- valleyvideo, on 10/11/2007, -5/+355"Who cares if he won WWII?" Most definitely sarcasm. Take a close look at the stickers RE the "SJC" -- I just googled SJC + gay and the protester is supporting the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ruling supporting gay marriage. Great pic because it made me go "what the hell?" and then start researching for answers...
- unibomber999, on 10/11/2007, -5/+300It's obvious sarcasm. She's holding a rainbow flag.
- sxtxixtxcxh, on 10/11/2007, -45/+263she can't be serious.... or... he? can't be serious? what's with the rainbow flag? now i'm just as confused as that guy.. or. girl?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -35/+224Oh that's just wrong.
- valleyvideo, on 10/11/2007, -3/+185Oh, also the rainbow flag is kind of a give-away, kids!
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+177ahhah! so thats how all this gay porno got onto my computer!
- quantumHobbit, on 10/11/2007, -30/+175It just occured to me that most computer users probably don't know who Turing was or that he was gay(and lost his job for being gay), so this woman's sign won't be effective. Well for that reason and the psychotic hate mongering. Mostly the psychotic hate mongering.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -30/+153It looks like a computer was used to create/control the machine that printed that sign.....
- bhattsan, on 10/11/2007, -19/+125The ironic thing is that they have a website that we supposedly have to visit to destroy the computer!
- KiwiHopeful, on 10/11/2007, -3/+102Wow ... irony is clearly wasted on Diggers.
- KeyLimePie, on 10/11/2007, -3/+93I can't believe alot of you didn't spot the sarcasm. It seems blatantly obvious to me.
- theblooms, on 10/11/2007, -10/+94Mikhail Tsvet was also gay. He was the Father of Chromatography, possibly the most important branch of Analytical Chemistry. If anyone else had discovered the things he did, they would have been awarded the Nobel Prize. I am an Analytical Chemist, a subject I absolutely love, specializing in Chromatography. I owe my life's work to that man. His original research is paying for my wife, two kids and mortgage!
I am also a born-again Christian, and as such, I couldn't care less what you do or don't do, or who you do or don't do it with, so long as you don't throw it in my face. I don't want to expose my children to a ***** couple getting it on in a public park, EXACTLY like I don't want to to expose my children to a hetero couple getting it on in a public park.
But what I REALLY don't like is when other people are treated differently because they are different from me for no reason. That is 100% contrary to Jesus' teachings. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. I don't want to be called stupid, ridiculed and discriminated against (HELLO ATHEIST DIGGERS!), and because of that, I won't do that to anyone else.
- ZWarren69, on 10/11/2007, -20/+91This seems like sarcasm, its just surreal. Maybe I'm just not use to that level of stupidity?
- BlackCow, on 10/11/2007, -1/+65You guys do know she was being sarcastic.
- DashingLeech, on 10/11/2007, -7/+63Of course this is sarcasm and it seems lost on most people. (1) The argument itself is waaaaay too rediculous. (2) She (he?) is hold a rainbow flag. (3) The sign has a website address. I mean, come on. It's trying to point out the stupidity of homophobic arguments which often include boycotting the (usually artistic) works of homosexuals.
- HenvY, on 10/11/2007, -4/+53Exactly - I know i'm not the only one here not so dense they didn't spot the irony in two seconds flat. Rainbow flag, 'who cares if he won WWII' and the obvious necessity of the PC and the badge with 'LOVE' on it. Digging down everyone who thinks this was serious, burying the story for the retarded submitter who thinks he understands sarcasm yet missed it in the pic.
- TheAkolyte, on 10/11/2007, -0/+48You people are so stupid. Do you think that RAINBOW flag she's holding is a patriotic symbol for her home country, candy land or something?
- ydt89, on 10/11/2007, -3/+49i think its being sarcastic.....
- Flashman, on 10/11/2007, -2/+42Here's one word: moran
http://z.about.com/d/politicalhumor/1/0/n/U/moran.jpg - agarwaengrc, on 10/11/2007, -1/+41It's impressive how many people don't get the sarcasm... I mean, it's obvious that it's a gay rights protest....
- themuffinman, on 10/11/2007, -1/+38I wish more Christians (or religious people in general) were like you. I know that the majority are, but it's the loud ones we hear.
- Easty, on 10/11/2007, -0/+35What they did to Turing was horrible. He was effectively chemically castrated for being gay and eventually committed suicide.
- TheRemoteViewer, on 10/11/2007, -1/+33No, that was your dad.
- jeffeb3, on 10/11/2007, -1/+31It is sarcasm. more satire actually, see the rainbow flag? That's because she supports gay and lesbian rights.
