Chick Does 21 Different Accents watch!
break.com — This chick does an incredible job of imitating 21 different accents. Does anyone know this chicks name or at least her age?

- epalla, on 03/01/2008, -9/+97that's such a cool talent.
- ItsMyWii, on 03/01/2008, -32/+4I'm not impressed.
- ophello, on 03/02/2008, -0/+2Darth Vader, I thought you died.
- KyleGoetz, on 03/01/2008, -33/+21Not really. I'm Texan, and I can safely say that her Texas accent is absolutely atrocious; it's as believable as when the Monty Python members used to attempt American accents (funny but not accurate). This leads me to believe that the people with the 20 other accents would be able to say the same about her other accents. Additionally, she has the "r"s wrong when she does her French accent. She used a rhotic r, and French people do not use a rhotic r when speaking English unless their English is very good.
I think a great many people can do many, many accents that are passable to non-speakers of that accent. My Irish and RP accents probably sound convincing to Americans, but to Britons I'm sure I just sound like a stupid American.- theodenking, on 03/01/2008, -22/+48I'm British and you sound like a stupid American to me. Even in writing.
- yojiffyskippy, on 03/01/2008, -8/+24I'm an American (US) and I agree.
- masterm1nd, on 03/01/2008, -6/+18Lol, his comment actually had some substance to it, you simply called him stupid. If he's so stupid, what does that make you relative to him?
- Joshuarr, on 03/01/2008, -11/+3Smart. Because he is right.
- masterm1nd, on 03/01/2008, -5/+7Ok, then I bet you'd be able to elaborate and tell us why? And even if he were right, by your logic, that makes him smart? Calling people stupid... dumb.
- DiggMeTo42, on 03/01/2008, -4/+2Theodenking did not directly assert that KyleGoetz is stupid. He merely shared the opinion that KyleGoetz "sound[s] like a stupid American to [him]". Although there is not much evidence to go by, it is not unreasonable to assume that theodenking was suggesting that KyleGoetz is stupid. If this is the case, then he provided zero justification or reason for the suggestion that KyleGoetz is stupid. Theodenking may either have reason for suggesting this or may not have reason. Because of this uncertainty one cannot make any definite assertions about his intelligence. More simply, there isn't sufficient evidence by which to conclude whether theodenking is smart or stupid. It is best that one remains agnostic, in the sense that ignorance is acknowledged, in respect to questions regarding theodenking's intelligence.
- jwanderson, on 03/01/2008, -2/+3Masterful negation of that silly argument DiggMeTo42.
Back to the original topic, I think it's silly to assume that there is a single definitive "Texas" accent. And I think it is reasonable to say that she got relatively close to a passable accent in most of her attempts, and probably nailed a few of them.
Let's say you're from the region that she connects to the given accent, and it doesn't sound like the accent that you were used to growing up. That does not mean that she did not give a correct accent for the region as you are bound to find a decent range of accents even within a particular region, especially one as large as the state of Texas.
- frodo4jctm, on 03/01/2008, -5/+25Actually, being born on the west coast, I'll say that she definitely differentiates between Seattle and LA accents quite well....and don't you know that everyone hates texas?
- therightclique, on 03/01/2008, -7/+2I thought her seattle/LA accents were the worst of the bunch.
- bbardlbradd, on 03/01/2008, -2/+2The LA accent covers only a small portion of people that talk that way here... and usually only the girls that you don't want to talk to talk in that accent... so if she uses her talent for spy wr0k, it's a great way to keep ppl away... that will notice you, anyway.
- mrASSMAN, on 03/01/2008, -0/+6I'm from Seattle and her accent was spot on. Sounded to me like there wasn't any accent at all which means she did it perfectly.
- mancat, on 03/02/2008, -1/+6Yeah it was pretty damn good, but without the appropriate clothing and hairstyle to make herself look like a man-hating Patagonia dyke, it would never fly.
- BlackCow, on 03/02/2008, -0/+2The Seattle accent sounded the most how I speak. I live in the New England area.
- iliketokick, on 03/01/2008, -12/+9She definitely got the Charleston, SC accent wrong. No one talks like that. It's really easy to make up 21 different accents. Making them sound legit is the challenge.
- subgeniusd, on 03/01/2008, -1/+10Well a refined 60 yr old Charleston lady would sound like that. As well as in Savannah. (Posted from Atlanta which is full of migrants from all over the South).
- oneoverzero, on 03/02/2008, -0/+1It's more of a VA accent (live in VA for about a year...)
- LeeSoong, on 03/02/2008, -1/+1Her Texas is wrong too, talk like that in Texas and people will think you're a poser...
Good for theater acting - but would fail on the streets of Texas.
- subgeniusd, on 03/01/2008, -2/+9Texas, being the size of many large nations, is full of accent shades and she sounds like a voice from "King of the Hill". Never heard anyone complain about that show. And yes I've been all over Texas from the Panhandle down to Corpus Christi. And all points between.
"The sun has riz, the sun has set and here I is in Texas yet". - manitoba98xp, on 03/01/2008, -5/+7And I've never met a Canadian that sounds like her "Toronto" one. We don't make "oo" sounds that much. I'm sure most of them aren't very accurate, but they're certainly accurate enough to be indistinguishable to someone who has not been in said areas for any length of time (and as such their primary source for the accent is stereotypes and the media).
- b1gm1ke, on 03/01/2008, -2/+4you obviously haven't been to Cape Breton or Newfoundland
- stevealford, on 03/02/2008, -3/+1When should they change the name to "Oldfoundland?" It's been a few hundred years already...
- manitoba98xp, on 03/02/2008, -2/+2Indeed, but that's a Newfoundland accent, not one typical in Toronto, as she said. My apologies for my last of clarity.
- bigbadgoat, on 03/02/2008, -1/+2Well, being born, raised, and currently living in Newfoundland, I can tell you that I have never once encountered a single Newfoundlander who spoke like that of the thousands I have met.
In fact, people who study dialects some to many communities in Newfoundland to study Irish accents, since the accent of the residents is more reminiscent of a traditional irish accent than most Irish residents.
- b1gm1ke, on 03/01/2008, -2/+4you obviously haven't been to Cape Breton or Newfoundland
- PeppermintPig, on 03/01/2008, -1/+8Agree, her texan and southern accents in general were a bit shoddy and dramatized. Still, points for effort. It was entertaining.
- elsagacious, on 03/01/2008, -2/+5The Brooklyn accent was way off. Especially the way she said "twenty-five" and "sorry." No true Brooklynite would ever be fooled.
- Depthfunction, on 03/01/2008, -3/+4I agree. All of her American accents were awful.
- Eiknujrac, on 03/01/2008, -2/+5Don't know why everybody is digging down the guy at the top.
I was born and raised in Texas, have lived in many different parts, and I can say her Texas accent was atrocious. - S1ngular1ty1, on 03/02/2008, -1/+3I was born and raised in Texas and I can say her portrayal of a Texan accent was pretty off. Besides, not everyone in Texas has an accent. I lived in New York for a while and people always remarked at the fact that I have absolutely no accent even after living in Texas all my life. Even though I do say "yall" every now and then.
- theodenking, on 03/01/2008, -22/+48I'm British and you sound like a stupid American to me. Even in writing.
- badave, on 03/01/2008, -17/+2Nooooo.... I was annoyed at the end of that and I'm sure a lot of people were. She was pretty, but that's about the only thing I liked about the video.
- MCCULLAH, on 03/01/2008, -26/+12its wierd cause usually women arent good at nything
