+16"Look! Someone has given us a condom."
"Let it through the gates"
*Lights go out*
"Everyone! NOW! Burst through the tip!" - RealmDown, on 10/11/2007, -4/+19I reject your direct implication that children are a divine punishment.
- jeddyftb, on 10/11/2007, -3/+18Let's collectively acknowledge that television sucks and move on
- joebob, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13"God punishes a woman for sinning."
And then when the paternity test comes back he then punishes the man. =) - Otto, on 10/11/2007, -4/+17Retarded things are allowed on digg. This explains why you're allowed to comment here.
- FearlessFreep, on 10/11/2007, -6/+18Buried as inaccurate as the summary skews the article, bringing out all the anti-Fox commentaters to remark about their political gripes against Fox News rather than addressing the article
- ngmcs8203, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13@echolalia
I hope that this is your idea of skewed sarcasm. Because what you said ("The holes in the latex are smaller than a sperm, but bigger than an std, so they can go right through the rubber.") sounds like something that would come out of a 13-year olds mouth. - SteelFrog, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11Or 9 months of high interest with a 20 year buffer.
- tech42er, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11He leaves that to the state. :)
- NinjaBoy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10*****. No person could stand to be around bill. Thats why the have to do video calls.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12semen is hard to pass through rubber.
no, angels do not help it through. - Stormflux, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Don't be so sure. GWB started out as a load. Rest assured, there would be a lot more unscathed villages today if Bush Sr. had just worn a Trojan that dark night in '45...
- mistercobber, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9we're screwed. condoms won't work, and congress can't approve a "pullout." ;)
- Error601, on 10/11/2007, -4/+13Don't confuse keyword knee jerk types.
- TomRemixed, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10I have an idea. Let's stop commenting about how you thought the last comment was funny and just digg that person up. I don't care it's you use a Simpsons reference or not.
