- Gryfft, on 10/12/2007, -1/+124No, his grammar are British. In America we say "Gamestop is so cool" when we talk about a company, or "Apple sucks." Or "Microsoft blows." Over there they consider company names collective nouns, since, although it's one entity, it's a bunch of people. It's not gramatically incorrect, it's just the British way. So they say "Gamestop are retarded!" or "Apple are the greatest" or "Microsoft blow." Or... something, anyway. Or "Nintendo are so bloody cool."
- k00pad3tr00pa, on 10/12/2007, -4/+91Awesome. Here's another reason why Nintendo isn't out of the game yet.
- henryc, on 10/12/2007, -8/+83Nintendo are so damn cool.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+60ah my bad then
you learn something everyday - JOJOFACE, on 10/12/2007, -1/+54Isn't out of the game? I don't think there has ever been a point in time where it looked like Nintendo might even possibly maybe have the chance of looking like it was out of the game... Some consider the Gamecube a failure, but at the same time there was the very successful GBA backing it up.
Oh, and my favorite thing about Nintendo's customer service is that you always have a system with you. When I got my DS Lite with a dead pixel, they sent me a new DS Lite and I shipped the "broken" one, and when it was fixed, they sent my fixed DS Lite back to me and I sent them back the one they lent me. Love. - tizz66, on 10/12/2007, -1/+51Gryfft, I'm impressed. Thanks for having an open mind and general knowledge. If you could just pass it on to some other people around you, that'd be great! :D
- Cymrubeats, on 10/12/2007, -5/+49Nintendogs.
- Gryfft, on 10/12/2007, -0/+42The guys at the Gamestop I hang out at agree with you 100 percent.. it's funny how they're careful with all hardware except Nintendo stuff. Every time a DS or other Gameboy type thing gets traded in, they just about play catch with it... Nintendo products commonly fly across the store, no harm done. Say absolutely whatever you want about Nintendo: They build some SOLID stuff.
- aximbigfan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+36my ds is one solid device. it has been dropped countless times and is still in perfect condition...
- PuyoDead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+32I once dropped my SNES down a full flight of steps at a friend's house. Solid oak steps, at that. Every corner ended up chipped (where the two halves of plastic meet), yet it still works perfect to this day.
- nmap, on 10/12/2007, -1/+30great post gryyft, I'm in the UK and you're spot on.
:D - AngryBacon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+28When my GC broke, I think the disc drive stopped spinning, I just took it up to NOA, I live near Redmond, and they exchanged it for a previously broken one for free.
- DrMatt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27I've had BEYOND EXCELLENT service from Nintendo US. This article is yet another example...
- isemism, on 10/12/2007, -0/+25Get a paper route then
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+27"another one being too close to a window when it rained"
thats your fault isn't it? - Tricky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23Pretty dumb post.
- tizz66, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19Maybe his DS was in sleep mode, and it Woofed. The puppy thought the DS was a rather odd looking dog, but he wasn't about to judge it - after all, he was only a puppy himself - and so starting playing with it.
It's obvious. - tizz66, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20Do you think this is eBay or something?????!!!!++++++++++++AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
- freonchill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19dog eats nintendo DS lite
ds lite still working
hardcore! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18This guy is still paying for the repair, just not an outrageous price!
- Arramol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18When the GBA first came out, EGM decided to test its reliability, and put it through all kinds of crap...spilling beer on it, flushing it down the toilet...nothing they did to it would destroy the thing.
For myself, I've had my Gamecube yanked off of a TV that was sitting on top of a chest of drawers, and continued working perfectly. I don't think it even froze the game I was playing at the time. - BillDoE, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Nintendo has always had exceptional service. I had a 2 year old N64 controller that was worn out. The analog stick was floppy. After one phone call, Nintendo overnighted a new controller via US mail. On the other side of the fence was Microsoft. My Xbox controller did the same thing after 91 days. A call to MS got a reply of "You have a 90 warranty sir. Sorry there is nothing I can do for you."
- evolseven, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14I owned an SNES that had a run in with a persons head.. the case on it actually shattered and broke and had a huge gaping hole in it, although that game system kept on going for another 3 or 4 years until it finally died, and yes i do have retarded friends..
- TiMMY8765, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14I accidentally ran my gba through the washer and dryer, and it still works.