- tyywebb, on 03/01/2008, -2/+25From what I hear on the internet these so called "women" apparently excel at making sandwhiches.
- dunk71, on 03/01/2008, -3/+3And washing dishes too, I'm told.
- therightclique, on 03/01/2008, -1/+2the sandwiches alone are worth the trip.
- iandigg, on 03/01/2008, -2/+0except spelling, of course
- ophello, on 03/02/2008, -1/+2I hope you get mugged tonight. By a woman.
- Solis, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1I hope he beats her senseless.
- tyywebb, on 03/01/2008, -2/+25From what I hear on the internet these so called "women" apparently excel at making sandwhiches.
- fxu1989, on 03/01/2008, -20/+8Will she blend ?
- therightclique, on 03/01/2008, -4/+3come on. that was funny. and now i really want to know.
- WildTang3nt, on 03/01/2008, -5/+21The Canadian accent is WAY off... at least for Toronto. Might have been more accurate for somewhere else in Canada.
- Raian, on 03/01/2008, -1/+3Yes... more like New Brunswick.
- Autofac, on 03/02/2008, -1/+1I was born in NB, grew up and still live in Halifax. My mother is from Cape Breton and I have family in Newfoundland.
I can tell everyone here that I've never heard an accent quite like that down here.
I equate the Toronto one more with the mid-west USA or maybe just west of Ontario.
- Autofac, on 03/02/2008, -1/+1I was born in NB, grew up and still live in Halifax. My mother is from Cape Breton and I have family in Newfoundland.
- badjoke, on 03/01/2008, -4/+2Sounded like Wyoming to me.
- Jrollo, on 03/02/2008, -0/+1It's definitely not a Wyoming accent. We actually fall within the range of the general American dialect, which is pretty much noninflected, at least from an American perspective. Then again, people always like to attribute strange behaviors to our state. . .
- ostracize, on 03/01/2008, -2/+9Newfoundland. The Seattle one was probably closest to Toronto.
- bigbadgoat, on 03/02/2008, -1/+1Nowhere close to Newfoundland
A typical newfoundland accent is far closer to an irish accent than anything else.
We don't do that "oo" thing on out O's at all.
-Newfoundlander living in Newfoundland.
- bigbadgoat, on 03/02/2008, -1/+1Nowhere close to Newfoundland
- Sacrifice, on 03/01/2008, -0/+15She did an amazing job, but the Toronto one is definitely off. She did an eastern coast accent (Newfoundland and New Brunswick), not an Ontario accent.
- diggimator, on 03/01/2008, -0/+11Her "Toronto" accent reminded me of how people in the film Fargo sounded like.
- Autofac, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1That's exactly what I thought.
You can hear the north European/Dutch influence like you would get in Dakota/Minnesota/South Prairies.
- Autofac, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1That's exactly what I thought.
- vagarach, on 03/02/2008, -1/+2The actual torontonian will say Toronto like the first 'o' is either not there or so fast that its barely there.
- Protist, on 03/02/2008, -1/+2The second t is silent too. It just ends up as "Trr-ono".
- awhiteflame, on 03/02/2008, -1/+4Actually...she sounded EXACTLY like my aunt who lives in the heart of Toronto..
And who has only lived in Toronto..
- Raian, on 03/01/2008, -1/+3Yes... more like New Brunswick.
- Emelius, on 03/01/2008, -1/+9Haha I freaked out on her California Accent
That was one good job- superal1394, on 03/02/2008, -0/+1She didn't do upstate new york, subtle accent, people struggle with it if they try and imitate it.
- LeeSoong, on 03/02/2008, -0/+5She is such a cunning linguist.
- Vic333, on 03/01/2008, -2/+3Good enough for Austin Powers ... but. ... come on people!.
- Smills, on 03/02/2008, -0/+2Indeed it is, and the Sydney and New Zealand accents were very good. The 'country' Australian accent was a little bit exaggerated I thought.
- Myztry, on 03/02/2008, -0/+2Certainly much better than every non-native actor who has played an Australians in a movies.
- ItsMyWii, on 03/01/2008, -32/+4I'm not impressed.
- NightcrawlerX, on 03/01/2008, -5/+592Her name is Amy Walker and she's 25 years old. But I'm not sure...
- DesignEx, on 03/01/2008, -59/+223digg me down please.
- DrZocktahedron, on 03/01/2008, -6/+56no no, digg up stupid.
- altinnovation, on 03/01/2008, -2/+86I will digg you up so that you will suffer.
- mateusap, on 03/01/2008, -3/+73feel my raging thumbs
- Davers, on 03/02/2008, -6/+3lol wut? Unless you're using a Wii, you're probably clicking the digg with your index finger.
- myusrnm, on 03/02/2008, -0/+6Davers, when you click the button to "digg up" people what is the picture of?
- Davers, on 03/04/2008, -0/+3*****. [bashes head]
- ElbertF, on 03/01/2008, -1/+58I won't fall for your double reversed psychology!
- LegendRoad, on 03/01/2008, -7/+25Wouldn't that just make it psychology?
- Flame15, on 03/01/2008, -3/+14No, no, there's a difference.
- BrendanSheehan, on 03/01/2008, -2/+21How dare you try to control us, dugg!!
- jetcombo15, on 03/01/2008, -1/+8Done.
- dralezero, on 03/02/2008, -1/+2I'm 26, 27. I mean 25 years old.
- Myztry, on 03/02/2008, -0/+2No girl every overstates her age. Not even the Kiwi ones.
- over900000, on 03/01/2008, -2/+43Anyone care to guess where is girl is actually from?
- staffell, on 03/01/2008, -7/+77She's british, no question.
- Neiby, on 03/01/2008, -32/+13That's my guess, too, but only because her American accents sucked so bad. Except for her Californian accent, which was really good. She probably should have used that accent and said she was from Colorado, though. It's a very neutral accent. Her Texas, New York, and Southern accents all sucked bad.
- dezmo, on 03/01/2008, -3/+27they were actually pretty decent
- theodenking, on 03/01/2008, -2/+4Well her British ones weren't brilliant either. And if she were British I would've expected some Scouser, Geordie, Tyke, not just the standard RP and Londoner that everyone knows.
- Wartz, on 03/01/2008, -2/+5man, that brooklyn/new york accent was horrible.
- badjoke, on 03/01/2008, -1/+1I would say Seattle is just as neutral.
- iandigg, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1she wasn't perfect, but she was certainly very good in general with the exception of a few
- shoutsmurmurs, on 03/01/2008, -3/+11Sure, I can see why you think her American accents sucked. You are judging them relative to your own. But can you do four different British accents well? I think not.
- Neiby, on 03/01/2008, -7/+4No, I'm judging them because I know what people from those areas sound like. If you think her South Carolina, Texas or New York accents were realistic then you simply aren't good at differentiating accents or you don't know what people from those regions actually sound like. She was doing stereotypical accents from those regions, which is enough for people to guess the accent but it certainly doesn't sound realistic.
She gets kudos for being able to do a wide variety of accents, but no one should claim that many of them are realistic. - therightclique, on 03/01/2008, -3/+1actually yes.
- Akaji, on 03/01/2008, -1/+27@Nelby
Her American accents were spot-on with stereotypes (yes, I know, not that many people really have those accents, but they're out there...) other than the Californian accent.- adrianmonk, on 03/01/2008, -6/+9Her Texas accent was pretty bad. A lot of people in Texas have an accent, but it's a sort of a *slight* drawl. Not a super-heavy one like she did.
- DaMacGamer, on 03/01/2008, -2/+2Yep, lived in California all my life. Pretty much everyone (unless they immigrated) sounds like that.
- Neiby, on 03/01/2008, -3/+1Yes, spot on with *stereotypes*. That still doesn't make them realistic. People from those areas don't actually sound like that. That was my point. She's definitely quite skilled, but I was responding to the people who thought that she was doing realistic accents. She is not.
- Boondoggle, on 03/01/2008, -0/+60She is from the united states. Whidbey Island, Near Seattle.
http://blog.seattlepi.nwsource.com/whidbey/archive ...- mrASSMAN, on 03/01/2008, -0/+8Ohh, that's why she did that one so well..
- staffell, on 03/02/2008, -2/+1She's still british, no question. Just because she lives in the US doesn't mean she's from the US.

