Should be be titled "How To Spot The Second Biggest Douche In The Universe" - RawShark, on 10/12/2007, -1/+57It's no ASS ORGY
http://www.snopes.com/photos/risque/license.asp - somunny, on 10/12/2007, -1/+44Nothing says "metal" like a Passat.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+43The three things about this picture that removes it's 'metal' status:
1. A Passat
2. In Beverly Hills
3. Metallica - Blisshead, on 10/12/2007, -10/+34Well, he gets a point for .... ingenuity? but he loses for the passat, the color of the passat, and for being an uber-fanboy of the band.
- slapded, on 10/12/2007, -4/+27metallica will sue him
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+25...what the *****?
How is that a pun and why is "fuel" in quotes? - bobpaul, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pun
- hawarkarem, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21no offence to the poster but that sucks. if the car was white then maybe it would work....in the end its just a sticker.
- CraigB12, on 10/12/2007, -5/+24One of the engineers i work with has '50 l337'
- diggmaddy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19Not quite. I once saw a license plate which read "NEEDGAS".
And better part is, it was on a HUMMER. - dpcdomino, on 10/12/2007, -13/+29That guy just gave Lars another "cause"...copy write...blah blah blah....our logo....blah blah blah....millionaire artists need more money...blah blah blah....
- Otto, on 10/12/2007, -5/+21Yep.
If Jesus was around, he'd drive a Passat.
Because Jesus is ***** metal. - Fixxxer, on 10/12/2007, -6/+18Coolest (geek) license plate I've ever seen:
3.14RATE - Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13I'm thinking that Passat is just a teeny bit out of place in Beverly Hills.
- antiduckyfuzz, on 10/12/2007, -9/+17This would be cool if Metallica weren't so lame...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9@broomet: you don't know the history of l337 then.
- 10001110101, on 10/12/2007, -9/+17So, what makes this cool? That the person stuck letters on either end of their license plate? Or that they like "THE BAND THAT KILLED FILE SHARING" so much that they had to get it on their license plate. Cause if it's #2, I ain't buying.
Oh.. ***** Lars, and ***** the RIAA. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9EXcept that that wasn't a vanity plate.
- 0crabby0, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9"Coolest personalized license plate of the day?"
Not if you founded Napster... - metalgod79, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6That would have been cool in like 1988. Yes I still dugg it, retro style
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Drake: Actually they were better when they were yelling and screaming.
Check out Master of Puppets (the song) and you'll see that they *were* very musically talented.
Then they sold out. Then Lars became an ass licker for the RIAA and complained about compressed music being "perfect copies" - WiZZLa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6jsballardx : He's a proctologist. They have a great sense of humor.
Did you read the article? "the tag is a random, regular-issue plate assigned to a Lincoln LS automobile registered to a Miami-based computer company." - drakethegreat, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9All of which plus the fact that its a fricking license plate with a sticker make it one of the most retarded stories ever to reach the front page. Sorry but screaming doesn't compliment the air guitar, singing does.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Metallica hasn't been good since "...And justice" (Or Master of Puppets if you're really a stickler for when they became "Selloutica")
That said... it's a pretty cool idea. - sctechguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Too bad you can't use the right "too".
- schlongmeister, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Metallica has sucked ever since Cliff Burton died.
- robdiggity, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Now this dude drives a Lincoln, which is actually in keeping with his pimp license plate.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Too bad you can't add decimals in a plate.
- bigteebo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I used to have vanity plates that said "D-FENS" since I loved the movie so much.
- Fixxxer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Actually, in NC (where I live), you can use a period/decimal.
Here's the form that you can use to order a custom plate in NC. Straight from the DOT web site.
It states that a period is a character that "counts as 1/2 space."

http://www.ncdot.org/dmv/forms/specializedplates/download/choose8.pdf - Thuktun, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4A better Metallica-themed plate:
FIREBAD - AlphAssassin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3lol, orange county, probably orlando; my hometown :D
- bobpaul, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8@blisshead -- I don't see anything wrong with the passat, but the paint to "extend" the license plate is certainly tacky as all hell...
- ShuttleDisaster, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5I dont understand the description. You say you'd say only in LA, then say it happens everywhere. And then you sound like you think it's weird that it happened in LA.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2another
http://www.joe-ks.com/archives_sep2003/ExCar.jpg - ExSlashdotter, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I see a guy every day with a new Z06 that's got BROKE on the plate.
I've got a 2-seater roadster with NOROOM. Hard to choose between that and NORAIN. - apothekari, on 10/12/2007, -8/+10*****-A!
***** *****' Lars!
I have a concert program from the "Justice" tour and it says in it "We don't mind if people tape our shows or whatever cause it's about the music really."
And then flash forward 10 years and all those who took them at their word are stunned to see Lars Uhl-Dick in front of the republican congress preaching his Napster hate!
***** the ***** *****.
Metallica SUCKS evermore.
Someone should flip that Passat over and burn it's nazi ass. - swankboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2diggmaddy, I prefer this Hummer plate:
http://czabe.com/daily/archives/picoday_hummer.jpg - sctechguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ok, and just how do you get backwards letters on a vanity plate? Sure, it might be different in Europe...but I doubt it.
- futureundead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Saw a license plate in CA the other day: SEXGDSS
Unfortunately, it seemed to be driven by a young woman with an uncanny resemblance to my father in-law. Gives me the heebies just thinking about it. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Along with "lamest blog about a picture" of the day.
Seriously, i think that guy is a writer for the talking bits in Americas Funniest Home Videos - ChrisWickenscom, on 10/12/2007, -8/+9It would probably only be illegal if you're a retarded monkey who cant tell the difference between the car body and the plate.
- sctechguy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3*sigh* If only people would actually read the comments before jumping in with their own.
You were already beat to it by RawShark above, and with a much better link, in that it actually confirms that it's not fake: http://www.snopes.com/photos/risque/license.asp - NikZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1One of my favorite plates is "TI-3VOM" which, in a rearview mirror, reads "MOVE IT".
- jcronkhite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@apothekari:
Metallica was always cool with fans bootlegging their live performances. I've never heard Lars or any other member of Metallica say publicly that they are cool if fans copy studio tracks/albums. I guess you just want free ***** like everyone else so now you hate Lars for helping to take down Napster, the original conduit of music theft.
I know I'll get dugg down for that statement, but come on people, think about it. I'm definitely not for the RIAA lawsuits against little kids and grandmas for stealing music. But there has to be a middle ground. For me personally, iTunes works good enough. I know, the files are DRM'd, but at least I know I'm playing the game legally at this point. - sctechguy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It's hypocritical, because they said it was, 'all about the music'. If that were indeed the case, then they wouldn't have felt the need to become even richer, by claiming that filesharing was stealing money from them, and they wanted that money.
- ShaunTrennery, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is an awesome license plate I took a photo of last year. It will take alot to be beaten.
http://trennery.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!537AE1921FF6514C!638.entry - Thuktun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Because private bootlegs were never shared with friends, so it can't be anything like sharing music files.
- delightfuldemon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Didn't see this one in the comments, probably my favorite.
