- HeDiggMe, on 11/30/2008, -8/+368See Kanye, Bush cares about at least one black perseon.
- Elderon, on 11/30/2008, -14/+247So let me get this straight. He pardons a guy with a ***** load of cocaine and pardons him, but all the harmless cannabis users in jail get to sit and rot?
I guess bush misses his powdery goodness. - wildest, on 11/30/2008, -22/+205What a penis.
- inactive, on 11/30/2008, -22/+164Please. As Americans, we should still be far more outraged with Gerald Ford pardoning Richard Nixon than this tripe.
Every president has their checklist as they are leaving the White House. Sometimes, they aren't even upheld. Like the case of Bill Clinton granting tribal status to the Duwamish Indian Tribe here in Washington State, which was overturned when Bush took office by the Interior Department. They are still considered extinct/non-existent by the federal government.
But yes, ***** Bush. - BillyB, on 11/30/2008, -11/+119This is great news for all the people (and their families) who have died in the name of the US War on Drugs.
- AmazingSteve, on 11/30/2008, -7/+113No he doesn't, he's just looking for a Coke hookup.
- kjuto, on 11/30/2008, -2/+101i prefer my coke liquid. when it's frozen it's pretty much undrinkable.
- algaeturd, on 11/30/2008, -7/+99I think that's one of the problems with Americans...."Don't be mad at THIS, be mad at THAT."
Um, it's OK to be sufficiently pissed off at EVERYTHING a president does that is wrong.
I mean, comparison criticism only justifies the other *****. Go ahead and hate it all if it's all wrong. - inactive, on 11/30/2008, -2/+75This is not the submitters fault because the media reports are conflicting but Forte was NOT pardoned. His sentence was commuted. There is a huge difference. His conviction will stay on his record.
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/25/washington/25par ... - nowsourcing, on 11/30/2008, -4/+70rationale? Liquid cocaine isn't as big a deal as solid cocaine?
- machocheese34, on 12/01/2008, -2/+64John Forte is not a gangsta rapper, he was part of the fugees
- Zalian, on 11/30/2008, -7/+59When I found this out I just had to click it. Its hilarious.
- zeblith, on 12/01/2008, -0/+51Bush is a big cocaine fan, remember?
- pwsegal, on 12/01/2008, -2/+49He's neither a penis nor a vagina. Both are useful and productive.
- spacebuddy, on 11/30/2008, -21/+62Bush screwed the country so bad .......
- psykiv, on 12/01/2008, -0/+37Failed Miserably?
I'd say he succeeded. He and Cheney gave their buddies in Halliburton no bid contracts giving them insanely large profits.
Not to mention gave his oil buddies quarter after quarter after quarter of record profits.
Then gave his banking buddies the equivalent of $28,000 per every man, woman, and child in the united states.
I'd say he's a ***** evil genius. - amanilaenvelope, on 11/30/2008, -0/+35Wannabe? Yo, he has a crew all on his own, dawg.
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2008/11/im ... - lordtyros, on 12/01/2008, -0/+32I make mine into cocaine freezy pops!
- Suricou, on 12/01/2008, -0/+31So much speculation! Everyone,
http://news.google.co.uk/news?q=John+Forte
News! Confirming that Bush has indeed commuted the sentence, but also providing a lot of other details.
- The conviction was in 2000, and he has been in jail since then. The timeing of the commution can leave no doubt as to one thing: Bush was waiting until after the election, knowing this isn't going to be popular.
- There was an organised campaign for the commution. Key influences include Carly Simon and someone familiar to all diggers, Senator Orrin Hatch. Hatch not only personally ordered Forte transfered to a prison more personally convenient to him, but also requested the commution.
http://playlouder.com/content/17565/carly-simon-ta ...
- Noone has even tried to claim he is innocent - I can't even find if he was found guilty or pleaded guilty, but either way he isn't denying it now. Also, the sentence he was serving is the minimum for posesion of liquid cocaine, fourteen years. He did about half of it.
Considering this information, I'm guessing that he probably has friends in high places. Not a friend of the president personally, but he must know someone who knows someone who knows someone (probably Hatch) who is owed a favor. - esteskid, on 11/30/2008, -6/+36Now if he would just pardon everyone who got sent to jail on drug charges.
- Nicksname1, on 12/01/2008, -5/+35Damn where did you go to school, Crack College?
- CeeAyy, on 12/01/2008, -2/+27You don't have it straight. Forte was given a 14 year sentence and he served 7 years of it. Half time is normal for good behavior in the US. Commuting his sentence shouldn't actually be a big deal considering the fact that many criminals do half time. The real big deal is that many people get less time for murder.
