- nihilite, on 11/12/2007, -0/+8I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain. - GreyICE, on 11/13/2007, -0/+8Sure... just keep drinking the kool aid.
- daveconrey, on 11/12/2007, -3/+10This was an extremely poignant post for me at the exact right time.
- tucsonsun13, on 11/12/2007, -0/+5Danger focuses the mind.
- lifetosuccess, on 11/13/2007, -1/+6Acting in spite of the fear is the only way for us to grow as human beings.
- Ellipsys, on 11/12/2007, -0/+5Mental illness is not an illusion, it is typically characterized by an imbalance of chemicals caused by a number of factors. It can be a lot of things, but an illusion is not one of them. Unless of course you're one of those people who likes to give most of their paycheck to "auditing" to tell you that dead alien souls make you feel sad.
- carnellm, on 11/12/2007, -2/+7This post was dead on about what we are trying to deal with. Good insight into a hard problem.
- LindsayP, on 11/12/2007, -1/+6This lady has a real voice, she can make words work, when people dig open their hearts and communicate, they make the net a worthy place.

- betterfasternow, on 11/13/2007, -0/+4Perhaps other comments are from people who are busy making money, but decided to drop in and tell a friend of them (very quickly) that they think she rocks. Then they probably went back to the life they have actually accomplishing things. Not everyone spends as much time on digg as you do, obviously, so they most likely missed the memo entitled "Please make sure your comments meet zspeed78's literary standards. It's important to him, otherwise he'll worry you're a zombie."
Good to see _you've_ got the time to post so many comments on this thread, though. Thanks for sharing! LOL - jdubdub, on 11/12/2007, -1/+4So THATS why nobody likes me. I'm too entrepreneurial :P
- wearesharks, on 11/12/2007, -0/+3Naomi's blog has replaced the ny times as my morning coffee ritual. She is honest and insightful. This post in particular is full of the candor and humility that keeps me coming back.
- spyd3rweb, on 11/12/2007, -1/+4Stop being a girly man!
- soniasimone, on 11/12/2007, -2/+5Absolutely excellent post, smart and brave and honest.
- jstanden, on 11/13/2007, -0/+3Dugg for the follow-up post on her site: (under "Advice about Digg")
"...Two, you may not want to admit to 20,000 people that you were on welfare, that you and your husband can’t agree on where to live, and that you take issue with a religion that has 13,000,000 members. Just an idea." - firefox3000, on 11/13/2007, -0/+3you can always break brain activity down to chemical reactions just like you can break throwing a tennis ball down to movements of energy on a subatomic level caused by 217 neutrons of force, not to mention that matter itself is just wavelengths of energy which basically means that a tennis ball is nothing but pure chaotic energy.
If we thought on these subatomic levels all the time we will only spread confusion. to put it simply, chemical reactions in the brain is really just a flow of thoughts and there really is no right or wrong thoughts, there is simply the very naturally chaotic flow of the mind that everybody possesses. To say "Mental illness" is to say "flow of thought patterns unlike the typical flow of thought patterns" and being alternative is not ILL or WRONG or INSANE, its just DIFFERENT. All mental illnesses are just social constructs completely fabricated by medical examiners who need these categories of illnesses to solve their patients "problems" but these constructs are still just constructs and are not actually real.
On a final note, I don't believe I possess the current technology in our current timespace to communicate with the undead, let alone alien undead. - babblesoft, on 11/12/2007, -2/+4nice post about the fears we deal with everyday
- jkarhu24, on 11/13/2007, -0/+2All religious organizations are predicated upon brainwashing and thought control.
- Weddingzilla, on 11/12/2007, -1/+3Well said, Naomi. You voiced what we all feel inside, but are too afraid (fear) to say!
You go girl! - jkarhu24, on 11/13/2007, -0/+2Holy ***** true that. Many businesses never become more than a single person creating a job for themselves. A real entrepreneur grows a business.