She also lists a performance at 'South Whidbey High School', which is also in Washington state.

- alg4000, on 03/01/2008, -1/+17Well I'm guessing that from her website www.amywalker.info, that she is 25 since she graduated hs in 2001
- shoutsmurmurs, on 03/01/2008, -3/+10Dig a little deeper, and you see that she's affiliated with Greer Lange Talent Agency, out of Philadelphia. She certainly fooled me (an everyone else) with the British accents.
- burgerpocket, on 03/01/2008, -6/+2i'm gussing from the video, that she is 25 since she repeated it 21 times.

- DesignEx, on 03/01/2008, -59/+223digg me down please.
- MikeEnIke, on 03/01/2008, -9/+224She nails pretty much every accent. It's great that it's not just language based, but she does at least four accents from the US alone.
- Tyrghast, on 03/01/2008, -42/+9And all the US ones are terrible. Not even close to sounding correct.
- whataboutdave, on 03/01/2008, -2/+37I wouldn't say terrible, but they were a bit overdone.
- Joshuarr, on 03/01/2008, -2/+9They kind of had to be, otherwise there wouldn't be enough distinction.
- PeppermintPig, on 03/01/2008, -2/+10But doing them in an obvious and dramatized way isn't entertaining to people who CAN tell the difference. Subtlety is the name of the game with accents and dialect. If she were training to be a spy, I'd have to fail her.
Still, it was entertaining.
- PeppermintPig, on 03/01/2008, -2/+10But doing them in an obvious and dramatized way isn't entertaining to people who CAN tell the difference. Subtlety is the name of the game with accents and dialect. If she were training to be a spy, I'd have to fail her.

- rossmcd, on 03/01/2008, -1/+8The Seattle one sounded pretty right on to me
- subgeniusd, on 03/01/2008, -0/+9They were not terrible, doofus. Every accent supposed to represent an entire region is by definition a stereotype. Michael Stipe was born and raised in north central Georgia and speaks with not even the slightest trace of southern accent while rednecks 20 miles out of Athens GA sound right out of the movie "Deliverance". (Posted from Atlanta).
- whataboutdave, on 03/01/2008, -2/+37I wouldn't say terrible, but they were a bit overdone.
- skyshock1, on 03/01/2008, -7/+30Nah, they're all pretty comical stereotypes, but the at least people from outside those areas don't know any different.

- Monkeywithacold, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1Which is actually part of the point. When I was in drama, we did a small unit on accents...The point is to make the audience aware of where the accent is from. Of course, actors try to be as genuine as possible, which is a great thing...But take norther England for example, you will find a different accent 20 minutes down the road, most of which Americans won't be able to understand at all.

