- Alfdog, on 10/12/2007, -17/+475stupid rednecks trying to grow more dogs
- shadus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+207You know, the thing that really bothers me about it is... if you don't want your dog, go tie it to the door of the humane society if you can't afford to go in and pay the very small fee they charge to take an animal. If you don't want it... put it in the paper, usually someone will take it. Why get an animal if you don't want to take care of it? That's wrong on so many levels.
- unicornhunter, on 10/12/2007, -4/+77now you're messin with my feelins
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+63I absolutely HATE stories like this one. I just can't understand how a person can treat an animal like this. There are so many other options if you don't want a pet anymore. The person who did this must be completely ***** in the head. I hope they are punished.
- LiquidPenguin, on 10/12/2007, -4/+66There are similar cases all across the U.S.
One involved a trampoline in a guys yard. The owner dug a pit for the trampoline and the dog fell in, unable to climb out. For several days the dog drank rain water until someone heard the dog whimpering and came to her rescue. The dogs blood was so dehydrated that her blood was described as something akin to syrup and inserting an I.V. was very difficult. Once saline was pumped in, the blood soaked it up like a sponge. The dog survived and the owner charged with animal cruelty. The dog found a new home.
Another involved a dog who gave birth to a liter. The owner decided he didn't want the puppies, so he went out in the backyard and buried them... alive. Frantic, the dog dug up the puppies and tried to pull stash them in the crawl space under the house. Hearing the crying and whimpering of the dog, a passerby looked over the fence only to see the dog digging up another puppy. He called animal control, entered the property (no fence), and both he and animal control proceeded to dig out the puppies that were buried in a potato(?) sack. When animal control and police questioned the owner, he stated that, "I grew up on a farm and we did this all the time to unwanted animals. What's the problem with that?" He was arrested on the spot and taken into custody. For the record, real farmers and ranchers do _not_ bury animals alive.
A planned senior citizens complex harbored a fleet (or whatever they're called) of cats. Roughly 30 or so cats. These cats were all taken care of by the residents in the complex, vet and food paid for out of a pooled fund. Someone started killing the cats with antifreeze. After four months of investigation and twelve dead cats, it was discovered it was the complex manager (the only person under 40 at the complex) who was killing the cats. Why? Because he was tired of a particular cat ***** in his rose bushes. He was fired, and arrested that same day.
These stories repeat over and over in every single city. Underfed, under-cared, and abused animals exist everywhere on this planet. It's a sad truth. - polymorphist, on 10/12/2007, -6/+56"Video or it didn't happen"
Your mom and dad didn't video tape the moment your conceived, so I guess you "didn't happen". - johanm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+50Swear to god. I could kill people like that with my bare hands
- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -3/+51Ok, I am definitely filled with rage and ready to form a lynch mob when they find the person who did this.
Still, I can't help laughing at Alfdog. How can I reconcile rolling with laughter and livid with rage? - bobothn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+37one of our dogs we have we got because its ***** owners couldn't spend the time to find it a home and just slowed down on a busy street and threw the dog out with a note in its coller. almost got hit crossing the road but the people just speed off. the sad part is the dog was struggling to stay in the car and chased after it as long as he could. on a happy not we have had him for 6 months now and he is a very nice dog.
People that act like that make me glad we have animal abuse laws. - BeefBaron, on 10/12/2007, -3/+33This just makes me hate my species.
- primehifi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+26I wish I could bury this because it is 'sad'.
- TheElectricMonk, on 10/12/2007, -5/+26yeah, this being the second depressing post to make the front page this fast probably means today will end up being one depressing ass day on digg
- Lokix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20I hope they find whoever did it and punish him to the fullest extent allowed by law.
- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18Joking or not, I have blocked you. I never need to hear another word from you.
- handler, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18People like that make me sick.
- Absinthminded64, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16It's not hard to find people who shame the human race. For everyone who needs a smile now have a look at my doggie! No ads or anything. Just my dog. The picture is kind of big though.
http://66.36.230.17/peanut.jpg - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14we had a dog that was poisoned a few years back. they cooked a roast... soaked it in anti-freeze and left it in our yard at night. one of our dogs ate a large portion of it. somehow he managed to live through it, but he was really never the same. always sickly looking, and looked basically like skin and bones.
- Daiken, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15I dunno if I could kill someone, but I could easily beat em to a pulp for something like that.
- The_Decryptor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11We found a German Shepard puppy who had been wandering the streets for quite a while, not a runt or anything, pure bred. No idea who owned her (nothing about a missing dog in any papers or anything), and whoever owned her used to hit her (you pick up anything and she would run and hide).
