- webcure, on 10/11/2007, -15/+301That was a well planned prank.
I digg it! - punx777, on 10/11/2007, -15/+278"Noice!"
- justabum, on 10/11/2007, -6/+86this is an old urban legend.
don't believe everything you read
http://www.snopes.com/autos/law/snaptrap.asp - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -7/+84That is great. There are other way also: I have taken my plates out, put a mask and did the same. Didn't receive a ticket yet! I know some guys shot paint balls on the glass of stationary units. I even saw bags cover them up. Someone is working on a driver plate switcher for cars. Instantly, a plate can be changed from phony to actual with a switch on the dashboard. The best place to practice on visual surveillance is London. If you can beat them you can beat anything. Good Luck.

- blorc, on 10/11/2007, -2/+71That's pretty sneaky. You know the person who opens the mail a big WTF moment.
- kh99, on 10/11/2007, -1/+63I'm sure it's already illegal to display a fake plate.
- WoollyMittens, on 10/11/2007, -1/+55I hate it when people make a story look like a newspaper-clipping to add credibility to a hoax.
- Guydevice, on 10/11/2007, -2/+55-ice!
- slayerab, on 10/11/2007, -12/+63ALthough its a great prank, if somebody pulled this off in America, they'd be sent to Gitmo and called a security threat
- ScottMaximus1, on 10/11/2007, -13/+57I love it more than Snorg Tees girl
- Timmmm, on 10/11/2007, -0/+34They had that in a Bond film years ago.
- Tony611, on 10/11/2007, -5/+39http://www.youtube.com
- sacherjj, on 10/11/2007, -1/+31You understand this was in Australia, right mate?
- SlantyEyes, on 10/11/2007, -5/+34I think thats taking it a little far. It was a good prank, but snorg tees girl is so hot.
- lansuggs, on 10/11/2007, -1/+29Haha, awesome. So begins the next wave of hundreds of copycat pranks!
- realwx, on 10/11/2007, -1/+26Now let's see if it works in America or Canada.
- HunterKiller, on 10/11/2007, -0/+22They did this in the movie "The Transporter." They were European plates, but the protagonist had a whole collection of license plates that could rotate upon pressing a switch.
- TexanPsycho, on 10/11/2007, -6/+26Dugg for using the word "mates" in a seemingly formal newspaper article.
- ObeseSnake, on 11/14/2007, -2/+16Snopes has it from 2003...

Dooh! Already mentioned above by justaburn - petemcfraser, on 10/11/2007, -4/+18Bloody brilliant.
- vofuse, on 10/11/2007, -4/+17Breaking laws is always a real knee-slapper so long as they're laws we don't agree with.
- austin63, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13I was thinking that idea has been around since the early james bond movies.
- masterkenobi, on 10/11/2007, -4/+17I actually was thinking about the license plate switcher thing before and how cool it would be. Just flip a switch, and your license plate will flip over to something fake/real. Though, I would imagine that once people get wind of this having something like this will be made illegal quite quickly.
- TheSabre, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13You say that like it's legal already. I don't know about Australia, but it's certainly already illegal in the States. Any tampering with license plates in most US states is already illegal. Little known fact, most state law's also prohibit license plate frames that cover ANY lettering on the plates, including state mottos and nicknames.
I'm not sure what country you're referring to or how laws are in other countries. But in the US, this would already be illegal. - Downwritemad, on 10/11/2007, -2/+13That takes some stones
- locotx, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12Yes . . Yes you are.
- sacherjj, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12Yeah, that isn't hard.

Don't believe everything YOU read ;o) - g00ee, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10Forget to take your pills?
- Cykaos, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10If you are going to quote the song at least get it right...
- idonthack, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9That's not a mirrow
- givinupthefight, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9The frame law has always bothered me because most car dealer's frames violate it.
- EXreaction, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8And while your at it, ask for a complete record of everything that was ever in the computer's ram, and everything that was sent through it's tubes.
// sarcasm - Ndiggnation, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Or just a screwdriver..
- sacherjj, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Not to mention illegal to use in most places. When the officer walks up to your car after pulling you over and your plate disappears, your ticket just got much bigger.
- fatmatt2000, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9Yeah, she is Kind of a Big Deal.
- Coven, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7both of which Mythbusters busted
- coreoption, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Using them on tollbooths makes you a dick.
- atlex2, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Sometimes cursing ISN'T necessary.
- nreynolds, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5My frame covers part of the E on my plate so it looks like an F. I'm gunna fool everyone.
- mattcoady, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Even a swift kick to the nuts doesn't waste 2 hours and fifteen bucks.
- lNSTlGAT0R, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5It's better to hide the plate than to display fake ones. Check this out:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qS1eW3QlaQM - ubuwalker31, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Oh, and don't forget to hire an expert to testify to the court about this evidence of a massive electronic conspiracy by the local town to fake tickets by modifying proprietary source code, which will likely cost you at least 2x as much as the ticket itself.
- Anrkist, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Maybe they were speeding in a Yaris Hybrid.
- ubuwalker31, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Don't worry, you'll get a ticket from a cop, soon enough, for those license plate covers, as they are illegal most everywhere now.
- sakuraz, on 10/11/2007, -4/+8......Guys, it wasn't about "breaking the law"
It was about getting them back as a revenge.
Please don't condone illegal activities? - djvchris, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I take it they lacked grey poupon as well?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4When I read "America and Canada" it sounded in my head as "America and Canadia" and I was suddenly struck how awesome a name that would be.
- Coven, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Plate frames are illegal in NY, but the cops here rarely enforce it. I've been pulled over twice and didn't receive a ticket for the frames (just for speeding and using my cell phone). Usually they'll only tack on the plate frame violation if you piss them off.
