- crexor, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16yea...if you hadnt noticed, no one on digg has signatures in their comments, unless they are spamming, im not sure why you find it so important that you take the time to press enter and type "-z00k" after each of your comments, and why you wouldnt just post under the name "z00k"
- Pattyo13, on 05/14/2009, -0/+10not everyone has a mailbox on the curb they can put stuff in.
plus, for a lot of outgoing large packages, i prefer to drop them in the box on the way to work instead of leaving them sit in my box for anyone to steal - will-rom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Stop crying, then compare titles. This one is much better. I know where my mailbox is, but where are the big blue ones?
edit: Your link goes to lifehacker, not the app. So no, it does not work. - tbossme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I have been looking for something like this, too. I have searched the USPS.com site for mailbox locations many times with no results. How can the Postal Service NOT list remote mailbox locations? Ridiculous. It must be easier to raise the price of stamps.
- Pattyo13, on 05/14/2009, -0/+4"Oh yeah, and that link works too."
i call BS - your link to lifehacker works. the link to the app doesn't. i'd digg a dupe that went to the end location as opposed to the original that has a two sentence writeup about it followed by a link. - Pattyo13, on 05/14/2009, -0/+4i can't get to the site, but i've been looking for something like this.
where are they getting this information, and why is it not available on usps.com? or can i just not find it on there? - webtekie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3this just cries for Google Maps mashup
- Pattyo13, on 05/14/2009, -0/+3back up!
totally needs a google maps interface - david76, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yes, your link to a blog rather than the actual app works great. Try linking directly next time.
- BigJuiceMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2kinda sad that this isn't available off of USPS.gov
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Is this exactly the kind of information the terrorists are looking for?
(I think I'm kidding, not that that would keep our administration from removing access to the site in the name of security.) - PatrickFisher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hmm. there does seem to be something wrong. For me it says the nearest USPS mailbox is 500 kilometers away, and the next pickup is... 21/04/2009?!?
- patrobyn00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1seems to not be working? sounds interesting though!
- VeganG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1My apartment has no place for outgoing mail. It's annoying. Luckily, there's a mailbox at the corner next to the apartment building, and one at the corner next to where I work.
- jcaino, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i just use the shipping area in my building at work....there's usps, fedex, ups, and airborne express boxes
- Namco, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2What a *****. Hey z00k, come pwn me, I'm at 162.119.64.112 lol
- Pattyo13, on 05/14/2009, -0/+1i had been driving a good distance until i found one the other day like a block away. unfortunately, it was behind this shopping center right by my house. i would have never found it by myself.
- muchocheeto, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Do you expect us to deliver Netflix DVD envelopes to the actual post office?
- stryker2you, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@Deaddog
I actually heard (or read) the same thing....wasn't there an article on here about it? - kaprikorn26, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1Hard to say whether it's better because the site is down :(
- drlha, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2muchocheeto: I don't know about where you live, but at my house the mailman picks up my Netflix returns from my mailbox, so I only have to walk 20 feet from my front door to mail them. The only time I've ever used a USPS mailbox is when mailing a postcard while on vacation.
- 7daydietplan, on 10/23/2009, -0/+1Great article, this is why I love this site.
http://creditcardrates.co.za/credit-card-interest- ... - Nothlit, on 07/21/2009, -0/+1Blue streetside mailboxes still have a place in areas with commercial businesses that need to send out mail at the end of the day, or people who live in apartment buildings that don't have an outgoing mail slot.
- rejectpenguin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@crexor
Its so that his "hacker" clan can recognize him... lol.
http://digg.com/gadgets/Just_like_every_other_gadget_light_bulbs_go_flat (read his post about 1/4 down the page.)
P.S z00k please don't hack me. - Gorni2134, on 11/02/2009, -0/+0This is a great post. If you need more informations about stamps and stamping, visit: http://selfinkingstampsonline.com/
- webtekie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0right, they will sabotage the mail boxes so your credit card bills won't come on time and you'll have to make up a better excuse why your payment was late :)
- delitant, on 10/08/2009, -1/+1Thanks so much for this! This is exactly what I was looking for: http://debtsettlementonline.co.cc
- pairanoyd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1There are none around here anymore.
They removed every single mailbox in the entire county and surrounding counties after 9/11.
I complained to the post master and he said they were removed because it wasn't economical to drive around and pick up from them.
*****. Like the one at the grocery store. The postman drives up to the grocery store every day, parks out front and walks in to deliver their mail, along with the mail to the other stores in the little shopping strip.
He has to walk past the outdoor mailbox every day.
I think the real reason they removed them is because of unfounded FEAR and maybe because of vandals, but most likely just from ***** fear.
Now everyone in the area has to drive (burn gas and make pollution) and make a giant clusterf*ck in the post office parking lot.
Boy, thats great eh? One truck that went past the mailboxes anyway versus hundreds of cars that must now drive to the post office, burn gas and make pollution.
Wait, that sounds like a vast right wing conspiracy to make us buy more gas! - Vulpes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Check out http://dropboxes.info for a (better) another interface with the same info.
- eka83, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Great for those of us moving into college right now
- dexbot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I have been looking for this as well.
Why doesn't usps.gov have this on their site??? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1@namco
your real ip address doesn't match up with the one you just provided. - DeeFonz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0The google maps interface has arrived!!!
http://www.mailboxmap.com/
digg it here http://digg.com/design/Google_Map_For_Blue_USPS_Mailboxes - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1@namco
continued...
way to look like a tough guy. you are lucky that i am a man of our Lord Jesus Christ. otherwise i would have hacked into your ***** dell lappy and made your battery explode and you would think it was a recall. however i do not Sin.
-z00k - wnypatriot, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0And other people simply open their eyes when looking for a mailbox. Honestly...
- marix, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2Hurrah mailboxes!!!
- deaddogdays, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Aren't the blue mailboxes (along with the older stamp machines) being removed?
- Ghostal, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3Already posted two hours before this one: http://digg.com/world_news/Find_Your_Nearest_Mailbox
Oh yeah, and that link works too.
So, what's up with digg? How do I post the same story, earlier, and get three hits? This one makes the front page. - shartman, on 10/12/2007, -10/+4Call me crazy but I just put my outgoing mail in my mailbox and put up the AMAZING red flag!
- Pattyo13, on 05/14/2009, -11/+1...his awesome website that he apparently took down moments after i posted the above comment
...nevermind, it's back now
http://z00k.z0.ohost.de/ - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -14/+2you sound way too excited for this site!!
-z00k - Pattyo13, on 05/14/2009, -14/+1what's he spamming anyway, his awesome website?