We just can't understand it, she's a great dog, i just don't see how the old owner didn't want her, but she's found a home with us now (had her a couple of years), and she's gotten over the fear of being hit. - drjson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Hello and welcome to Digg. There are a couple buttons that may interest you, one called "Digg" and one called "Bury". How you feel about a story can be expressed through just those two buttons.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Oh FFS, It's my Birthday today, and now this article has made me feel like *****!
I have a dog, and I don't see how *anyone* could do this to another being.
'Respect for the human race' -1 - MyDocuments, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10it was pretty sad to see the article title on the front page and then webtickle's user icon below it :(
- jsg7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I hope they find who did it and bury them alive just like they did to the dog...
- diggduggjoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Well, I have different views when it comes to food. We need to eat and vegan is not normal. Possible, but not normal.
I do buy organic as much as I can. I even buy buffalo from where I have actually toured the ranch. They kill them quickly one at a time, so not to have the others see it. The owner takes care and practically knows each animal by name or at least by its mother's name. Using animals as food is not wrong. We waste very little of the animals.
I do have problems with factory farming. That needs to go. I do believe that we can treat them nice and still eat them.
I would not disagree that our diet should contain less meat, but we do need some to be healthy.
Killing an animal just for the sake of killing it is wrong, but that is not the same as agriculture. - Genthree, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Happy Birthday
- blasphemer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9@bobothn
It kills me that people can treat a defenseless animal like that... If someone can't feel any empathy towards an animal and throw them out a car window, well there is something seriously wrong with them. In the long run alteast the dog ended up with you and is in a caring home now and not with the ***** who through him out of the car. - rnelsonee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I could dig a nice big hole in the ground for 'em...
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7It is said that children and young adults who torture or otherwise maim animals have serious psychological deficiencies. Not surprising, considering one needs harbor no compassion for any other living being but themselves in order to perform such heinous acts.
- kz26, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I think we should bury the twisted person who did this. And this time no one's going to dig him back up.
- monergism, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Careful. Your ignorance is showing.
- dmonkey1001, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I hope they take the guy that did this and bury him alive leaving only a very small hole for him to poke his nose through. Maybe its just me, but I find this sort of thing just as disgusting as if it had been done to a human being.
- spinemangler, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I say punish him to an extent not allowed by law. That would be much more satisfying. Looks like an awesome dog too. Makes me mad to know people like this exist at all.
- pkulak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5We would all take comfort in seeing this ***** strung up by his nuts, but gladly we live in a society that will punish him humanly. I think this shows that this person cannot be a valid member of society. Life in prison sounds good and humane to me. We can let out a pothead to make room.
- Piglith, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Sorry that was ment as digg up... Clicked the wrong button. Digg needs to space them a little further apart.
- 13thfloor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5What about beating them half to death? Twice.
- Dalrek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Am I the only one who read the story title and then immediately saw webtickle's happy-face avatar?
- EmmSee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4How about this: Child abuse, rape, murder, animal cruelty... mandatory LIFE behind bars.
- diggduggjoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Okay, now we have a dog buried alive.
We have had accident photos sent to a grieving family and a review of the doc who butchered up a man's privates on digg today.
I am not sure I wish to be called human on a day like today. Why are so many humans sick in the head? - Lokix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Beleive me guys, I would LOVE to be able to go so far as to even torture and/or execute this son of a bitch, but let's face it, we can't. The best we can hope for is a judge to not only throw the book at him but the whole ***** library.
- Piglith, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5You can. Set the Default page as "Technology"
Please RTFM and don't digg down the article because it isn't technical. - radiofrequency, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3People who are willfully cruel to animals don't deserve to live.
- ZzFDKzZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I hope they catch the people and put them behind bars for many years.
- craigbell82, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I would personally pay money to watch Bob Barker kick the ***** out of this person.
- soulonice, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I am disgusted.
- pathy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Digg's been really depressing today - It's like watching TV news.
- raydar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The dog going to be OK, Uncle Larr?...
The dog's going to be just fine, Little Tommy.
For you old Chicagoans. - 13thfloor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3with a spoon...
- GR3G, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Bury the son-a-bitch that did it to this poor animal!
- TheTruth999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3What stupid people! Who the hell does that!?
- MollyD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I hope they find whoever did that and give him the punishment him deserves!
It makes me sad to think that people are capable of such cruel things, I'm glad to hear he is getting better, I hope he will find a MUCH better family to live with. -
