- Lixie, on 10/11/2007, -0/+87Bail Bond companies should advertise on the police cars. You gotta hit your target demography.
- jmonty1000, on 10/11/2007, -3/+78This is a bad precedent. What happens should a cop need to arrest or give a ticket to the owner of the Bambino's Pizza that is advertized on his vehicle? The potential for conflict of interest is not worth it.
- Digitalfilm43, on 10/11/2007, -1/+59This cruiser sponsored by:
Visine...
Gets the red out. - jmpeagle, on 10/11/2007, -10/+67that's a better way to get funding than meeting some quote for speeding tickets
- AugustZephyr, on 10/11/2007, -1/+48What would they say if Dunkin Donuts tried to advertise on the side of a cruiser?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -17/+63Or maybe we could stop spending $1B per day in Iraq? Just a thought.
- eousphoros, on 10/11/2007, -10/+47This is way to far, at least we have the illusion that our government isn't owned by corporations. The ads on the side of these cop cars totally destroys that illusion and tells us what our country really is. It's there to serve the interests of the corporation and not that of the individual.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+28Advertisements on government owned vehicles? So we pay for the ride, yet we get none of the profit?
And this sounds like another merger of corporate/state, which always ends messy. - spudnic, on 10/11/2007, -0/+25Wow. Just wow.
This is like something from some depressingly dystopian sci-fi film.
Does no one else have a major problem with this? - Battleloser, on 10/11/2007, -2/+24Brought to you by Carls Jr.
- shadows88, on 10/11/2007, -1/+23Corporate sponsored law enforcement... oh joy
- Wanteddoa, on 10/11/2007, -0/+18Soon they will start advertising on ambulances. And planes. And in video games. Wait...
- joshmcconaha, on 10/11/2007, -0/+18The Reno Sheriff's department already tried it with Hotty's Restaurants...

- obiethedog, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17demographic....
- obiethedog, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15I met a quote once...somewhere on a piece of paper.
- ajchavar, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15i thought it was the show and not the movie?
- jmpeagle, on 10/11/2007, -7/+22federal taxes and state and local taxes are completely different.
- Maltby, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14Matthew Good said it first...."one day you'll wake up and there'll be advertising on police cars"
wicked song - williamdyer, on 10/11/2007, -3/+17I'll believe they are "desperate" when all fine revenue is rebated to taxpayers.
- KILLSTRUCTO, on 10/11/2007, -5/+18This happened in reno 911: The movie.
- johndi, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14I wonder if there will be truth in advertising? This car sponsored by the War on Drugs.
- keyboardduder, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12THIS ARREST HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO YOU BY COCA COLA!
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9yeah, about five comments up.
- kablammo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9There's an awesome song by Matthew Good Band called "Advertising On Police Cars" that was released about five years ago.
- unleashedlive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9You are correct.
- logic, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8I'd rather see NORML get an ad. I'd chip in to see a fleet of cruisers with Legalize It on the door.
- Maarek, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8and exactly who do you think will be paying for this? You think the companies just magic up the money spent on Advertising? It will be paid for in the bottom line costs of the goods or services the company provides.
I would much rather pay higher taxes than to expose our justice system to any further corportate entaglements. Remember, you get what you pay for. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Traffic lawyers too.
- CerealFan, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7"Here's a quarter for the phone
why don't you call someone and find out
how it is we can all belong
to something that no one
wants any part of
one day you'll wake up and they'll be
advertising on police cars"
(I'm an American MGB fan, apparently that's pretty rare, most are Canadian...) - chipwar, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7I'd rather advertise on criminals.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6"thats how we do it in Reno!"
Lt. Jim Dangle - Reaperman, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6High times NEEDS to dig deep and sponsor one!
- mulling, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Amazing. I thought Idiocracy was just a movie!
- JamesWilson, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6conflict of interest?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -5/+11School buses should do the same.
- eatsushi, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6that would end all stereotypes about cops and their relation to donuts. hopefully this doesn't happen b/c this is all i have to make fun of cops.

- Maarek, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7Why do you keep saying that?
- statikuz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Yep they have 'em in my city they look pretty sharp.
- turpenine, on 10/11/2007, -4/+8most federal taxes are just given back to local and state governments, it is called intergovernmental spending. thanks for paying attention in government class.
- FTLJohnson, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Clarence:

- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Forget the HD-DVD and Blu-Ray war...from now it's all about Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts!
- cheesycow5, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4What are you talking about?
"I paid for your car..I am above the law." - bysin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Its from the movie Idiocracy, go rent it.
- Battleloser, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6Firefighting is not policing.
Say this really catches on, and for one lucky company advertising on police cars ends up working really well, so they buy more and more ads. They then become a serious source of income for the police department. Are those cops still going to police said business the same as everyone else? - jake8689, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4isn't this from a Reno 911 episode
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Just in, "Getting your ass kicked brought to you by Snorg Tees 'New ass kicking every week'".
