She said that she would like to meet with potential buyers, but did not imply anywere that it was for anything beyond business.

Smells like a scam/fraud to me....

She might just the front piece of the auction, although not the actual owner of the car. Maybe not, but that is one possible scenario that comes to mind. Even if it is exactly as the article says, there is something strange about the deal. You would have to be a sucker to spend that much on a car anyway.