So, again... keep in mind that he wasn't pardoned. His sentence was commuted. There is no way he was doing seven more years anyway. Nobody does the full time unless they are given a life sentence or death. As much as I didn't like Bush as a President, this is much ado about nothing. This really should be a non story.
As for people calling him a gangsta rapper... I am not surprised. It is not uncommon for people to talk about things they know nothing about. I'm surprised we don't have a category of gangster R&B artists. Artists who talk about being in gangs or glorifying gangster culture fit into that category, however, if you watch the news you get the idea that rap is short for gangster rap. It's not. NWA... gangster rap... John Forte... not. - WiretapStudios, on 12/01/2008, -0/+24Re-productive even...
- bsmang, on 12/01/2008, -0/+24Yeah, he just wanted to have a capable dealer heavily indebted to him after he's out of office.
- DangQuesadilla, on 11/30/2008, -6/+30Well if Bush can pardon himself, I guess he can pardon that guy.
- theweiside, on 12/01/2008, -1/+23forte was educated at phillips exeter, true gangster indeed.
- axelgrease, on 11/30/2008, -13/+34Bush is just a wanna be gangster who failed miserably
- zip000, on 12/01/2008, -1/+22It's like a person, but with a little more "e"
- 471776, on 12/01/2008, -1/+22I thought this was an Onion article.
I guess you just couldn't make this stuff up. - Jeffler, on 12/01/2008, -2/+23$1.4M = Dealer.
- zip000, on 12/01/2008, -0/+21Sorry, I can't be bothered.
- midgetfit, on 12/01/2008, -2/+22The war on Drugs is a joke, the govt. needs to rethink its strategy on that one, i.e. Amsterdam.
- smotpoker, on 12/01/2008, -6/+26They shot someone in the ass as he was running away and lied about it multiple times. That isn't "doing their jobs". They deserve to rot.
http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=YWVhZjE5ZmVkZ ... - TheMachine1, on 12/01/2008, -1/+21The free base when hot would be a liquid. but I doubt thats what they mean. Its either a solution of the salt form or base in a solvent such as alcohol, water, etc.
- b9gh47q, on 11/30/2008, -5/+25What a *****.
- GawtMilk, on 12/01/2008, -0/+20You cant blame him; it was probably his dealer.
- smotpoker, on 12/01/2008, -1/+20They were about as patriotic as the ATL police who kicked in the old ladies' door, shot her to death and then made an informant lie to the media and say he fingered her house.
http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=YWVhZjE5ZmVkZ ...
Do real "patriots" shoot suspects without being threatened or know for sure what they'd done wrong? Lie on their reports? Hide evidence?
Funny, I was raised to believe "patriots" obey the law - especially the ones who agree to take jobs WORKING for the government and take oaths to the at affect. - adventflux, on 12/01/2008, -2/+21From a linked article: "He has turned down more than 8,000 pleas for pardon, and the number he has issued to date is less than half as many as either Presidents Clinton or Reagan."
I'm not a Bush fan, but this shouldn't be another thing to hold against him. - Loonacy, on 12/01/2008, -2/+19@brizz: You misunderstand. Bush isn't looking for coke, he's looking for Coke. He's thirsty and he heard this guy had $1.4million worth of liquid Coke.
- michaelGregoire, on 12/01/2008, -0/+17Buried because John Forte is NOT a "Gangsta" rapper.
- adidos, on 12/01/2008, -2/+18"He pardons a guy with a ***** load of cocaine and pardons him"
I think you need to lay off the cannabis my friend and lay off the cannabis. - inactive, on 12/01/2008, -0/+15So he's an appendix then.
- qbthemc, on 12/01/2008, -0/+14What a Vagina.
- Harboggles, on 11/30/2008, -10/+24I'm glad he got out. He still had another 6 years to serve. But no one should be in jail for owning drugs unless they are high behind the wheel or giving them out to kids.
- Eclisp, on 12/01/2008, -2/+16Forte did get a really harsh sentence though it was like 20 years or something for his first offense.
- Sherman901, on 12/01/2008, -3/+16you're right, but i can deny it.
- Anifanatic, on 12/01/2008, -1/+14You're a freaking idiot. I don't think you understand what's being said.
- FattyCorpuscle, on 11/30/2008, -18/+31Sooo he pardons this guy but won't pardon the two border patrol agents that shot the pot smuggler in the ass?
- reiggin, on 12/01/2008, -5/+18You mean the pardons that out-number the Bush pardons 2 to 1?