- wannabepixie, on 11/13/2007, -1/+3Hi LVDave - Sorry I've destroyed my credibility. I've been a member all my life too - my son just happens to be in the middle of being brainwashed to hate me, and it happens to be coming mostly from his (very small, very hateful) branch.
- jkarhu24, on 11/13/2007, -0/+2What breakthrough and what path is that?
- wannabepixie, on 11/13/2007, -0/+2Vindication is sweet. Sweet, sweet vindication.
- jophillips, on 11/13/2007, -0/+2lol
- mlfoley, on 11/12/2007, -1/+3I needed that too, thank you.
- TransmitThis, on 11/12/2007, -3/+4"I’m afraid people will decide my blogs boring"
- jophillips, on 11/12/2007, -0/+1nope, that's exactly what I meant to say :)
- zspeed78, on 11/13/2007, -2/+3After reading the article and reading stuff it linked to I think most of it is worthless. It has no content other than her talking about herself, and even then it doesnt relate to anything worthwhile. This chick is afraid of everything.. yet I dont know what shes afraid of when it comes to being an entrepreneur or her business.
And on a final note.. being SELF EMPLOYED, or even starting a basic run of the mill cookie cutter business, DOESNT MAKE YOU AN ENTREPRENEUR. - jophillips, on 11/12/2007, -0/+1you're the first one
- DangerCollie, on 11/12/2007, -1/+2I'm launching two new businesses, but without the fear. I've been to this rodeo before. There are certain realities you can expect. You trade working normal business hours for working all the time. You may make a lot of money but you'll also spend a lot of money. The difference won't be much, frequently nothing, sometimes the number will be negative. Good or bad, that's what you get. People who work for you will not care about your business or your customers and they won't notice the fact you go two weeks without getting paid to avoid laying them off. Then they'll ask you to pay for an office party and look put out when you don't...because you can't.
Then there's the satisfaction of knowing that the best way to like the boss is to be the boss. - HenvY, on 11/12/2007, -2/+3Wow, almost everyone who commented before me strikes me as a scientology type.
- boituma, on 11/12/2007, -0/+1I quit an internship after five days once. It was with a Fortune 500 company. Everyone thought I was crazy, but all my instincts told me it was a bad place to be and I would just be wasting my time and lowering my expectations by sticking around. I couldn't get another internship for the summer, so I just showed up to the lab and did unpaid research. I had to start hustling after little web and IT projects just to pay the bills. Then I made a BREAKTHROUGH and that set me on a path I could never have anticipated.
If you don't face your fears, life's opportunities will pass you by. Everyone dies, but not everyone lives! - wannabepixie, on 11/12/2007, -0/+1Awesome, awesome, awesome comment! I'm super-impressed. Good for you!
- jkarhu24, on 11/13/2007, -0/+1Um. Harvard MBA's definitely have their place... it's running all of the large and successful companies.
- designisinfo, on 11/12/2007, -1/+2way to identify the elephant in the room Naomi!

- pwallroth, on 11/12/2007, -2/+2This just reinforces the importance of the film 3 Ninjas when they say "We should run, we should hide, we should kick their buts!"
- zspeed78, on 11/12/2007, -1/+1I feel like this comment board is filled with zombies from this womans site. what the hell is going on.

- zspeed78, on 11/12/2007, -2/+1mission accomplished
- firefox3000, on 11/12/2007, -2/+1what your meant to say is "The absence of fear is not courage, Facing your fear is courage. And mental illness is just an illusion of the mind, it doesn't exist.
- eexlebots, on 11/12/2007, -3/+1How many sockpuppet accounts posted above me?
- toetagger, on 11/12/2007, -6/+2Smoke a bong. Eva ding will be alright.
- LVDave, on 11/12/2007, -7/+1She had me thinking "What a GREAT article!" .. right up to the end where she says "I’m afraid my oldest son will stay a Mormon, serve a mission, and be brainwashed to hate me."... That destroyed ANY credibility she had.. Mormons DO NOT brainwash people to hate.. Having been a member of the Church all my life, I can say that with absolute certainty...
