We'd politely go over to them and ask that they take off the glasses. They'd actually laugh when they realized how it looked from a bank employee's standpoint. No one gave me any righteous indignation or anything, and people were understanding of why we were asking that.

Being reasonably vigilant is prudent. Passing laws restricting dress because a tiny, tiny handful of us are bank robbers is fascism.

Oh wait, hats aren't allowed... - samk, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Unlike the spectacular scenes from movies, where the robber pulls out a gun and yells, "Everybody down on the floor," most bank robbers want to get in and out of the bank without getting noticed. That means quietly standing in line and slipping the teller a note.
With a law like this, people who wear hats will draw attention to themselves from the moment they walk in the bank. - fkr3, on 10/10/2007, -7/+14Here in Costa Rica you're not allowed to wear hats / helmets etc. And you go through a metal detector. And if you have a problem with that there's a guy with a pump action shotgun who'll happily discuss your future with you. The end result isn't an invasion of your privacy it's a more secure environment for accessing your funds.
