- GMH24, on 07/11/2009, -1/+28I don't understand what all this robot facial expression hubub is about. Seems to me like they're skipping an important step, like, say, a robot that can actually do something practical.
- bigbadgoat, on 07/11/2009, -0/+21I guess you never saw one of the deleted scenes in T-2?

- socivitus, on 07/10/2009, -2/+21He looks familiar...
- Toshibi, on 07/11/2009, -1/+19I would blah blah blah the hell out of Summer Glau.
- 3rdDay, on 07/10/2009, -0/+18I love modern technology like this. It's like living in the first chapter of a sci fi novel.
- socivitus, on 07/10/2009, -3/+19I see what you did there >_>
- bar10dr, on 07/11/2009, -0/+16I can't wait for them to replace my bank's employees with machines so I can get a realistic smile when I ask for a loan.
- lex0nyc, on 07/11/2009, -2/+17Mmmm... Summer Glau.
*eyes glaze over* - PointGiven, on 07/11/2009, -3/+16I would like to blah Summer Glau.
Wait....what? - LuckyASN, on 07/11/2009, -0/+13Until it discovered it had been rickrolled and vowed to destroy humanity.
- benroy, on 07/10/2009, -2/+13The uncanny valley just got a little wider.
- sandersdamnit, on 07/10/2009, -0/+11Already learned how to smile creepily in '95

And then we all went like...
And then I was all like... IDK my BFF Jill? - jackpot51, on 07/11/2009, -0/+10And isn't that close to what learning is? At least learning from your mistakes?
- mablung, on 07/11/2009, -1/+11Dude... not cool. Now there is coffee all over my monitor.
- seanhive, on 07/11/2009, -0/+9We think it's learning how to smile... it's learning how to gain our trust.
- Amadeus2490, on 07/11/2009, -0/+9Reminded me of this scene in Terminator 2:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ANUP5-aW4E - RandomGorilla, on 07/11/2009, -0/+8So, now Skynet will be able to laugh at us as it kills us? Great.
- IsDancing, on 07/11/2009, -0/+8Creepy robot smoke!
Don't breathe this. - pyromaster114, on 07/11/2009, -0/+7Put that technology in the form of an attractive woman, then put it on an android body of an attractive woman. Done.
Seriously, Japan recently made an android with a human-like face. It was pretty damn awesome. Creepy looking, but I think if these people and the people over there combine their efforts, we'll be in the right place, or headed towards there very quickly.
I always support moving towards the creation of artificial life forms, because maybe one day I won't be so damn lonely and bored if my computers can hold a conversation with me. - mreade, on 07/10/2009, -2/+8Isn't that why he went into politics? I'm sure he could learn a lot from those politicians... :P
- kineticarl, on 07/11/2009, -0/+6He will disarm you with his smile-ish expression, and then unleash all matters of practicality on you.
- linagee, on 07/11/2009, -0/+6Grammar can I has.

- TheNyquilKid, on 07/11/2009, -0/+5Pedostein robot's next feat will be learning to say "I have candy."
- TVarmy, on 07/11/2009, -0/+5Play us off, keyboard cat.
- down4twenty, on 07/11/2009, -0/+5Looks like Barbara Bush's evil cyborg twin
- watcht, on 07/11/2009, -1/+6Uncanny Valley.
- kingmustard, on 07/11/2009, -0/+5I didn't realise that was a deleted scene. It's intact on the DVD I have. What else was injected into the DVD version that started out as a deleted scene?
- getlogicated, on 07/11/2009, -0/+5OVERLORD! I bow to you. Enlighten me with your extensive knowledge of facial expressions.
- N01SE, on 07/11/2009, -0/+5essentially, learning comes from data, lots of data. So, most of machine learning is gathering sensory data then cross-referencing data to determine the appropriate action. Once the machine knows what are "acceptable" facial expressions (or configurations) it will not move facial muscles into an incorrect configuration automatically. The amount of programming needed to control each individual muscle is ridiculous, so they let the computer learn how to correctly control it's muscles through machine learning. It derives tons of correct facial configurations automatically with very little programming (that's the beauty of A.I.)
- Khast, on 07/11/2009, -1/+6And you shall name her Six.
- dezweber, on 07/11/2009, -0/+5If only it can learn how to make the "O-Face".
- zephc, on 07/11/2009, -2/+7Thank you, because I haven't had nightmares in a long time
- LarkStew, on 07/11/2009, -1/+5That's any Michael Bay movie isn't it?
- barthrh, on 07/11/2009, -2/+6So a robot makes random expressions and an independent evaluative feedback system sends messages back when it hits a favoured expression. I'm not entirely clear on how this is really "learning". It's a bunch of random expressions that pre-configured software says "good" or "bad" to. No better than a guessing game.
- HappyChillmore, on 07/11/2009, -1/+5Put it on that on Asimo's body, done.
- jmferris, on 07/11/2009, -0/+4It already has more emotional range than me. I'm impressed. I'd do the surprised face, but I haven't learned that one, yet.
- Wolfcaster, on 07/11/2009, -0/+4they did already http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkYQWBXpk_0&fea ...