- jnadke, on 03/01/2008, -10/+47The california one was innacurate. Instead of:
"Hello, I'm Amy Walker. I'm 25 and I was born in California"
It should be:
"Like helooo, I'm like Amy Walker. Like I'm 25 and I um like um was born in like um California."- adrianmonk, on 03/01/2008, -2/+10Encino is like so bitchin'
There's like the galleria
And like all these like really great shoe stores- MonkCanatella, on 03/01/2008, -1/+2Valley girl! She's a valley girl!
- Rippleeffect, on 03/01/2008, -3/+2I am ashamed to now realize that I do have a "californian accent" I thought i was "normal" =(
- Neiby, on 03/01/2008, -2/+2Actually, her Californian accent is more accurate for Colorado. We typically have no accent when compared with what you hear on TV, especially news channels.
- fjc8, on 03/01/2008, -0/+3It applies to most of the USA that does not have some other regional accent.
- MonkCanatella, on 03/01/2008, -2/+9Don't forget that she needs to end it in a question mark.
And I um like um was born in like um california? - Emelius, on 03/01/2008, -0/+5The girls who talk like that are 1 in a thousand
- davidlow, on 03/01/2008, -1/+4Actually it's about 1 in 174:
Population of California ~ 38 million
Population of Earth ~ 6.6 billion- CrackHappy, on 03/05/2008, -1/+1Heh - I knew California had one of the world's largest economies, but it had never really occurred to me before that a single US state also had a higher population than a significant chunk of the rest of the countries in the world.
- CrackHappy, on 03/05/2008, -1/+1Heh - I knew California had one of the world's largest economies, but it had never really occurred to me before that a single US state also had a higher population than a significant chunk of the rest of the countries in the world.

