- DefendThyself, on 12/21/2007, -22/+301A pushy big mouth women cop ? Are the police that desperate for officers they take the bottom of the barrel? This starts exactly the same as every taser video, the person is trying to get away from the agressive cop who is menacing the poor women. Instead of pepper sprays, then pull out the taser the second things get difficult. These officers need more control and restraint and should be charged with aggravated assault by this women.
And they have the freaking balls to charge her with 2 misdemeanors for being loud??????? When did that become a crime???
Ladies & Gentlemen, free speech is officially dead in the USA.... - ghamal, on 12/21/2007, -5/+193FTA: Daytona Police Chief Mike Chitwood said that the woman wasn't complying to demands from an officer and called it "passive physical resistance."
WTF! "Passive resistance" will get you tazed?! /Seriously considering the Lakota offer right now. - doshindude, on 12/21/2007, -8/+151Tasers=Assault and Battery with no probable cause.
- WestonP, on 12/21/2007, -3/+116While some taser cases are unfortunately necessary, using it, or any weapon, against a non-violent person is absolutely pathetic and should not be tolerated. Using pain compliance for non-violent situations is nothing more than torture.
- jaymzdean, on 12/21/2007, -2/+97I remember, when I was a kid, if I was carrying around a stick, I would find myself looking for something to whack with it.
- inactive, on 12/21/2007, -5/+89This ***** is out of control. Tazers should be banned until humans can evolve more.
- inactive, on 12/21/2007, -5/+88Ah. Super.
So WHEN is law enforcement going to realize that many cops have given up on being good cops and just rely on fear and tazers? - bluezombie, on 12/21/2007, -5/+88This will continue until we make it stop. Contact your representatives and make them fix it.
- rabidsquirrelOG, on 12/21/2007, -3/+82"Wright was not disciplined, and police Chief Mike Chitwood defended her actions. Beeland was refusing an officer's orders, and using a Taser avoided use of other weapons, he said." ~ Now, I read this as the Chief essentially saying that "She's lucky we didn't shoot her"... Police state indeed...
- TheKarmaPolice, on 12/21/2007, -6/+73TAKE THE TASERS AWAY FROM COPS.
- DFENS, on 12/21/2007, -2/+66First reaction? This isn't true. After watching the video, i wish i was right.
- superyounan1, on 12/21/2007, -5/+66People are just too ***** stupid to be trusted with a taser, so just get rid of them already
- fredricko, on 12/21/2007, -0/+59Next in the news: Police react with violence to non-violent protests.
- Todamont, on 12/21/2007, -6/+65It's ***** and completely ridiculous. The cop should not have tasered that woman. That officer should be arrested for assault, and fired.
- RogerStrong, on 12/21/2007, -5/+54The Taser was supposed to be an alternative to shooting someone.
Instead, jackbooted thugs are using it as an alternative to the exclamation point. - hipnerd, on 12/21/2007, -5/+51The ***** it doesn't.
- jaymzdean, on 12/21/2007, -3/+45Judge: Why did you kick the little girl in the head?
Defendant: Obviously, I thought I was in a game of Mortal Combat.
Judge: Well, now that you know that it was just a little girl, and not a game of Mortal Combat, can you agree that kicking the child in the head might not have been the best thing to do?
Defendant: Well, if you want to sit back now and play "Monday morning quarterback", but according to the information I had to go on at the time, I believe I reacted appropriately.
/absurd - inactive, on 12/21/2007, -16/+55Digg article has a lie for a title.
She didn't get tazed for swearing, it was just mentionned in the report that she swore. It's just another cop who couldn't overpower a suspect so she tazed her. Because she's out of shape and weak.
She's supposed to be able to take care of a yoga instructor ffs. She's a cop. - chicagobiker, on 12/21/2007, -3/+41Take the tasers away from the police!
- Dunhamzzz, on 12/21/2007, -1/+36"Beeland was refusing an officer's orders, and using a Taser avoided use of other weapons, he said."
Yeah that bitch should have been stabbed or shot at or something... - Grummond, on 12/21/2007, -1/+34This episode of Reno911 clearly shows how the writers strike affects the quality of TV programming.
- inactive, on 08/11/2008, -5/+37If someone deserves to be tased for being a stupid *****, I guess you're next in line.
- ewagnerjr2000, on 12/21/2007, -8/+40Man, I hate best buy. Not for this, but they treat customers like crap. Son Of a bizzzzztttccchhhh! lol
- spyd3rweb, on 12/21/2007, -0/+30Guess you get to tase yourself in the face.
- diggit83, on 12/21/2007, -6/+36Taking the risk of killing someone just because they raise their voice at you is absurd. This is really out of hand.
- airencracken, on 12/21/2007, -10/+38Profanity is a crime now?
