- NucleaRR, on 05/12/2008, -10/+1314A 17-year old with a P.h. D in Physics who is married and has a kid would not need to ask this question.
- jggube, on 05/12/2008, -9/+689Who asked that, Doogie Howser?
- Conway, on 05/12/2008, -15/+440The writer of that question was just trying show that it doesn't matter what your circumstances are. If you are under 18, you need a work permit.
I'm 17 years old, but I have a PhD. Do I need a work permit? YES
I'm 17 years old, but I am married to a 21 year old. Do I need a work permit? YES
I'm 17 years old. blahblahblah, Do I need a work permit? YES! - blinky04, on 05/12/2008, -10/+338Answer:
Yes. Anyone who has not reached their 18th birthday needs a work permit.
I would also like to add that the question above it is slightly questionable as well. The answer was yes, you can bring your 12 year old to work to clear tables. - mvanhorn, on 05/12/2008, -3/+256For those of us manually typing that in to see if it's real.. it is! http://www.dol.state.ga.us/em/faq_em.htm

- dcmcderm, on 05/12/2008, -4/+213crap...my buddy is 17 but his PhD is in chemistry, I guess I'll have to tell him that I don't know if he needs a work permit or not.
- damnitdaniel, on 05/12/2008, -6/+18517 married and a child? God, Georgia is a beautiful state.
- thall, on 05/12/2008, -2/+162More importantly, why is that question frequently asked? Maybe Georgia should loosen up on that law and bring all those PhD's in!
- bicyclethief, on 05/12/2008, -5/+151But this is Georgia.
- orientis, on 05/12/2008, -3/+144What a clear way to convey that information.
- inactive, on 05/12/2008, -4/+140I am only 18 and I have a PhD in Alchemy.
- Irlande, on 05/12/2008, -6/+135I've always wondered that.
Atleast now I know. - unicronband, on 05/12/2008, -1/+118If a 17 year old PhD. leaves Portland, OR heading east at 60 MPH at the same time as his 25 year old lawyer wife and 3 children leave Cleveland, OH heading west at 55 MPH, will he still need a work permit?
- Balloondoggies, on 05/12/2008, -1/+110375 Alchemy in Warcraft doesn't count
- javier182gt, on 05/12/2008, -3/+109As a 17 year teacher with a PhD in Mathematics, I am glad some one else asked that question first. Don't want to look foolish in front of my 13 year old colleagues and my Siberian pet tiger.
- zephyr42, on 05/12/2008, -0/+105I started to think... hmmm i'm 17 with a Ph.D in biochemistry, not physics.... i guess i don't need a work permit.
- albaghly, on 05/12/2008, -3/+86i can totally go for the 17 married with a kid, but um yeah, 17 with a Ph.D in physics? if so, then damn, the Georgia Department of Child Labor should be asking YOU that question to see what you think.
- catfish182, on 05/13/2008, -1/+92thanks for explaining. I bet you are the life of the party
- TheCoreh, on 05/12/2008, -1/+80Well, but I'm sure he knows a lot about the laws of work.
- digjam, on 05/12/2008, -25/+110Ph.D== Phoney degree?
- Fordi, on 05/12/2008, -1/+74It's hyperbole. They're giving an extreme example of an excuse for working underage without a permit, then saying that no, that is not a valid excuse. Go to the URL given in the image and scroll down to the answer.
- Iztikeit, on 05/12/2008, -0/+67Knowing a lot about physics doesn't necessarily mean he knows about the work laws.
- yacks, on 05/12/2008, -0/+64with a Phd in physics no less
- drkmccrthy, on 05/12/2008, -2/+68I'm 17 years old, born, raised, and still living in Thailand. Do I need a Georgia work permit? NO.
- str1fe, on 05/12/2008, -8/+69That's it, I'm officially embarrassed for my state.
- stormspire, on 05/12/2008, -0/+57No, that is the sole exception.
- indypunx, on 05/12/2008, -2/+58Your physics professors weren't knocked up 17 year old girls? Where did YOU go to school?
- thcobbs, on 05/12/2008, -1/+53From the looks of things... that PhD was already loose enough.
- lumpking69, on 05/12/2008, -12/+61no one from Georgia has a PHD in physics !
- h4mx0r, on 05/13/2008, -0/+43I'm 17 years old and I have a work permit, do I need a work permit?
- mhuggins, on 05/13/2008, -0/+44I was born in 1864, but in 1893 I traveled through time to the year 1998. My physical being is 17 years old, but I was technically born 144 years ago. Do I need a work permit?

- richardPM, on 05/12/2008, -1/+30you are embarrassed because this writer has a sense of humor?
- tito184, on 05/12/2008, -1/+30For those of you who don't this is true, I know from personal experience. I had to listen to a guy yell at me for 20 minutes after he couldn't figure out how to fill out a form. He won a Nobel prize in medicine a few years prior.
