- 80hd, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6what I find extraordinary is that these were done in the 70's. Spending the time to learn how to do this without the benefit of an LCD showing you instant results is quite impressive.
- AlpineStars777, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6+1 for Salmon Dance
- mikesbaker, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Nice the picture posters finally found their thesaurus.
- wvannus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Actually, it is easier most the time with film. Getting the exposure right and keeping the shutter open isn't all that difficult. I have yet to run across a digital camera that can sustain a 8+ hour long exposure (star swirls.)
- Jugalator, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Hmm, that's not the only interesting looking thing on that blog... O_O

You spend less than a minute to take a long exposure shot. Photoshopping would take much longer. - kryx2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2http://tochka.jp/pikapika/2007/03/pika_pika_2007_release_1.html -- permalink here
- suxmonkey, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Those are some truly great ones. Here are some, basically street graffiti with light sticks:

And here's a television commercial done the same way:

http://tochka.jp/pikapika/ - Jazzillion, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2To shed some extraordinary light on this posting, the videos after the light drawings kick ass. What they don't tell you is the Salmon Dance is a form of dynamic architecture. Blow your mind, didn't I?

Even if Photoshop WAS around, you're completely missing the point here: ART is supposed to be a PLEASURE. Photography, for one, is so much fun, you must really not know a thing about it if you think it's just as satisfying to do with Photoshop...
I'm not saying "respect it", but that was pretty lame, dude. - paranoidbrick, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1This guy is really good. I'm glad to see someone doing something different in the area.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1My apologies, As a true digger I clicked on this link because it was a picture so didn't have to read anything. I didn't see that it was from the 70's.
- jester55, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1anyone got a link to show you how to do that? i really wanna be able to make cool effects like that.
- KizardLing, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1My favorite example of light drawing is still Gjon Mili's picture of Picasso, in which Picasso draws a centaur in mid-air:

- quaxon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1*****, i thought i invented this ***** when i was doing it 4-5 years ago! oh well, his ***** blows mine out of the water.
- PaulOwen, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Meeeh. Forget the light photos ...

- Piedramente, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3I believe Sprint is using this technique in their recent commercials.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I find more pleasure and satisfaction in taking a giant dump than looking an or creating art. AnD tHaTS ThE TRuTh!
- QuentinMani, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0All pain is a punishment, and every punishment is inflicted for love as much as for justice.
- opusaz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0One of those is the cover art for Synergy's "Game" album, released in 1979, back in when synthesizers were all the rage.

- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -7/+1These are cool but couldn't you just do this in photoshop with 1/10 the effort and time it takes to do these long exposure shots.
- bbrigg1, on 10/10/2007, -10/+2Uhhh, not usually.