Freedom is truly dead. - j0hnc0ry, on 12/21/2007, -1/+29Cattle prod - shock tool for keeping a herd of cattle under control. Shock a couple cows and the rest fall in line.
Taser - Shock tool to keep a herd of humans under control. Shock a few dozen people and the rest fall in line.
WTF have we come to? Where are we heading? Don't be part of the herd. - teaBagger, on 12/21/2007, -3/+31Unfortunately, from an external perspective most see the USA as having the least amount of freedom / tolerance than anywhere else in the world.
Internally, it would be nigh impossible to see this.
This what you think is the rest of the world needs, and you fight for the right to push this on others. - Elwood19k20, on 12/21/2007, -5/+33The mentality of the officer and the mentality of the police chief demonstrate complete sickness in regards to these actions. What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty? The officer could have simply followed the woman to her car and took her licence plates and followed due process to find out who the woman was, and then match the name on the credit card if there was any suspicion. Using force against an individual and electrocuting them is not justice. It is only a gross infringement on our civil liberties. This is just as bad as the woman that was arrested for cursing her overflowing toilet inside of her own home. Oh and by the way, the UN has listed tasers as a torture device. Whats next, waterboarding in the middle of best buy?
- NoCt1, on 12/21/2007, -6/+33I am going to get a taser and then next time i get pulled over it will be a tase off...
- Scottamus, on 12/21/2007, -4/+27This is just a power trip for these pigs. It puts the lotion on the skin or else it gets the tase again.
- bwdd, on 12/21/2007, -5/+28Use a taser only if you'd use a gun. We need to drill that into cops' heads.
- Matthew720, on 12/21/2007, -6/+28Actually it does. Go look it up, armchair lawyer.
- inactive, on 12/21/2007, -15/+37Her disorderly conduct was completely reasonable. The police officer and Best Buy employee had just slandered her. Her arm raising obviously was in self defense in a vain attempt to defend herself from the police officer was violently assaulting her. Had she been carrying a gun she was within her rights to shoot the cop dead.
- dhVyse, on 12/21/2007, -3/+25***** ridiculous.
- UberNick, on 12/21/2007, -2/+23I can't tell you how disgusted I am to read that. Do you have the intellectual prowess to consider who decides the meaning of "profanity"? If anything, the speech that's most threatened and most in need of protection will be the first called "profanity" by anyone who stands to gain by limiting it. I really hope you don't live in America.
- Joomal, on 12/21/2007, -10/+30Don't tase me sis!
- Snakedal337, on 12/21/2007, -2/+22because theyve been doing a lot... this government is well beyond *****.
- jeffsback2223, on 12/21/2007, -7/+26Its called "Free Speech" not "Conditional Speech"
- jaymzdean, on 12/21/2007, -2/+21reepax: enemy of the Constitution (domestic).
- CraigJ, on 12/21/2007, -0/+17I was hoping that you were being sarcastic, but alas, no.
- banmaster, on 12/21/2007, -3/+20You mean "till the police can evolve more"
- norabarnacl3, on 12/21/2007, -6/+23I dont understand why nobody sues the officers and the departments.
- crichton101, on 12/21/2007, -0/+17How many non violent protests have ended that way already? Quite a few me thinks, especially after seeing multiple videos online of cops either interrupting non violent protests, or the video of the cops planning to engage a non violent protest before anything had happened that might of justified their actions.
- inactive, on 12/21/2007, -4/+21"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
Read it. Then read it again. And again. Keep reading until it sinks in. - chicagobiker, on 12/21/2007, -5/+21Um, lets correct that there ok? She was not told she was under arrest nor was she resisting arrest. She was arguing with a civil servant of the people who was overstepping her investigatorial duties. She had done nothing wrong and was not a suspect of anything.
Tasing anyone you want to talk to who refuses to talk to you is not police work and NOT what the taser is supposed to be used for. - SinisterK, on 12/21/2007, -4/+20Tase now, ask later. This is ridiculous.
- Sidonas, on 12/21/2007, -2/+18Yes, stalking towards and individual while threatening them (Yes, I consider the statement 'I will taze you' to be a threat) is an example of verbal communication... This police officer should have been an adult and talked the woman down. She wasn't running, she wasn't threatening anyone. The police officer escalated this, not the woman.
- Azriel7, on 12/22/2007, -0/+15Because most of the time the judge will rule in favor of the cops, even when there is a FREAKING VIDEO showing abuse of power.
- gn0stik, on 12/21/2007, -3/+18Really? You can shoot a cop for forcefully trying to arrest you?
I have a conceal and carry permit, and even I know that that's complete *****. You can't shoot ANYONE unless you are in fear of your life being taken. And even then you better have a spare 20 grand laying around for your defense.
Go try your theory out though and get back to us. -
