- JBabin3xB, on 07/13/2009, -3/+315I think the better term is hi-speed camera, Slow-mo insinuates that its a video camera
- TechEvil, on 07/13/2009, -9/+300How do YOU know if this is the coolest slow-mo bubble popping picture that I will ever see?
You don't know me! - gerrylazlo, on 07/13/2009, -1/+171Shh. Don't burst his bubble.
- rgf207, on 07/13/2009, -1/+135This would be sooo much better if it was split into 4 separate pages that required me to click through
- dienaked, on 07/13/2009, -1/+84These are cooler than the same ones that made the front page 12 days ago?
http://digg.com/d1vIEs - borez, on 07/13/2009, -2/+48God dammit Daily mail, I clicked you again.
Go away. - dbz253, on 07/13/2009, -1/+34to any braindead site admins that might be reading this, it is sarcasm. please do not think that people actually enjoy that *****
- Turious, on 07/13/2009, -0/+25It's a popular month in bubble capturing technology.
- j3rm1981, on 07/13/2009, -0/+23Anyone else seen "Time Warp" on Discovery? Amazing set on only bubbles!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eV6Wh-KX3bY - ftc08, on 07/13/2009, -2/+21Needs more GIF
- Greengoo, on 07/13/2009, -0/+15"moving picture" wtf? Are you in the 1920's?
- TechEvil, on 07/13/2009, -8/+20I see what you did there
- squeevey, on 07/13/2009, -0/+12You can find his flickr photos here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/11164709@N06/
and the beginning of the bubble pop is here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/11164709@N06/36897453 ... - m1k3y45, on 07/13/2009, -1/+13http://instantrimshot.com/
- nbcaffeine, on 07/13/2009, -0/+11I can't wait for the talkies to come to my town!
- gospe1337, on 07/13/2009, -1/+11Watch this instead:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRFfJJjLpqw - jimminy, on 07/13/2009, -0/+10There is no video.
- squeevey, on 07/13/2009, -1/+9It's a nikon D90
http://www.flickr.com/photos/11164709@N06/36897453 ... the exif data on his flickr stream seems to say so anyway.
Otherwise, the canon camera that you would be looking for that shoots at 10fps is the Canon 1D mark III. - darkciti2, on 07/13/2009, -0/+7I wonder if pictures like these help in the study of fluid-dynamics. The way the water molecules align into paths after the burst is really interesting.
- paulney, on 07/13/2009, -1/+8That wasn't cool at all.
4.5fps (From a Nikon D90) is hardly comparable to a 10,000fps professional highspeed camera.
For a real look at cool, check this out:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRFfJJjLpqw - dwhs, on 07/13/2009, -0/+6That was cool, but its picture not a video.
- pumpedvideo, on 07/13/2009, -0/+5Thousand of the same bubble bursting picture will flood flickr in the next few weeks
- matude, on 07/13/2009, -1/+6I feel so violated for giving them page and ad loads.
- nmffffd9, on 07/13/2009, -0/+5yes they are!
- tonydapony10, on 07/13/2009, -2/+7agreed
- ferrell, on 07/13/2009, -4/+9EVER?!
- rbarnes, on 07/13/2009, -3/+7STFU
- johnomaz, on 07/13/2009, -2/+6Pretty cool, but then again, who cares. I'd rather see some cherries getting popped.
- Treshnell, on 07/13/2009, -0/+4With CHDK for Canon cameras, you can do some pretty similar stuff. I don't know if it's "as good", but it seems like it could be.
http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Samples:_High-Speed_Shu ... - jcundall, on 07/13/2009, -0/+4The article says "A bubble is actually made up of three layers - one thin layer of water sandwiched between two layers of soap molecules" twice.
- jcundall, on 07/13/2009, -0/+4Its photos I think.
- thelab101, on 07/13/2009, -0/+4Nope, that's just like all the others.
- CaviMike, on 07/13/2009, -4/+8No interesting. At all.
- Chalks777, on 07/13/2009, -0/+4the porno music at 2:40 cracked me up.
edit: 2:54 "He's more than welcome to come inside" *facepalm* - kyuubi90, on 07/13/2009, -0/+3I love it how the article made it as if the photographer went through hell and back for these images.
- Poochyfud, on 07/13/2009, -0/+3Yeah, this is missing the "mo"
- MtheoryX, on 07/14/2009, -1/+4I've heard them horseless carriages are mighty nice. Mighty nice, indeed.
- wjlaw100, on 07/13/2009, -0/+3Came for the Bubbles, Stayed for the Demi-More pictures on the tab..... Then came.... well, nevermind.
- BootedEagle, on 07/14/2009, -0/+3That's what the green thumb is for.
- jserio, on 07/13/2009, -0/+3He failed to mention he had to do this several (dozen?) times. Notice the building int he background changes positions in each shot. It's not the same balloon but rather single shots from several different attempts.
- m4csrgh3yk3v, on 07/14/2009, -0/+3A puzzle:
The bubble is a perfect sphere with every part pulling equally on every other part. Then one side is broken and the break propagates.
That's all well and good, but why does the far side remain perfectly the same shape even though it's lost so much of the other side's pull? It's like it hasn't gotten news the other side is broken.....but then what is doing the pulling??? - proski, on 07/14/2009, -2/+4I think he is blowing things out of proportion
- theragingbull, on 07/14/2009, -0/+2meh
- doodiepants, on 07/14/2009, -0/+2Slowmo bubble popping is so last week. I postedthat on http://doodiepants.com like a year ago.
- jbcomeau, on 07/14/2009, -0/+2Second coolest.
- tastybeard, on 07/13/2009, -0/+2Don't you tell me what is going to be the coolest thing I have ever seen. So far it's scented trash bags.
- favirus, on 07/15/2009, -0/+2if you liked this, you should try the video of Time Warp (Discovery Channel show), it is amazing
- DevilDriver, on 07/13/2009, -0/+2It may not be a "video", but there should still technically be a high-speed sequence. I severely doubt he snapped just those three pictures. So, what I think you meant to say is "Why don't they just post the complete sequence of images as a video?"
- ramiro, on 07/13/2009, -0/+2Reminds me of real estate.
- CJ117, on 07/13/2009, -0/+2This seems like a metaphor for the fragility of the earth.. When humans interfere with nature, the perfect balance is destroyed.
