- The_Wallbanger, on 02/14/2008, -2/+142That's about as complicated as the government's tax code. Both are great for taking money.
- happytedium, on 02/14/2008, -0/+113Total freedom for only [life savings here]!!
Seriously, Scientology seems like an MMO but where instead of time invested, it's money invested.
"Yeah I'm a Level 70 XenuWarrior with 375 Brainwashing skill". - gldfshnpcklejar, on 02/14/2008, -0/+81Awesome they added 12 new levels. I can't wait to ding OT XV and get to the new higher level content. I wonder how loot will be distributed, I'm all for round robin, but DKP works also.
- Terr01, on 02/14/2008, -0/+75I really do not understand this skill tree. How many experience points do I need?
- Wackoman, on 02/14/2008, -1/+71Its cool because everytime you reach a new level you get to yell DING!!! in church.
- StillConfused, on 02/14/2008, -0/+58So... the ultimate goal is to be a "Flubless Class XII Auditor"? - Sign me up !!!
- Icupnimpn2, on 02/14/2008, -1/+56As I understand it, the higher your number, the higher up you are in Scientology. So, to become the ultimate Scientologist, you start out elated and gleeful, paying thousands of dollars willingly. You develop masochistic tendencies, then sadism kicks in. After that, you start to hallucinate. You start to keep secrets for the organization. You live a double life, that of the public Scientologist and that of the private - hence duality. You become detached from the whole experience. You pray for oblivion. You become catatonic and unresponsive for a while. Suddenly, you are shocked out of the catatonia (probably by an auditor with a taser) into a state of newfound hysteria. They auditors delude you into thinking that you're being helped by them, but "inactuality" your life has become a disaster. You put on an act that you believe that what you're doing is right, but you have to become introverted and keep your true thoughts to yourself. This leads to a state of numbness. The lack of emotion is really a sort of suffering, and you despair the ruining effect that Scientology has had in your life. Driven by your fear of it all worsening, you realize that you need a change. I think the rest speaks for itself.
- Chompy, on 02/14/2008, -0/+53***** I spent all my points in Power Processing, I totally forgot about Freedom Release. How much does it cost to respec?
- sjbdallas, on 02/14/2008, -1/+53I don't understand why elation and glee rank lower than sadism.
- jamauss, on 02/14/2008, -0/+48"Folks, come on now - Scientology is no worse ..."
Just stop yourself right there. It's worse. Sorry. - Locke23, on 02/14/2008, -0/+45It's kinda cool actually, it's like playing a real-life MMORPG.
And they've got a hugeeee monthly fee - down4twenty, on 02/14/2008, -1/+40your house
- themarq, on 02/14/2008, -1/+34The catholic church, while it has its own faults, does not charge people thousands of dollars for its teachings.
If Scientology is going to save the world, why isn't it free? - mark076h, on 02/14/2008, -0/+32wow what a bunch of crap
- Wackoman, on 02/14/2008, -1/+33Except the constant costs involved in reaching each new level. Their policy of disconnecting and fair game might make you change your story. Wake up yourself.
- trebuchet03, on 02/14/2008, -0/+27I like the trademark and reserved logos next to damn near everything.
- arzim, on 02/14/2008, -0/+26“This chart describes the route to human recovery and ultimate expansion of one’s ability and power as a spiritual being. The field of human recovery belongs to Dianetics technology. Scientology philosophy brings and individual to higher states of being and ability. The chart could be conceived as a map of the expansion of life.”
1. I copied this down in Word and it gave me a red squiggly for "Dianetics". Hah! There's one thing that Microsoft does right.
2. The most ridiculous thing about this statement is that it reads like a book of magic or something - "higher states of being" and "expansion of life"? What does that even mean? Can Scientology tell me what, exactly, is a "higher state of being?" Can Tom Cruise fly around or something?
3. "The route to human recovery?" What?!
This is all flowery, fantastical language meant to sound, in some way, "official" and "knowledgeable" but in reality they are the equivalent of the drunken ramblings of a failed make-believe fantasy book. Please. Who takes this seriously?
This doesn't actually say ANYTHING. It's total and complete drivel. - atomicpoet, on 02/14/2008, -0/+24So having to pay more money = better?
- bpwrinn, on 02/14/2008, -0/+22I got my 20-sided dice. Who wants to play?
