I'll take a blunt over any vape but the Volcano. Unfortunately its like 500-600 dollars and the only place I've seen it so far is at "The Smoking Shop" in Greenwich Village.
      The "vapor" is dry as hell and can be killer on your throat with any vaporizer though...if you are looking for a healthy high bake some strong brownies...

    ingredients:
    1. light bulb
    2. newspaper bag (no holes)
    3. rubber band (or something like it)
    4. barracuda buddha (others may work)
    5. salt (only if light bulb isn't clear)
    6. lighter (preferably butane, but any work)
    7. funyons (may substitute)

    directions:
    1. cut off bottom part of light bulb, anything kind of sharp and metal will work.
    (if light bulb is clear, skip next step)
    2. put some salt in the bulb, shake it around, all the opaqueness should come off. rinse with water and dry.
    3. grind the bud.
    4. put your junk in that bulb.
    5. rubber band newspaper bag end around end of the light bulb, make sure a good amount of air is in there too.
    6. hold light bulb near the rubber band, begin to heat bulb where the ganj is, holding lighter 2 to 3 inches away from the bulb. some steam should begin to fill up the bulb and the bag within 3 to 4 minutes, do this for about 10 minutes.
    7. remove bag, inhale, repeat steps 3-7
    8. when reasonably ***** up, eat the funyons.

    don't spend 450 bucks on a vaporizer.

I'd rather pay for something with a ceramic element so you aren't inhaling volatile crap coming off the bulb and the hydrocarbon flame. Also, the whole point of a good vaporizer is to precisely control the vaporization temp. All you have with the lightbulb is a ghetto crackpipe..literally.

      Ok, while this method is far from the best way, you are not inhaling volatile crap. Assuming a clean bumb (I'd give it a decent wash even if it started clear), glass won't really react at the temperature of a normal lighter, and the hydrocarbon flame remains OUTSIDE the bulb, and there is nothing volitle about the hydrocarbons either. They burn to form water, and carbon. The carbon will form a soot on the outside of the bulb, and the water will be in vapour form and just float away.
      Further, he did call it "the hobo vaporizer". I'm sure you can make something better with a little time and money. Hell, a bit of ballast, a thermostat and some nichrome wire would be enough to get good temp control, and it wouldn't be much of a hack to get that together.

      Get one wineglass (the thinner the better)
      Hold one end against your chest.
      Hold the open end closed with your palm.
      Heat up the place of the glass where the weed is.
      Once you have sufficient vapor take your hand off and breath in the vapor really really fast.

      (honest to god I saw someone do this once!)

      The point of a vaporizer is to be healthier than a joint. Precise control is unnecessary when not burning it covers a large part of it. You haven't convinced me that the ghetto vaporizer is any worse than a joint, especially in the hands of someone who bakes it right and never lets it burn. What are your sources?

I have a Volcano I bought it used from a friend, most reliable vaporizer out to date, You fill a bag, and its good for 15 minutes. When my friends and I are sitting away from each other we just toss the bag back and fourth like a nerf football. Can't do that with a bong/pipe! The parts are very easy to clean and come apart easily. If your going to get a vaporizer and have plenty of money to throw around (they're expensive!) Don't settle for less and get a Volcano.
    • 3dom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You could try this if you're bored and don't have the bucks for a proper vaporizer - you have to watch you don't use the glazed bulbs though as that ***** will definitely screw with your lungs, I personally think the simplest and ghetto-est method is to use a lighter under tinfoil and inhale with a straw/rolled up tube of paper. However if you can afford it the Volcano vaporizer is far superior and worth every cent, I've owned a few high-end vaporizers in my time and it truly can't be beaten in terms of efficiency and quality of rips. Not to mention it's so much better for you than the other methods.

      RE: as long as the bulb is clear, there is no foreign residue smoked - just pure THC - the glass won't be "smoked"

      RE: the hobo vap is just as clean as a volcano. say you put about half a g in there, the weed will turn a dark brown color after about 4 or 5 hits. this is because the THC is vaporized, while the rest of the herbal remedy remains.

