- bloodylip, on 10/12/2007, -3/+131It's BBSpot. It's satire. People really should mark it as such, instead of trying to pass it off as actual news.
- Ellsass, on 11/05/2008, -11/+65"As a nation, would all the higher-ups fall for this?"
You seem to have. - Coffeedemon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+46Ah, bbspot. The poor man's Onion.
- tony134340, on 10/12/2007, -37/+71Do we want our govt computers secured by a man who thinks he's an IT guy and says the 'power' of prayer can rid you of DOS attacks and viruses?
As a nation, would all the higher-ups fall for this? Well, given that they think the internets is a series of tubes, FSM help us all. - mbrutsch, on 10/12/2007, -7/+38@bloodylip
I think the person who posted this assumed that the average intelligence of Digg readers would allow them to realize it was satire without marking it as such. - thedreaming1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24I was laughing at this story out of shear fear and panic, then I realized it was satire and I put down the chainsaw...
- richbradshaw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19I have this running at home, can't seem to find anyway to run it as a daemon, and there weren't any wizards to help set it up.
Do I need to install it on all computers, or is it omnipresent? Also do I have to pray for all ports, or can I automate the praying by some kind of script? - twtmc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17This just in: Hackers Atheist, Firewall Useless
But its BBSpot, so it's not like its real anyways - matthewaaron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15BBspot is a satirical news and comedy source and meant to be funny. If you are easily offended, gullible or don't have a sense of humor we suggest you go elsewhere.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -17/+32I wouldn't let this guy take a piss without a congressional inquiry until he's out of office.
- brstilson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14I know the church lady, but I didn't get the reference. an effective reference would have been "how CONVEEEEEEEENIENT"
- drysz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14LOL I was scared for a few lines :)
- Egoist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Did the word "satire" not make it over from England?
- reticulate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9ping god -t
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9In a surprising turn of events, both of you will be dugg down for being retarded.
- eplawless, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12le sigh.
- Adoozie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8It's satire.
- Blrfl, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9You folks do realize that BBSpot is a satire site, right?
- BRODEL, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12The software requires no installation or maintenance fees, but only a onetime registration fee for unlimited computers.
At least it's convenient! - gr8one, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10I can't believe any of you thought this was real. If the cross on the computer didn't give it away, the article should have. RTFA.
- cynicist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I knew this was a joke as soon as I read "Bush proposes firewall"
- frankidadio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7The sad thing is you're unsure if it's satire given the track record of this administration...
- dirka, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I think this is why Microsoft Vista has it all wrong...They just need a faith based WMA Activation system insted of the usual broom handle in your ass system.
Now go with God my children - guregu, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Momma always said viruses, spyware and adware were the devil!,,,,,THE DEVIL!!!
- MysticSavage, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6If your faith is strong enough, you shouldn't need a firewall.
- Jorenko, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7You should probably check to make sure they've actually mirrored it before linking that, shouldn't you?
- eplawless, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9"protected FROM -> outside attacks BY -> the faith-based firewall"
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Tough crowd today. The sarcasm just doesn't penetrate those thick skulls.
- schroduggity, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7and it's sad how few diggers will get the Curchlady reference.
- thcobbs, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7It's a joke...
I swear that it appears you must have your sense of humor surgically removed on sign-up to post on Digg. - offput, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Before I gouge my eyes out... this is satire, right?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5"I think the person who posted this assumed that the average intelligence of Digg readers would allow them to realize it was satire without marking it as such."
Yes, judging by some of the responses here, I would have to agree the intelligence of Digg readers is distinctly average. - ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6"Burn them. Burn them all!!" /Ralph's evil leprechaun
So when do they propose burning witches again? - anidal, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7finally, we can use 'the Google' without fear of DOS attacks
- prammy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+32 bbspot stories in a 24 hour period. Wow
- ViktorVaughn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It could be satin, but I think it's SAAATAAAN!
- buggles, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5You've just been trolled. Reel him in.
- schroduggity, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Brstilson
you're completely right. on second thought, I doubt even Brodel realized it. a much funnier Churchlady reference could have been constructed. alas, even www.duggmirror.com could not save the link. How INNNTERESSSSTINGGG could it beee hmmmm SAAAAAAATIIIIIIIN???!?!?!???!!!!!!11122??? - mozami, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4[GOD]
Ye Digger Danieldrehmer, This is a hoax. - wintermute0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Should just rename 'Offbeat News' to 'Every Damn Article on The Onion' and save trolls the hassle of telling everyone they didn't get the joke and that the article is getting buried.
It would free up some time for them to spam OS Wars threads. - thcobbs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@treelovinhippie
Thank our media who don't like to publish good stories cause they don't get marketshare with lovey-dovey news. - coolmos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You can only automate praying if your Tibetan and use these mills with prayers in them.
But i doubt a Tibetan would use a Christisoft firewall, if any. - larryandelva, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yes, it's satire. But did you know that from the headline? I'll bet you didn't. It's hard to distinguish this administration's reality from satire. A birth control opponent in charge of family planning? A horse's rear for a diplomat? "Food insecurity" instead of "hunger?" A faith-based firewall makes more sense than a lot of their actual policies.
- joshman5k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm an Aussie too,
have you heard of the mid term elections? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Enough of this *****. Digg needs a "fake humourus news" category.
- rnguyen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3ha ha.... :-/
With our president n' all still in office, its kinda hard not to believe this article at first glance - neko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yes, you are correct, it is marked as "Offbeat News".
- jellygraph, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3lol! anyone attempting to break in will receive the wrath of god or some blight of some kind... apparently, most hackers trying to break in are sodomites
- wintermute0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Australian Misses Obvious Satire Site, movie at 11. Back to you, Steve...
- mrbrant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I love how the satirist put in that the company is in Houston :)
Goes along with the whole corrupt thing.
Nice. -