- sketchthat, on 10/11/2007, -15/+44Computer's are evil and all, but before you destroy yours visit our website!
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+29considering the flag s/he holds, it's sarcastic you flipping idiots.
- b3mus3d, on 10/11/2007, -6/+34I can't believe gays took ALL OF THE COLOURS as their symbol.
I like rainbows but I'm not gay. So now I have to be all like "I like rainbows but I'm not gay, not that there's anything wrong with that of course."
I'm not anti-gay, but this annoys me :P - EmperorDristan, on 10/11/2007, -1/+25Inability to perceive sarcasm + snarky prejudices towards butch women = why the hell do I read Digg again?
I think I'm gonna come up with a way to let an ant farm aggregate news for me instead. - howzitgoin88, on 10/11/2007, -0/+23Well, there you go. I knew who Turing was, didnt know he was gay....
- Jugalator, on 10/11/2007, -1/+23"what's with the rainbow flag?"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainbow_flag
So she's actually supporting gays, and it's probably a joke ;) - escheriv, on 10/11/2007, -1/+22Reading most of these comments makes me weep for humanity.
- Flashman, on 10/11/2007, -0/+20From Reddit's comments:
"There's always a danger in trying to be ironic in politics or submitting that irony without preparatory explanation to Reddit: The woman is actually protesting for gay rights, and probably more specifically for gay marriage.
First, notice that she's holding a rainbow flag. Second, notice the stickers and pins that say "I agree with the SJC", the SJC being the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts which found in favor of gay marriage.
So, the comment about Alan Turing is intended to be ironic in the sense that Turing made enormous contributions to fighting Nazism and by extension computing. Most certainly over the heads of most members of the Religious Wrong and apparently over the heads of some Redditers, too..." - banthis, on 10/11/2007, -3/+20U noticed how shes carrying the gay flag ? wtf..
- Affect, on 10/11/2007, -2/+19Some of you believe it's possible that she actually backs this? Wow.
- sinembarg0, on 10/11/2007, -1/+16That also happens to be the order of the colors in the light spectrum, and thus most rainbows.
- Homunculiheaded, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15Plus the button says "I agree with the SJC" which is the Supreme Judicial Court (of Massachusetts),l it refers to the decision to allow gay marriage.
- Mearn, on 10/11/2007, -3/+18You're also not Demetri Martin
- uberdruck, on 10/11/2007, -11/+25Don't forget the fact that it also has a web address printed onto it. Pretty hard to have a website without computers...
- JCSaint, on 10/11/2007, -2/+16Maybe you should read the comments above before you post your own.
- male73, on 10/11/2007, -2/+15I agree themuffinman, what the world needs is more of theblooms out there. May your tribe increase man!!!!! Thanks for the insight re Chromatography and Mr. Tsvet.
- lastobelus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12you might want to stop by your local clue store on the way home from work on monday.
(I'm assuming They actually allow you to work) - sethisastud, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13Are you retarded? She's a gay supporter...if you notice the sticker she agrees with the SJC. You make me embarrassed to be a Bostonian. But she's a Boston lesbian, so she's probably mean.
- Cymrubeats, on 10/11/2007, -6/+17Rainbow flag + (seemingly) anti gay slogan...Nice, they had me WTF'ing too.
- Drtyrock, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11"what the world needs now, is love, sweet love...."
- Nudar, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11Are you really that retarded? She (obviously a lesbian as even you had trouble telling the gender) was using SARCASM!
- Prathik89, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11sarcasm at its best :)
- boxcuttastyle, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12Haha, /agree with KiwiHopeful. Dumbasses. It's obviously sarcasm. The sign is saying don't overlook the fact that gays do wicked rad things. Plus the rainbow flags give it away, because no straight, god-fearing, homophobe would dare hold a Rainbow flag, or a pink triangle. Pink triangle you may ask? I'm not gay.. I listen to Weezer...
Also, it's the same with the black argument. Modern traffic lights came out of Detroit, and G.W. Carver invented Peanut Butter! (Although not really, but it's all good, we give him props.)
Point being-- Minorities do wicked rad things. Like the nice lesbian in the pic says.
And it's definitely not photoshopped, unless, was that sarcasm?! - TheAkolyte, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12*smacks forehead* She's a dumbass? You know what. Nevermind.
- nexarius, on 10/11/2007, -3/+14That's fantastic :-D (it's clearly sarcasm!)
There's a statue of Turing in Manchester near the gay village, actually. - saralk, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9"His original research is paying for my wife"