      RE: all vaporizers usually yield about 90-97% of the THC. the hobo vap is lower on the spectrum compared to the $450 volcano, obviously, but vaporizers as a whole are much more efficient for absorbing the full amount of THC out of weed. joints and pipes usually only extract about 25-30% of the THC for example.

      also,
      you can actually use the brown colored weed to smoke, to give a mild high - this is great right before you're about to go to sleep IMO, but I wouldn't recommend smoking this often... just get some more weed man.

  • Marijuana, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5The "Ubie"( http://www.americansmokeless.com/index2.htm ) is a great utility I bought on the net for about 10 dollars, I think even less. I use it often for various things such as vaporising hash (which is better to do than the use of direct flame), vaporizing honey hash oil (butane thc extraction) and last but not least some grinded weed. Also vaporizing your weed is the healthiest way to get high. But once in a while you just gotta hit that bong ;)

      just cook a whole lot of cheap bud in the amount of cooking oil it says to use in the brownies on the box in a pot...wait till the bud turns brownish n the oil a little greenish brown (no overcooking is imperative) and boom...throw that oil in the mix n bake em like normal. healthier, higher. you do it right n it's like half tripping half painkillers...
      too expensive for anything other than a special occasion tho...

There's no smoking indoors due to Toronto's anti smoking laws. It's been there for years and as far as I know it's never been raided though it is actually illegal to smoke pot here.

    You can use the heat shrink tip on your bowl and vaporize. Cheaper than a real vaporizer, works just as well IMO, and it's a soldering iron too. :)

    You buy the glass rods that hippies use for their hair, and then you use a butane torch to heat up the glass a lot. Then you press the glass onto the bud inside the tabacco pipe (cuz bong's are illegal :P ) - which is now hot enough to vaporize it.

    It's not costly, doesn't require a large heat gun, uses a bit of butane but very nice and pleasant taste out of the bud.

When i ordered one of these it developed a small crack in the wood that didn't affect its performance at all but i was still upset so i e-mailed the guy the sold it to me, this guy didn't question me at all but instead he sent me an entire new unit complete with a dc converter and another stem with no additional charge, he just said to give the old one to a friend. So if this comment seems like a plug its because i was sincerely impressed with the way he handled what happened.

    I put together a vaporizer/hookah last year with a couple of jars, a soldering iron, a brass candle holder, and two sports bottle straws.

    I'm thinking maybe a brass trophy? You'd need access to a drill press, though, to get airflow through the bowl to the chamber.

They don't even market it towards the recreational use community. I find it's by far the best, cleanest, and most economical way to get my daily dose of sweet, sweet cannabinoids.

Everyone smokes it here cause everyone grows it; it's cheaper than booze and outstanding with sex. We hold annual festivals, where thousands of people get together in the middle of Vancouver, and smoke the city stupid.

    Anyways, I got a Vapor Daddy (non ceramic with the hose thing) and it kicks ass; next time I'd spend the money on one with a digital temp guage though, cause hot vapor irritates the throat worse than smoke.

      I have had a hobo vaporizer also mine was a light bulb we hollowed out and held over a candle worked just as well but you burn your throat alot more that a $300 vaporizer the temp control was easy.

      We smoked 1 bowl out of the electric vaporizer we were gone but hell we smoked a quarter of dank out of the damn thing the bike ride home was awesome.When i move out next year I'm getting me one of these along with a 3 footer bong.

Just pack small bowls of well ground up bud...... and use any bong, pipe etc. And using a lighter and inhale to pull the flame right over and briefly on the material and it will vaporize. If it starts to burn then too much heat and back off next time. Sure its less precise than using an adjustable heat gun but it really works. After the first hit then stir the material around and vaporize a time or two more. When the material is toasted but not burned then dump it into a stash because you can still use it later for cooking or extraction. The magic of vaporizing is to heat air to ~170 degrees F and then draw thru the the magical trichromes.