- AgentAce, on 03/01/2008, -2/+1People don't speak like that in Charleston, nor do they speak that way in London...
She's probably been watching too much Gone With the Wind and Are You Being Served? - hjdutch, on 03/01/2008, -2/+4the russian one was such complete gay accent - she been watching too many 007 movies
- Pritchard, on 03/02/2008, -1/+2I bet all of the 21 accents got her pregnant. She did them very well. Too well to use contraception.
- transitive, on 03/02/2008, -1/+2the toronto accent was really bad. people from that part of canada don't have an accent nearly that severe. thats way more like a northern canada kind of accent.
- DNABeast, on 03/02/2008, -0/+4As an Australian, the Sydney one's not too bad at all.
- OneLess, on 03/02/2008, -0/+3Where do people think she got the accents _from_? You can't just magically speak in an accent and I doubt she's lived for substantial periods of time in all of those places; she heard them through mass media depictions of those accents. TV, movies, the Internet, etc. Of course accents from those media are going to be stereotypical and inaccurate.
Lighten the hell up, it's an enjoyable video. - praha, on 03/05/2008, -0/+2And by "language-based" ...you mean English?
All 21 impersonations were of English-speaking nations/regions.
Like OneLess said, lighten up - she's talented and you all wish you could pull that off as a cute bar trick.
- Tyrghast, on 03/01/2008, -42/+9And all the US ones are terrible. Not even close to sounding correct.
- mfalk, on 03/01/2008, -101/+263the Canadian one is complete *****, Its a complete sterotype I never in my life heard a fellow Canadian talk like that.
- aussieNickuss, on 03/01/2008, -41/+200I have.
- icoup, on 03/01/2008, -6/+66I think her Toronto accent was much closer to a Maritime/Newfie accent. Seattle was a lot closer to what Toronto should have been.
- dezmo, on 03/01/2008, -2/+16If you go to northern midwest states like Wisconsin, Michigan almost everyone talks like that.
- coollettuce, on 03/01/2008, -3/+5What the ***** are you talking about dezmo? I'm from Michigan and I can guarantee we do not talk like that.
- NOFXY, on 03/01/2008, -0/+9@dezmo, when she first did it my guess was Wisconsin
- jawnboy, on 03/01/2008, -1/+5Nobody in the Maritimes talks like that, our accent is a cross between Maine and some hick / hillbilly accent. Not pretty, but not that.
Dang, answered wrong post, was meant for icoup :( well you get the picture, or not ) - bigbadgoat, on 03/02/2008, -0/+2Christ! Stop saying its like a Newfie accent! You obviously have never been here if you think any of us speak like that.
- cello, on 03/01/2008, -2/+5Yeah, in the boonies maybe.
- jakobmakob, on 03/02/2008, -2/+2aussieNickuss knows his Canadians, since he's from Australia.
- aussieNickuss, on 03/02/2008, -1/+3Well....my dad is Canadian....all his side of the family is Canadian.....and I'm a legal Canadian citizen. I was born in Australia, I live in Australia..... I AM Australian.....but I do know my Canadians.
- Xondar, on 03/02/2008, -0/+1I haven't. It kinda resembles a Canadian accent, but I think she's trying too hard and she uses Bob and Doug MacKenzie as her research material.
- icoup, on 03/01/2008, -6/+66I think her Toronto accent was much closer to a Maritime/Newfie accent. Seattle was a lot closer to what Toronto should have been.
- caponumen, on 03/01/2008, -8/+62Absolutely, you gotta throw in a few drunken slurs before I would buy it, eh.
- jumbalia, on 03/01/2008, -2/+99There are some people in Canada who speak like that, although you would be hard-pressed to find them in the major cities such as Toronto and definitely not on the west coast. East Coast country folk have similar accents and some even more pronounced. I think most of her accents were stereotype accents, seeing as accents can differ greatly even within a single city.
- frontporsche, on 03/01/2008, -0/+9Maybe that's like trying to find a Boston accent in Boston.
- Rain12913, on 03/01/2008, -0/+18Exactly. I'm born and raised in the Boston area and so are my parents, and I'd say that less than 10% of the people around here actually have what most people would identify as a Boston accent. This is true for most accents, they're fading as a result of people constantly moving to new areas and the fact that an increasing majority of the language that we hear in our early years is from television and other non-region-specific media.
- honus, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1The Worcester area really does a bit of a Bahsten thing, if'n as much as they don't just remove the R, but they tack it on other words like Pizzar.
I've heard it in Boston, but it's not as big as its made out to be in the city proper.
- veggiemoore, on 03/01/2008, -1/+6I just moved to New Brunswick from North Carolina, and I never hear that accent. The closest is the accent of the First Nations populations.
- spankr, on 03/01/2008, -2/+3That's complete and utter *****, eh. I'm in Halifax and I have never - ever met someone with her "Canadian" accent.
- Bungloid, on 03/01/2008, -2/+0All of her accents were stereo types. Every one of them. Get over it. You assume all the rest were spot on, eh?
It's a bit intended to wrap up as many recognizable accents as possible and she does a great job. Even with the "Canadian" one.
- Bungloid, on 03/01/2008, -2/+0All of her accents were stereo types. Every one of them. Get over it. You assume all the rest were spot on, eh?
- frontporsche, on 03/01/2008, -0/+9Maybe that's like trying to find a Boston accent in Boston.
- CurtisL, on 03/01/2008, -2/+30I'm sure there are some people that sound like how she portrayed a Canadian in the video, but I'll have to agree with mfalk because I live in Canada and have never heard someone talk like that. If she were impersonating a Newfie or an Inuit, then there would be a big difference between the regular Canadian and them.
- joshuagor44, on 03/01/2008, -1/+3They're not regular Canadians?
- Emnsta, on 03/01/2008, -1/+2Oh snap!
- CurtisL, on 03/01/2008, -1/+2Haha yeah I guess the way I put it, it sounds bad.
- therightclique, on 03/01/2008, -1/+1yeah. it sorta does... what's that word again? oh yeah, prejudice.
- ligyron, on 03/01/2008, -2/+1Naa, that impression was too formal and proper to be a Newfoundlander
- bigbadgoat, on 03/02/2008, -0/+1As much as I hate to say it, you're right.
-Newfoundlander
- bigbadgoat, on 03/02/2008, -0/+1As much as I hate to say it, you're right.
- honus, on 03/01/2008, -2/+1I've heard Canadians really do that sort of thing eh, but it tends to be on the border (specifically north of NY) more than deeper in Canada.
- joshuagor44, on 03/01/2008, -1/+3They're not regular Canadians?
- scallon, on 03/01/2008, -3/+11I don't know some of those guys from Newfoundland have some really strong, and really hilarious, accents. It is not so far fetched.
- Zorkon, on 03/01/2008, -1/+5Newfoundland is far, far away from Toronto, and I think that's the point others have made - you would be very hard pressed to find a native Torontonian with *that* accent. In fact, you'd be hard-pressed to find a native Newfoundlander with *that* accent too. She just gets it plain wrong.
- honus, on 03/01/2008, -0/+5I talked to a Newfoundlander on the phone to activate it (apparently that's where ATT farms their calls), and I coulda swore the lady was from Texas. It had to be one of the strangest accents I've ever heard.
- jjuustin, on 03/02/2008, -0/+3I used to work in that AT&T call centre, every other customer would comment on our accents.
- Zippo, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1Everywhere has their call centres in Newfoundland.
Rogers, Comcast (well, one of Comcast's many call centres), New York Health Dept (Hepatitis A info), etc, etc, etc...
- ligyron, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1I'm disappointed she never did Newfoundland. Then again, if she did it well enough, I probably wouldn't have noticed she was doing an accent
- jjuustin, on 03/02/2008, -0/+1Are you kidding? Whenever I watch the local news Newfie accents stand out like mad. I'm so used to hearing the standard Canadian / American accent on television.
- bigbadgoat, on 03/02/2008, -0/+1Some of us do have really strong accents. But its nowhere close to that.
- Zorkon, on 03/01/2008, -1/+5Newfoundland is far, far away from Toronto, and I think that's the point others have made - you would be very hard pressed to find a native Torontonian with *that* accent. - DavidtheDuke, on 03/01/2008, -10/+4eh?
- MasterPlayer, on 03/01/2008, -2/+46I have lived in Toronto for 18 years, and not once have I heard someone speak like that. Beyond Toronto though, I honestly have no clue.
- eyes14, on 03/01/2008, -0/+12Spoken like a true Torontonian.
- mbrindam, on 03/01/2008, -2/+34Sounded more like a midwest accent to me than Toronto... Wisonsin or that area.
The stereotypical Toronto makes their o's longer and a's ah, a bit, but not at all what she did. Just listen to Bob & Doug for a moment. Or watch any movie on Lifetime.- drewlynde, on 03/01/2008, -2/+3I live in Wisconsin and I'll agree that if you drive up to the northern rural areas you can start to hear that accent. But then aren't you basically in Canada at that point anyway?
- honus, on 03/01/2008, -2/+1Take off eh hoser?
- Monkeywithacold, on 03/01/2008, -0/+6Wiscaaaaanson.
- Ikulus, on 03/01/2008, -5/+13It's not complete *****, there are people in Canada who speak like that.
Out east they have heavy accents too, but they're pretty close to Irish so maybe that's why she didn't do it.
The main Canadian accent though is non-descript...- Zorkon, on 03/01/2008, -1/+6Yes, but it's not a native Torontonian accent as she claims. That's the point. There are people in the US who intersperse y'all amongst their sentences, and have a "twang". But I would never claim that it was the native New York accent I was hearing.
