- proseandpromise, on 12/21/2007, -7/+201:( There is a definite tendency in American Christianity to read our country into the Biblical story. It comes from a lack of historical understanding.
- alvarezg, on 12/21/2007, -11/+164People this stupid are a danger to society. They can be led to do anything.
- Cryptocracy, on 08/17/2008, -13/+139this religious fanaticism is nothing more than mental illness.
- ashmael, on 12/21/2007, -14/+128Well, a lack of historical understanding is what enables them to maintain their religion in the first place...
- Ineedanap, on 12/21/2007, -8/+92IF you havent seen it it- check out Jesus Camp . Its frightening- similar to this...
Im starting to think the britts were glad those mad religious nutbags sailed off into the ocean! - morningmatters, on 12/21/2007, -6/+82I saw this on CNN two nights ago. Great comedy. The thing with Dallas, or the South in general is that there are more strip joints in these supposedly more socially conservative areas than anywhere else in this country.
- QuantumBios, on 12/21/2007, -5/+74This country is on the highway to hell... ;_P sorry , had to.
- ChristPissed, on 12/21/2007, -10/+76The lunatics have taken over the assylum.
- Shiftgood, on 12/21/2007, -8/+65errr... understanding.... period.
- YogiWanKenobi, on 12/21/2007, -6/+60What are you talking about? Jesus spoke English!
- digggggggggg, on 12/21/2007, -3/+55In high school, once overheard an argument over whether Jesus was Baptist or Methodist.
Lack of historical understanding indeed. - bizneil, on 12/21/2007, -5/+49ugh. these religious fanatics will be the end of all of us.
- SickMonkey, on 12/21/2007, -1/+41My first thought when I watched the video was that it was some sort of a parody. When I realized these people were serious though, I wasn't sure whether to feel sorry for them or be freaked out by them.
- frsrblch, on 12/21/2007, -9/+47Don't forget reason.
- MattB123, on 12/21/2007, -2/+38And was white. Now if only we could do something about the long hair...
- protogenxl, on 12/21/2007, -2/+35I think US Route 42 is holier
- cliffzdude, on 12/22/2007, -4/+36This ***** really makes me sick to my stomach. The average Christian in the states thinks this is what it is, loony *****.
What is worse, Digg'rs are lead to believe if you have a faith in a higher power, you believe this ***** is just what faith looks like.
I know it may blow your mind, but many Christians are very intellectual, educated, well read, and comprehend the physical universe just like anybody else.
Yes evolution is real. Yes the earth is billions of years old. And yes I believe in God, and I believe that God created everything. You see, just because we see the mechanics of what and who we are, and how we got here doesn't change faith. Shame on Christians who want to pound faith into the rest of the world. ...and shame on Christians who think that I-35 is an angelic highway or biblical proportions. So, what's I-69? Forty years of darkness? Earthquakes, volcanoes? The dead rising from the grave? Cats and Dogs living together? - signal15, on 12/21/2007, -0/+32Are you ***** kidding me? This is like a real life Onion article. How can people be this ***** stupid?
- DiscoJohn, on 12/21/2007, -4/+31If you wanna see holiness, drive down some of the highways in my hometown. So holey you can see right through to the dirt.
- Gryffydd, on 12/22/2007, -1/+22A friend of mine went to a Catholic university. He had a classmate who was shocked to find out Jesus wasn't Catholic.
- zubi, on 12/21/2007, -1/+21Im glad I live closer to route 666 then Hwy 35.
BTW there is nothing holy about a road that goes through kansas. I promise you that. - wigz, on 12/21/2007, -1/+20Religion would be way less cheesy if everyone involved didn't act like they had Turrets Syndrome for God.
- SlvrEagle23, on 12/22/2007, -4/+23Just wait until the Mormons get word of this...
"And yay, Jesus said unto John, 'You might want to avoid traffic in the central Oklahoma City area, take the turnpike instead,' and it was good." - TopherT, on 12/21/2007, -2/+20Well, the old testament is a part of the Christian tradition, you can't just shuffle it under the rug because of it's hateful, genocidal and immoral god figure. To ignore it would be to lack historical understanding.
- inactive, on 12/22/2007, -1/+17just when you think you've reached the limits of how stupid fundies can be, they go blasting right on through with a blissful head of steam, what colossally ignorant turds.
