- arbulus, on 10/10/2007, -2/+203This story is really inspiring. Normally, you find a kid who gets bullied and then ends up hanging himself in his bedroom because no one gives a damn. It's wonderful to see people really stand up for one another to stop this destructive cycle.
- fadeout, on 10/10/2007, -3/+156Wow, that's so backwards. A pink shirt is the calling card of the jock frat ***** these days...
- fuzzmeister, on 10/10/2007, -1/+126"called him a homosexual"
I'm pretty sure they put it a bit more... colorfully. - Nougat, on 10/10/2007, -3/+87I couldn't believe that something like this was possible, and then I realized it happened in Canada.
- BastionKane, on 11/07/2007, -2/+78It's not pink!! It's salmon!
- dopey420, on 10/10/2007, -2/+77O BTW. Bully askes. "MAN WHY THE ***** YOU GOT ON A PINK SHIRT!"
Kid. "Pink is for breast cancer."
Bully "WTF"
Kid "***** the whales I am trying to save some *****."
Bully Laughs walks away.
PEACE - sparf, on 10/10/2007, -5/+77Chris Crocker == Gay
Wearing a Pink Shirt != Gay
It's just a freakin' color. - lukas88, on 10/10/2007, -2/+66One of the greatest feelings I ever had in high school was standing up for someone who was being picked on. I bet the parents of these kids are beaming with pride.
- nubbler, on 10/10/2007, -0/+57I always go to the cafeteria to throw chairs when things go bad in my life.
- mynickel, on 10/10/2007, -3/+58Don't You ... Forget about me.
- ericisshort, on 10/10/2007, -1/+53"super-fabulous?"
- ThE0eNiGmA, on 10/10/2007, -0/+47Steve Ballmer?
- jdaniel284, on 10/10/2007, -6/+43We did similar things back when I was in high school. But instead of wearing pink shirts, we wore guns.
- ravan46, on 10/10/2007, -3/+34I was waiting for the line about parents and/or teachers intervening in some way. Then I see it's not in the US. Good job, let the kids stand up for themselves on their own.
- lordwow, on 10/10/2007, -2/+29Someone should informed the bullies that popped collars are also gay.
- Gonz037, on 10/10/2007, -5/+30John Hughes going to make the movie?
- Frnnkdlxx, on 10/10/2007, -8/+31Two students at Central Kings Rural High School fought back against bullying recently, unleashing a sea of pink after a new student was harassed and threatened when he showed up wearing a pink shirt.
"The bullies got angry," said Travis. "One guy was throwing chairs (in the cafeteria). We’re glad we got the response we wanted."
David said one of the bullies angrily asked him whether he knew pink on a male was a symbol of homosexuality. He told the bully that didn’t matter to him and shouldn’t to anyone.
"Something like the colour of your shirt or pants, that’s ridiculous," he said. "Our intention was to stand up for this kid so he doesn’t get picked on." Travis said the bullies "keep giving us dirty looks, (and flashing their pistols) but we know we have the support of the whole student body."
Now for a game of, find the out of place statement!
Alright, I give up, its:
"One guy was throwing chairs (in the cafeteria)..."
Who the /f/ does that! - Whackly, on 10/10/2007, -1/+24a demonstration of the correlation between homophobic behaviour and homosexual tendencies?
- Tenlow, on 10/10/2007, -1/+22Lightish red? They already have a name for that color, it's called pink.
- bhowell, on 10/10/2007, -1/+21In my high school the seats were attached to the table :(
- Fracture98, on 10/10/2007, -0/+20You may have physics sorted out, but your sentence structure and capitalization skills could use some work.
- jackminardi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17Damn son, you are so smart. Its cool you dont brag about stuff
- Oronar, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16Apparently your massive intellect didn't include grammatical proficiency.
- draftingtableX, on 10/10/2007, -2/+17Don't don't don't DON'T!
- scaaven2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15*throws chairs around the cafeteria*
- Whackly, on 10/10/2007, -3/+18Who cares. Let's assume yes. That doesn't mean he should be harassed and threatened. His preference is irrelevant.
Better yet, let's assume no. - xbertox, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16at my high school the people that made fun of everyone were the ones that were in leadership and programs like that. they all thought there ***** dont stink... thats why i hatted high school so much. but now when see those people they are all either fat or have ***** ass jobs. i love karma.
- KyleGoetz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14Dude. I honestly have no idea what the ***** you just said. Is your native language English?!?
- dunderballer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14I wish that I had that level of maturity, bravery, strength, and initiative to take a stand against bullying back in school. Mad Props
- dopplerdog, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14Good on you. I wish I had the balls to do that. I went to school in the 80s, in a very homophobic environment. I remember this one kid had a miserable time throughout high school, with pretty much everyone abusing and harassing him. He was slightly effeminate, and overweight. I hate to think what he had to endure. Anyway, though I never took part of the ritual abuse that was given him, I did nothing to stop it. I just looked on. I feel ashamed I didn't do anything, but I was scared to go against the crowd. I was a coward.
If anyone out there had to endure this sort of treatment, I apologize on behalf of all the idle bystanders that did nothing to help. - praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -0/+13Maybe the bully was huge?
- kiwiboyus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13About the only benefit of going to Catholic School my whole life was that we all wore the same uniform. I never had to worry about the BS of wear designer clothes. Kids shouldn't need to worry about BS like that, they have enough going on. Props to those guys for standing up for the "little guy", that's what I call being a "Man".
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13OK, so we have proof.
- ffleming, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12with ivory grips?
- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -0/+12That's because "and flashing their pistols" is indeed the out of place statement. Wasn't in the original article. You win!
- gh0st3000, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11i think he means the part about the students standing up for the kid. that would never happen here.
- defectDS, on 10/10/2007, -4/+15Chris Crocker is beyond gay, that not even we can explain him.
Love, the gays. ^_^ - m3mn0n, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12magically delicious?
- KyleGoetz, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11I guess it's different in Canada (where the story originates).
- BJNK, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12Wait.. you think the out of place statement was the guy throwing chairs, and not the "and flashing their pistols"??
Id be a lot more surprised if bullies were flashing guns than throwing chairs, but maybe that's just me... - rupaw, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11Glad you made it through!
- maxhrk, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Vegeta worn one too in DBZ.
- Skanadian, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9It's not, we still have the jock frat ***** who wear pink shirts. But it WAS in Nova Scotia, so that could be the reason, things there are.... different.
- Dundasbro, on 10/10/2007, -8/+17Only to simpletons like you.
- michaelb1, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11I say Laaa. La La La La. La La La La
- sabach, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9I was the defensive captain for my football team, I took every opportunity to let my peers know that bullying is kid stuff and I didn't want to be on a team of kids. I still feel strongly about bullying and wish I had done more when it mattered.
- Soave, on 11/07/2007, -0/+8Is that why you didn't pay attention in English?
- luet, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9We had anti-bully day last year, I don't know if they'll have the same thing this year. Also last year they had a day where you were supposed to be silent all day to make a statement against homophobia, you had to wear a little sign with a paragraph on why you weren't talking so your teacher wouldn't falcon punch you.
- ghosteater, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8every public school i went to (in the US) had some form of bully problem that the administration would handle either terribly or not at all. i saw the majority of students conforming to the social limitations of their student factions. and i think a lot of them left high school still believing that this would be the model of the rest of their lives, i resented it then and resent it now.. the kids aren't told enough that life isn't a popularity contest, and at least for me the school experience had little to do with getting an education.