Stop generalizing "Canada". We are just as diverse as you guys to the south. - etruscan, on 03/01/2008, -0/+12I thought her Seattle accent sounded more like Canadian... and I thought her Toronto accent sounded more like Minnesota.
- thebusdriver, on 03/01/2008, -0/+10ya, her seattle accent was much more representative of Canada, it just sounded normal.
- danisth, on 03/02/2008, -0/+1Besides newfoundland the east coast has basically the same accent as the rest of canada, I can say this because i've lived in NB, ON, and MB...
- Zorkon, on 03/01/2008, -1/+6Yes, but it's not a native Torontonian accent as she claims. That's the point. There are people in the US who intersperse y'all amongst their sentences, and have a "twang". But I would never claim that it was the native New York accent I was hearing.
- Axemantitan, on 03/01/2008, -2/+32These guys have Canadian accents:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_S9P1kMNuM- jdmzpf, on 03/01/2008, -16/+2Lol obviously a fake vid, Canada doesn't HAVE an army
- tgc1, on 03/01/2008, -1/+13Please shut the ***** up. Our boys and girls are cleaning up your ***** mess in Afghanistan. You remember Afghanistan right? We really shouldn't even be there.
- jdmzpf, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1lol LOVE Canadians, so predictable and pissy, maybe you shouldn't tortue yourselves by living in such a depressing country
- tgc1, on 03/01/2008, -1/+13Please shut the ***** up. Our boys and girls are cleaning up your ***** mess in Afghanistan. You remember Afghanistan right? We really shouldn't even be there.
- anonydigg, on 03/01/2008, -0/+10Never mind the accent that is the BEST ***** combat video I've ever seen!
- Axemantitan, on 03/01/2008, -0/+3I totally agree. It is by far my favorite. I love the trash-talking Canadian at the end.
- mrASSMAN, on 03/01/2008, -4/+1Pretty sure that was just a practice drill.. they weren't actually fighting anyone.
- Xondar, on 03/02/2008, -0/+4Say what you will about the under-funded Canadian army. It is one of the best trained armies in the world.
- thebusdriver, on 03/01/2008, -1/+2***** eh. Im livin in Edmonton right now and I gotta say that vid made me pretty proud, way to kick some serious ***** ass boys!
- Xondar, on 03/02/2008, -0/+2Yes! That's a Canadian accent!
- jdmzpf, on 03/01/2008, -16/+2Lol obviously a fake vid, Canada doesn't HAVE an army
- engityra, on 03/01/2008, -1/+13That accent was more eastern Canada . . . not so much Toronto . . .
- yohnstoppable, on 03/01/2008, -6/+7She sounded like the douchebags from fargo. God, I hated their accents
"darn tooten!"- adrianmonk, on 03/01/2008, -1/+0Me too. For me, though, it was all part of the total experience of hating basically every aspect of the movie.
- soupnrc, on 03/01/2008, -8/+1Yea, but I have... and I'm not from Canada.
- ...---..., on 03/01/2008, -1/+15Sounds like Wisconsin - or Minnesota
- listrophy, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1More like a Yooper ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yooper_dialect )
- ghgh1313, on 03/02/2008, -0/+1eh, it was a little extreme though...trust me
- dadioflex, on 03/01/2008, -15/+1And Australians haven't heard Aussies talk like that and Russians haven't heard Russians talk like that and Brits haven't heard Brits talk like that. It's because she does a good enough accent to fool someone who knows no better but she doesn't actually come from there. That's the point of an impersonation. If someone impersonates themself it's not that impressive. I actually feel sorry for anyone who thinks that's impressive for an actress. It really isn't. The difference is that most of us in the rest of the world are used to foreign accents and accept them as a matter of course but, apparently, the US is still catching up. Get used to it. You'll all be Muslim by 2050.
- happycat, on 03/01/2008, -4/+0Ya it can't be someone from Toronto because no one form the maritimes has ever moved to there.
- Murdats, on 03/02/2008, -0/+1actually her sydney accent surprised me, she went from speaking in different accents to speaking normally, her greatly exagerated aussie accent though, well that was greatly exagerated.
- drguerra, on 03/01/2008, -0/+11I'm from Montreal, but I live in Toronto, and let me tell you, no one has that accent in Toronto. That's an over exaggerated Maritimer accent. Torontonians do have a distinct accent, but that's certainly not it.
- Bazillions, on 03/01/2008, -2/+16Oh geez, 25 year old Amy Walker has raised the ire of Canadians everywhere.
That takes alot Miss Walker. I hope you're proud of yourself.- shadeOfGrey, on 03/01/2008, -2/+3They will surely respond in force.
- ComstockGordon, on 03/01/2008, -2/+4The Canadian accent sounded more like a Montana accent. Anyone seen Fargo? Also people from Toronto sound more like the California accent - probably because Canadians watch so much American TV and movies.
- quoa, on 03/01/2008, -0/+6I'm from Ottawa, and I was totally thinking the California one was spot on (at least for a lot of girls in this region). Then when I heard the Toronto one, I couldn't believe it - she didn't even say "Tranna". Tsk!
- MrGrover, on 03/02/2008, -0/+1You pretty much have no right to say anything about this if you don't know the difference between Montana and Minnesota.
- dsenman, on 03/01/2008, -0/+12Yeah that accent wasn't Canada. I've lived in Halifax, Toronto and Vancouver - and have never heard anything like that in any city. A newfie accent would be easy to do, but whatever she did still wasn't even close.
- terencec, on 03/01/2008, -0/+20interesting... here in Vancouver everyone talks with a chinese accent
- Yatata, on 03/01/2008, -0/+2hahaha! it's true ;)
- grantk86, on 03/02/2008, -2/+0Haha! You just made my day. That's one thing I don't miss about Hongkouver.
- jwanderson, on 03/01/2008, -1/+2That Canadian accent sounded more like the accents they used in the movie Fargo, although I'm not sure that's what a Fargo accent may sound like.
- masivemunkey, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1Yeah I thought the same thing when I heard it.
- SaxmanTrav, on 03/01/2008, -0/+6Being from the west coast of Canada, the Seatlle accent sounded identical to what I hear every day
- Kanidia, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1I was just about to say that. For some reason, I expected more Canadian ones, but the Seattle one took care of the lower mainland.
- musters, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1To me the Seattle accent sounded more Canadian than the Toronto accent
- donsherio, on 03/01/2008, -0/+4I agree I've never heard that accent in Canada, and I'm from the west (Saskatchewan :P)
- nonokiaboy, on 03/02/2008, -1/+1They have internet in Saskatchewan???
I thought they only had bears.- bigbadgoat, on 03/02/2008, -0/+1They have wheat too.
- nonokiaboy, on 03/02/2008, -1/+1They have internet in Saskatchewan???
- Zuljin, on 03/01/2008, -1/+3Look, there are a small number of Canadians who do sound like that, but that doesn't mean it's really a Canadian accent.
It would be like someone just taking a very specific accent from any random state and labeling it an American accent. - Zippo, on 03/01/2008, -0/+5I've heard a couple Canadians from Barrie, Ontario with a "Canadian" accent, but not nearly as strong as the one in this impression. They did say "eh" a lot, though.
Of course, I'm from Newfoundland... and we have a totally different accent...- bigbadgoat, on 03/02/2008, -0/+1Where in Newfoundland?
I'm from Gander, but I'm currently living in St. John's.- Zippo, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1St. John's here... I have a bit of an accent, but not much. Now my girlfriend and her family from Harbour Main... when they talk to each other, the accent just flows out.
- bigbadgoat, on 03/02/2008, -0/+1Where in Newfoundland?
- LostAngeles, on 03/01/2008, -2/+3No one thinks they have an accent. Therein lies the irony.
- maddskillz, on 03/02/2008, -0/+1Even if you don't think you have an accent, you will recognize if people talk like you. And she definitely didn't sound like someone from Toronto
- Lavarock, on 03/01/2008, -1/+1She may have gotten Toronto wrong but there are Canadians who sound like that, they have a pretty wide range of accents and some Canadians seem not to even realize the extent of it.
- indorock, on 03/02/2008, -1/+2I guess you've never been to Sarnia ON.
Or any small town in Alberta for that matter.- jo44, on 03/02/2008, -0/+0Being from Sarnia, I have to ask, are you high?
No one in Sarnia talks like that. I don't think she was close to *any* Canadian accent, stereotypical or otherwise.
- jo44, on 03/02/2008, -0/+0Being from Sarnia, I have to ask, are you high?
- WannaBeSquare, on 03/02/2008, -1/+5Canada is the *****, so it really doesn't matter
- aussieNickuss, on 03/01/2008, -41/+200I have.
- aguitarhero, on 03/01/2008, -2/+83Somehow the American accent really impressed me.
- senfo, on 03/01/2008, -1/+16Which one?
- Neiby, on 03/01/2008, -5/+6Only one of them was good (the Californian.) The rest sucked. The Canadians among us tell us that her Canadian accents suck. I wonder what our European friends think about her European accents.
- drewlynde, on 03/01/2008, -0/+11Dude if she's from Seattle you can't say her accent sucked for that one, it's her natural voice!?!
- Neiby, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1True. I didn't really listen to that one , and I don't know anyone from there so I wouldn't have anything to compare hers to.
- bagelmaster, on 03/01/2008, -2/+6Canadians are just whiny because they had to hear what they actually sound like. I've heard it many times on vent when I used to play WoW. Some of them really DO say "aboot" instead of "about" and "oot-side" instead of "outside." Its hilarious.
- drewlynde, on 03/01/2008, -0/+11Dude if she's from Seattle you can't say her accent sucked for that one, it's her natural voice!?!