- inactive, on 12/21/2007, -0/+16Hmm.
I'm going to have to call dumbass on that.
I guess the WTO protesters should just go home and quietly wait for the WTO to tell them what the future will be like.
Damn, that was a moronic comment.
Protesting what you feel isn't right is neccessary for democracy.
Or doesn't that matter? - Matt2k, on 12/22/2007, -1/+17Don't you see! A bridge collapsed on I-35. And 44 years ago something else happened nearby along those 1,000+ miles of interstate highway. THE CONNECTION IS UNDISPUTABLE -- this highway is blessed! By.. bad things happening every half century. ***** it, I dunno either.
- Zlorp, on 12/21/2007, -1/+17it never ceases to amaze me just how stupid religion makes people.
- lazydrumhead, on 12/21/2007, -2/+17I'm a Christian, and this is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. The chapters and verses were created long after the bible was written...
- Paktu, on 12/21/2007, -2/+17Incidentally, I-35 is the only good thing to ever come out of Iowa.
/I keed, I keed - platypibri, on 12/21/2007, -1/+16This is easy to refute. Mathew 7:14 says: "For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it." I-35 is a big ole' eight laner that millions travel on. It's can't POSSIBLY be the Highway of Holiness.
And this can serve as object lesson in taking scripture out of context. - floridiot2, on 12/21/2007, -1/+16In Soviet Russia, meme kills you
- MacEnvy, on 12/21/2007, -4/+19"I'm a Christian and none of my Christian friends would fall for something so dumb."
Just so you know, this sentence is pure comedy gold for those of us who aren't religious. - allahuakbar, on 12/21/2007, -4/+18I see atheist-bashing every day, what country do you live in?
- CrackIsWack, on 12/21/2007, -2/+16Agreed. This I-35 garbage, along with other religious madness, is all bona-fide LAUGHABLE!
- cusoman, on 12/21/2007, -1/+15Come on guys, these are the same type of people that believe in that Bible Code nonsense. You can't seriously think all Christians draw parallels like this.... can you?
- elhaf, on 12/21/2007, -1/+15Wow, what a nutty bunch. I wonder if they mean 35E or 35W in this area? Or are both mentioned in the bible?
- ToastyMallows, on 12/21/2007, -2/+16I think I speak for everyone when I say "Fail."
- Identity4, on 12/21/2007, -3/+16And he hunted vampires in Ontario...
- AzureRise, on 12/21/2007, -2/+13And by asylum you mean the United States.
- skews13, on 12/21/2007, -1/+12karl marx was right.it is the opiate of the masses
- sfacets, on 12/21/2007, -1/+12Evangelicals? Perhaps. Religious fundamentalist fanatic Christian? Hell yes.
- techweenie, on 12/21/2007, -1/+12I believe I have a 'holy bank account.' If I can get enough folks like this to believe and pray for it, it might grow to an unholy size.
- Terr01, on 12/22/2007, -1/+11I see the "Jesus overrode it" explanation as reasonable, but often applied inconsistently. Sell off your daughter as a slave? Jesus fixed it. Leviticus saying homosexuality is an abodmination? "Uh... no... Jesus... uh.... that part's still okay."
- inactive, on 12/22/2007, -0/+10HALLELUJAH BROTHER!....PRAISE THE FORD!!!!!
- roflcopters, on 12/21/2007, -0/+9How can anyone take these people seriously?
- inactive, on 12/21/2007, -10/+19The words 'evangelical' and 'Christian' are getting tossed around a lot lately and a very broad brush is being associated with them. Reading this story made my eyes roll as much as it made most others' roll.
However, that doesn't mean you can pin this flag on all evangelicals nor on all Christians. It seems that it's OK to do this broad brush bashing of Christians but not with Muslims, Atheists, Mormons......etc. Every group has it's bad apples and/or misinformed/misguided followers. That being said, these people are nuts. - spydirweb, on 12/21/2007, -1/+10so wait... does that mean Texas is hell and Minnesota is heaven?
- SupaFurry, on 01/23/2008, -3/+12"Belief" has nothing to do with it. If you'd understand this point, you wouldn't have posted such an embarrassing, idiotic thing in the first place.
- allahuakbar, on 12/21/2007, -3/+12Yes they are. Any fanatical religious group is dangerous.