- SmackMyMac, on 02/14/2008, -8/+29When I first read the title, I thought it said Scientology Curses.
Great! They've teamed up with Voldemort.
The second unfogivable curse: The Cruise-iatus Curse. And yes, It's still torture. - shanemichael, on 02/14/2008, -0/+21Looks like too much work. I will stick with my sanity. Thanks.
- JD52, on 02/14/2008, -0/+20Someone needs to alter this and include the dollar amount associated with each level. That should make everyone see what a ***** organization this is.
- inactive, on 02/14/2008, -0/+20Nerf Auditors!
- triggerfinger, on 02/14/2008, -1/+19Looks like a Pyramid Scheme.
- themonkman, on 02/14/2008, -0/+17It's not a religion. It's a worldwide scam.
- kjizzle, on 02/14/2008, -0/+17This is more complicated than WoW and I can learn abilities with each new level. Can someone please make a MMORPG out of this..
- benjeye, on 02/14/2008, -0/+1723 - Lunatic
- cr125er, on 02/14/2008, -1/+17I think once they hit the top level, they should automatically be demoted back down to -22 because only a ***** hallucinating nut would subscribe to this type of ***** in the ***** 21ST CENTURY
- zephc, on 02/14/2008, -0/+16He's level OT8. I think it means he can fly or bend steel with his bare hands, or something like that.
- LBobRife, on 02/14/2008, -0/+14Seems like it's for people who just can't handle disorder in their life. The next step is always layed out for them (if they get enough money to pay for it) and it is a neverending procession of rungs to climb. Like stated above, kind of like an MMO, but far more damaging.
- Rodalli, on 02/14/2008, -0/+14Wow, talk about your uneducated statements. Prepare to get dugg down, and rightly so.
- jayboogie, on 02/14/2008, -1/+14You don't have to go to Catholic grammar school or Noter Dame to be a Catholic. That is the difference.
- notzak, on 02/14/2008, -0/+13Don't know why it's so appealing. Looks like more of a grindfest than WoW.
- KingMoses, on 02/14/2008, -0/+13I disagree. Scientology works by only letting you in on the really crazy stuff once you're already brainwashed to believe anything they tell you. By getting this stuff out there to people who are not brainwashed, people are able to see it for what it really is. I think that hurts Scientology more than anything else could.
- digichris, on 02/14/2008, -0/+13Flubless = lacking flubber. Just to clear things up.
- XenophobicAlien, on 02/14/2008, -0/+13HE'S IN THE CLOSET!
- Smegzor, on 02/14/2008, -0/+13Woot! I've achieved total flublessness without doing any work or paying anything!
That was easy! :D - jstone, on 02/14/2008, -0/+12Read the abilities you supposedly gain with each 'level'. I can't believe people actually believe that crap.
- Greengoo, on 02/14/2008, -0/+12I always thought the way to flublessness was doing situps every day.
- D3koy, on 02/14/2008, -1/+13Know what else this needs? a price list...
- onlynameicanget, on 02/14/2008, -0/+12I put on my robe and wizard hat.
- glonq, on 02/14/2008, -0/+12I've almost got enough EXP and gold to reach OT III, and I can't wait for that sweet sweet armor class boost. Can finally raid the goblin caves solo!
- GetShorty, on 02/14/2008, -0/+12What level is Tom Cruise?
- Adrian540, on 02/14/2008, -0/+11Where's the price tag along with the levels?
- Terr01, on 02/14/2008, -0/+11I think we're seeing one of the more virulent forms of the same phenomenon which leads to "how to think like a millionaire" courses etc.
I get the impression that there's actually a large industry of self-help/self-improvement/become-happy courses and seminars and whatnot nowadays, most of which are equally vague although less costly or self-important. - kss42, on 02/14/2008, -0/+11Wait a minute. Specialist classes... Leveling up... Quests involving shelling out X dollars to access level Y and reach arbitrary achievement Z...
THIS IS A MUMORPURGER! - macabaret, on 02/14/2008, -1/+12Geez, I almost dugg you down just because it sounds so terrible. But thanks for explaining!
- poopbawls, on 02/14/2008, -0/+11WHERES TOM CRUISE!
- D3koy, on 02/14/2008, -2/+13Super highways are bad? Clearly I have missed something...
- JAG731, on 02/14/2008, -0/+10Wow! Even with a display set to high-res, and from a mile away, one could still read this.