- DesignEx, on 03/01/2008, -2/+31Could be because she is American.

- transitive, on 03/02/2008, -1/+3the subtle differences between the LA and the Seattle accents was a nice touch. similar phonetics but different rhythm of speech. the brooklyn accent she did i only ever hear in older people (and ive lived in brooklyn for the last 3 years).
- senfo, on 03/01/2008, -1/+16Which one?
- aussieNickuss, on 03/01/2008, -2/+99Her girl from Sydney accent was spot on, but the "Awww..G'day maaate" accent is so stereotypical.
- chingy1788, on 03/01/2008, -0/+2stereo typical accent, but I don't notice it often... maybe I'm too used to Sydney or something
- sTiKyt, on 03/01/2008, -0/+9I agree it her Sydney accent was perfect

- Varz, on 03/02/2008, -0/+1Yeah it makes you wonder about the American stereotype; generally an ignorant idiot.
- sloonark, on 03/02/2008, -0/+2The Aussie accent was way too overdone.
- gbro, on 03/02/2008, -0/+2Yeah, her "Broad Australian" was scary (in how bad it was).
- Murdats, on 03/02/2008, -0/+2I think the sydney one was spot on, the other one I assume was meant to be overdone because she stated just australia and not a region.
- Timmyftw, on 03/02/2008, -0/+3There are people here is Aus that talk like that. Don't deny it.
- StevenJV, on 03/02/2008, -0/+2Sydney one was spot on, the true-blue is how australians talk out in the bush, you just probably haven't been there.
- TheSlinky, on 03/02/2008, -0/+1Nah, the sydney one was waaaayyy off, I'm from sydney and her accent was far too over the top and stereotypical. That was more like an Adelaide or Western Australian accent except a lot stronger.
- caponumen, on 03/01/2008, -23/+9I'm deeply conflicted on this one.
While she is truly very, VERY cute and cleaver, I still feel very strongly the muffling effect of my desire will drown out the accent altogether. - aajjcckk, on 03/01/2008, -4/+339Yes, they're all stereotypes, but that's the point - she needed to do that to distinguish clearly between them, otherwise people would be saying "they're not very good, they all sound really similar". We KNOW not everyone from those destinations speaks like that.

- SRSco, on 03/01/2008, -23/+13You know what's better a better way to avoid sounding like a pretentious foreigner? Not using the Union Jack as your avatar and throwing words around like "mate" and "*****".

- mickstephenson, on 03/01/2008, -2/+11You may be right about the avatar, but why should we make the effort to change the way we speak so we don't sound British. I say project as "pr-oh-ject" and progress in a similar manner "pr-oh-gress" - both de-emphasizing the 'oh'. There are those who say it like this: "pr-O-ject" and "pr-O-gress".
Co-worker: "Yes, I am working on that particular prOject."

I'm from Buffalo, and I can totally pick out a Canadian.- chris1012, on 03/02/2008, -1/+2Of course you can, don't even get me started. Buffalo.. too late. The Buffalo accent is the worst of all in North America. It's amazing how one city can have an accent so different from the rest of the world.
- musters, on 03/03/2008, -1/+2Don't worry, the GTA is going to swallow Buffalo soon and they will all be speaking in a so-called "Seattle" accent. - coffee200am, on 03/01/2008, -3/+4That's racist! When Obama is elected you'll be reported!
- ilikesboobs, on 03/01/2008, -3/+30That's not an accent, it's a speech impediment.
- grayapple, on 03/01/2008, -1/+7Her Belfast accent is really just a Dublin accent.
=(
Impressive none the less.- scronide, on 03/01/2008, -0/+4I'll second that -- she just repeats a Dublin accent.
- TheBanditKing, on 03/01/2008, -0/+3From a Dubliner - Nah, there's a subtle difference in inflection, the belfast accent was much better really, nobody has spoken like that in Dublin since the great famine! Don't blame her though, along with the french we probably have one of the most over-satired accents in the world
- grayapple, on 03/02/2008, -0/+4Considering I'm from Belfast. I think I can tell what and what isn't a "Belfast" accent.
That wasn't at all a Belfast accent, what so ever, as it didn't made me curl up in a ball in shame, as the Belfast accent is ***** HORRID.
- grayapple, on 03/02/2008, -0/+4Considering I'm from Belfast. I think I can tell what and what isn't a "Belfast" accent.

