- jjustice, on 04/19/2008, -6/+153Aw, thumbnail gave it away. This is one case where I'd say it's OK not to select the thumbnail. But u may disagree with me.
- wynja, on 04/19/2008, -6/+132I found in my youth that pulling the stickers off and rearranging them worked much better. It's called thinking outside the box.
- DaviDTC, on 04/19/2008, -2/+81This article is beyond lame.
- galeninjapan, on 04/19/2008, -2/+801988 wants their jokes back.
- ghank, on 04/19/2008, -3/+65I think we need a new category under "bury"
-stupid choice on thumbnail ruined story - DeathJux, on 04/19/2008, -2/+35Soooo solved = smashed, nowadays? Man, I've been doing all SORTS of things wrong, then...
- blumer, on 04/19/2008, -2/+33Dude, you must be *really* slow with a hammer.
- TomFrost, on 04/19/2008, -0/+30You can still cheat! Turn one side of the cube 45ยบ so the corners are sticking out. Now press one of the corners up away from the cube as hard as you can. It'll feel like it's breaking, but keep pressing -- it's not. As soon as that corner pops off, the rest of the pieces will loosen up and come apart too. Now you can snap everything back into place, solved!
Note that it IS possible to put the cube back together in an unsolvable position. That's never fun, but can be hilarious when you know someone who can actually solve the things fairly readily.
And as a side note, setting aside an hour or so one night for Google can teach you how to solve them yourself without such methods ;-) It's actually pretty easy when you know how! - worldwideweb, on 04/19/2008, -9/+37http://www.mywii.com.au/VideoDetail.aspx?id=1659

LOL: What won't desperate kids try next - consoneo, on 04/19/2008, -0/+26You comment is probably the best comment I have seen on digg in a long time. You address the problem, "cheat to win with painted cube," with a solution, give a helpful hint, and then tell a way to solve the problem without cheating.
Simplicity always works well :) Bravo! - doctechnical, on 04/19/2008, -4/+25The only thing I can think of that might possibly be less interesting than this submission would be a video of paint drying.
- Shadowdev, on 04/19/2008, -4/+21If only my hammer was 1 second away from my "Solve Rubik Cube" space.. :-(
- Coolone84, on 04/19/2008, -0/+16You obviously missed out on that line of thinking when Iraq was invaded.
- blumer, on 04/19/2008, -1/+17For when gizmodo goes down?
- DeskFlyer, on 04/19/2008, -4/+19Damn things don't have stickers now, they paint the plastic. Sucks because now I can't solve them anymore. :(
- inactive, on 04/19/2008, -0/+13They could've called or something.
- badmephisto, on 04/19/2008, -5/+17This is stupid, he didn't solve it, he smashed it
- Opteron, on 04/19/2008, -0/+9Actually, his comment WAS more interesting than this submission.
- fkr3, on 04/19/2008, -1/+9The link to the image:

The thumbnail really ruins the surprise. - Myztry, on 04/19/2008, -1/+8Really? I thought the Digg number was just how hard someone pressed the button...
- Foliot, on 04/19/2008, -2/+9This is how I "solved" the problem I had with that ***** at work.
- MutatedNantuko, on 04/19/2008, -2/+9Those links were better than this story.
- brianbb98, on 04/19/2008, -0/+6no, its called thinking outside the cube.
- jwoelmer2, on 04/19/2008, -0/+6it's actually Rubik- he made what's called the Rubik's Cube, not the Rubix Cube
dig me down... - shadeOfGrey, on 04/19/2008, -0/+5It's the Bush strategy for solving it. Let's see the terrorists hide in that cube now.
- rodbotic, on 04/19/2008, -0/+5NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
- chedabob, on 04/19/2008, -0/+5You could just buy the replacement sticker sets.
- mattwalton56, on 04/19/2008, -0/+5You must have a boring life.
- ostracize, on 04/19/2008, -0/+5Sometimes the thumbnail serves as the only mirror
- inactive, on 04/19/2008, -1/+5My rubik is in my desk at work, i tried to solve it on my own, without cheating for years and it just hasn't happened. I feel like an idiot for never finishing it.
- mattwalton56, on 04/19/2008, -1/+5...so you could solve a rubiks cube in 6 seconds....in two seconds?
- Hatethedrake, on 04/19/2008, -1/+5Would you give me kiss if I was on rubix team?
- BKred, on 04/19/2008, -1/+5Honestly, if you get that frustrated with a Rubik's Cube that quickly, you might want to see a counselor or something about anger management issues...
- techresearcher, on 04/19/2008, -2/+6You're not the only one.
- zanderw00t, on 04/19/2008, -0/+3http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1VEY7ndKCs
The joys of the internet.
No rickroll. - Whaines, on 04/19/2008, -3/+6Could you be any more of an elitist?
- Zihuatanejo, on 04/20/2008, -0/+3im gay
- InitialDMP5, on 04/19/2008, -0/+3wow, I would not have expected a Group X joke from someone on Digg. Especially one from a song that isn't the Mario Twins. You sir are awesome!!! (because it makes me feel awesome)
- cheekdog, on 04/19/2008, -0/+3i used to rearrange the stickers too until i realized that eventually the sticky wears off. then i figured out how to pull it apart with a spoon and snap it all back together. 25 years later i still can't solve the damn thing!
- Pritchard, on 04/19/2008, -0/+2There's nothing special about Rubik's Cubes though. It's just something most people don't know anything about, whose soul purpose is to impress people or give nerds something fun to do. The math behind the cubes can be fun, but to be honest, it's not challenging enough. Memorizing the "algorithms" can take some time, but that's about it.
- ligyron, on 04/19/2008, -1/+3I didn't even need to click the link to get the joke to this one. People, take note
- wulfstein, on 04/19/2008, -2/+4O rly?
- fxu1989, on 04/19/2008, -0/+2Well tell them we're not giving them back >:(
- rodbotic, on 04/19/2008, -0/+2and no stickers left
- decyx, on 04/19/2008, -0/+2I knew something was up when I noticed the hammer.
- 1randomnumber, on 04/19/2008, -0/+2Swapping a cube to make it unsolvable is pure evil. *shakes fist*
Though you can usually figure out one's been switched pretty quickly, as soon as you get to that layer (or whatever other method you're doing) and realize that it can't line up. - fuzzybeard, on 04/19/2008, -0/+2I'll see your 2 seconds & raise you 1 second (the time it takes to punch the FIRE button on an initiator).
- fuzzybeard, on 04/19/2008, -0/+2Buried for using "u" instead of "you".
- inactive, on 04/19/2008, -1/+2i also used this strategy to get my baby to shut the ***** up
- oneoverzero, on 04/19/2008, -0/+1Thats around where I was when I decided that having a life was more important than breaking 30 seconds.
I still don't have a life... -