- AltruiSisu, on 01/13/2009, -0/+13dugg for great (nowadays unexpected) service from a large company... ...and not taking shortcuts to make sure the customer is well taken care of.
everyone always hears about negative service and support. its good to see and hear there are still some companies out there with decent human beings behind their name, rather than stuck-up schmucks who only obey the mighty buck.
kudos nintendo! - lcohiomatty86, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8when a company does somethin amazingly nice and out of the ordinary like this, they are hoping for word of mouth to encourage other people to purchase their units. heck, for all the amazing advertising nintendo is getting from this digg post right here, it is well worth any loses they incured in their fixing this guys problem.
but still.. its amazing that companies are willing to do this sometimes.. - motang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Yes they are, that makes people appreciate the company more, and are willing to buy future products.
- Vector713, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I've always had good experience with nintendo's customer support. I've honestly never dealt with anyone more helpful or friendly than nintendo of america :D
- hrdcregmer808, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Nintendo is a great company and they just make everyone happy!!!!
- drgruney, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9@gryfft... thanks for the new knowledge. I always assumed it was a Japanese digger... (I use sterotypes sorry). It'll still make me feel like snapping when seeing it though. Change is hard, and I'm anal.
- duke, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12Diggs to Nintendo!!!!!!!! +++++++ You rock!
I just bought a DS lite - p2btech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6When I first read the title and description I thought you were being sarcastic.
- Zero82z, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I've whipped(HARD) my Gamecube controller at the floor countless times, and aside from some paint scratches, it's as good as new. Had I done that to a Playstation controller, it probably would have broken right open.
- SillyRabbit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I had a Gamecube controller with a bit of a slow C-stick after about a year of use. One phone call and they overnighted a brand new silver one, along with a coupon and a letter of apology for the inconvenience. FANTASTIC support.
- cgruber, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5What if Nintendodogs was in the DS when they ate it? Does that make them cannibals?
- tbyler, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Along with that, it had the GBA behind it, then the DS, even though it came after the GC, it still majorly helped, then there was the Lite (YAY! :P).
- ciano, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5My original DS got hit with a dodgeball (Guess what I was playing?). I shipped it to NOA and they gave it a brand new screen for $50.00. I got it back in a week.
- DoodlesMcPooh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4If this is true then maybe it is time for me to update my Nintendo Game and Watch (Zelda version) to a nice shiny DS. Will have to hack that dragon with the tomahawk a bit more first though!
- fredkreuger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4badminton?
- darkvam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I heard Nintendo gave a GI and members of his group some ds's or gba's, I'm not sure which, after his handheld was a victim to an explosion.
- theinfamousj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Your comment made me giggle.
- wulfflower, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Nintendo, we love you.
The DS doesn't really feel that flimsy so I wonder how strong that pups jaws are.
Its great that they've always had such sturdy products. I didn't know that their customer service was great too. - Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Bad dog! No treat for you.
- ChileanGoD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3What kind of "puppy" can do such a dammage? A bulldog puppy?
- sephiroth965, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@TiMMY8765
You're not alone there. I know several people, including myself, who have accidentally put their gameboy colors, gameboy advances, or the games through the washer/dryer and they work fine afterward. - tombomb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Hats off to nintendo not only for making products that last and can take abuse. I remember when I was twelve and I dropped my Game boy pocket onto concrete. I thought the thing was dead and i tried to turn it on. I tried changing the batteries and the system worked! Nintendo is the epitone of customer service and I think companies can take a lesson from nintendo.
They deserve a cookie :) - bethanyb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Last year a point on the touch screen on my DS stopped responding. Not only did they replace the part that was creating the problem, they replaced both my screens and the lens. Their customer service fricken' rocks.
- hansdg1, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6You said it tricky
- Tricky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is completely better than Blizzard's service. When someone stole my serial for StarCraft, I visited Blizzard's website and found out they want ten dollars and a CD case exchange for a new serial. Sucks, especially when you bought a legal copy.
- cduquette, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Awesome! Very cool to hear about decent customer service. By the way Nintendo products are built to be nearly bulletproof. Back in the N64 days I accidentally left a game outside in the snow. It snowed that night and sleeted, and I woke up in the morning to see my copy of Glover under a centimeter of ice. I chipped the ice away, let the game dry for a day and popped it in my N64. It still played.... talk about durable!