- Deodrus, on 03/01/2008, -4/+19I'd like to hear that.
- chix0r, on 03/01/2008, -3/+14Wouldn't you like to know.
- Biks, on 03/02/2008, -1/+4Well yea...
- lundeja, on 03/01/2008, -8/+1Pretty sure the orgasm is a universal language/accent.
- frositay, on 03/02/2008, -1/+4Someone hasnt seen many porn movies. Or had sex with a real girl.

- introitus, on 03/01/2008, -17/+1She actually is speaking different "dialects" and not accents.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accent_(linguistics)- theradical, on 03/01/2008, -0/+8Well according to that link she WAS speaking in accents. An accent is how her voice sounds and a dialect is what she says. Unless you think a French person speaking English is actually a French dialect of English?
- Tarnum, on 03/01/2008, -1/+1A French guy speaks English with French accent.
A Scottish/Californian/Australlian/London guy speaks in dialect.
I'm Polish. I speak English with Polish accent. I speak Polish in Southern Dialect.- theradical, on 03/02/2008, -0/+2Sort of.
A French guy speaks English with a French accent.
A Scottish/Californian/Australlian/London guy (probably) speaks in dialect WITH their respective accent. I could speak in a Scottish dialect with a French accent, etc.
- theradical, on 03/02/2008, -0/+2Sort of.
- Tarnum, on 03/01/2008, -1/+1A French guy speaks English with French accent.
- staffell, on 03/01/2008, -0/+10You're wrong. Accents deal with the phonology (or sounds) of the words. A dialect refers to the word choices themselves (lexis, grammar, syntax etc). What is she changing each time? The sounds.
Dialects and Accents generally go side by side, because of Geographical location. But they don't have to; someone could easily have a strong American accent yet speak an English Dialect.
*edit* you've proved yourself wrong by your own link - Neiby, on 03/01/2008, -0/+4If you can't tell that she's also changing her accent then you need a new set of ears.

- ophello, on 03/02/2008, -0/+1And that is relevant...how?
- Cinaga, on 03/01/2008, -10/+3Her foreign accents were brillant, but a lot of her american ones were off. The Texan accent wasn't right. That's just the stereo type that people think us Texans all talk like, but it's very wrong.
- HYPEractive, on 03/01/2008, -0/+11lol, i bet everyone said the same thing about their region...
"Her _____ accents were brillant [sic], but a lot of her _______ ones were off." - OneLess, on 03/01/2008, -0/+7Hey, I've watched Walker Texas Ranger- that accent was spot-on, sir.
- Xios117, on 03/01/2008, -1/+1Lmao
- handman003, on 03/01/2008, -0/+0It sounds similar to what some of us Mississippians sound like, though. When people hear me speak for the first time, they usually ask if I'm from Texas...
- PabloIV, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1She was channelling Dolly Parton, sounds exactly like her, Sacrlett O'Hara minus the melodrama for the southeast accent. She was probably imitating specific regional celebrities accross the board.
- SemiSarcastic, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1Being from Austin Texas I have met plenty of people who talk like that. Besides, the female Texas accents are so hot.
- ligyron, on 03/01/2008, -1/+2"All her accents sounded dead-on to me. However, the one she did of my nationality was wrong--it actually sounded quite typical"

- Deodrus, on 03/01/2008, -4/+5How come no one mentioned this yet - at 1:57 she looks scary !! Was that part of the act? I think so. Rather, I hope so.
- adrianmonk, on 03/01/2008, -0/+3Wasn't that the set-up for the New Jersey accent?
- DrZocktahedron, on 03/01/2008, -6/+3Were the interruptions part of her impressions?

- deadlift, on 03/01/2008, -0/+11Yeah they were. She's basically saying that Brooklyn people are easily agitated and loud and snappy people.
- sevenslashfour, on 03/01/2008, -0/+34Oh, chill out people. Some of them are stereotypical, but that was the POINT. Most people wouldn't "get it" if they weren't.
Either way, I enjoyed that. Pretty cool :) - cave, on 03/01/2008, -7/+2No love for New Yawk?

- Rain12913, on 03/01/2008, -2/+18She's mimicking stereotypical accents from each region which is what you would see actors doing in region-specific movies or on TV. This is why whenever you read reviews for a region-specific film in the region where it supposedly takes place, you're bound to see something about the accents being inaccurate. However, to the rest of the world who isn't familiar with the region, the accents sound spot on and interesting. That's the reality of accents, they're much more subtle and indiscernable than how they are portrayed, but as an actress it is her duty to play up to the stereotypes to make them more enjoyable and amusing.
- nomad4, on 03/01/2008, -0/+3I agree. The bottom line is that accents are simply approximations. There will always be people with the widely recognized accent, and then there will be many others who come from the same place and have a different accent. How they sound depends on a variety of factors, including their education, their socioeconomic background, their geographic location, and much more. I have two friends who grew up overseas in two towns under a mile from each other, and their accents are different: one is clearly distinguished as a stereotypical accent and the other is not as obvious. So yeah, popular portrayals of accents are entertaining but there is no real way to be 100% accurate by doing only one version of each regional accent.
- ronshubby, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1I have to agree though, coming from Sydney, Australia, her accent was perfect.
- Arcesius, on 03/02/2008, -0/+1Oy! That's the ticket, innit, governer?

- Otto-Mate, on 03/01/2008, -2/+5Belfast wasn't even close. Some of the rest sounded pretty good, though I'll leave it to the people that live in those areas to comment :)
- theoodone, on 03/02/2008, -0/+0the Toronto accent wasn't good either
- bbcoburn, on 03/01/2008, -0/+8If she could do a New Orleans accent I'd be impressed. I've never heard anyone who wasn't from there do a good New Orleans accent.
- whorunbartertwn, on 03/01/2008, -0/+4We went on a swamp tour near New Orleans with a Cajun guide... coolest accent ever. To point out something weird over there he'd say "somethin weeyad ovah theyah" etc. plus some great general rantings against the evil French for things they did hundreds of years ago.
- banido, on 03/01/2008, -3/+39I´m slightly aroused by that.
