- ProfessorLX, on 04/08/2009, -2/+35i know the first thing i do after excessive drinking is to go online and check my BAC
- HtomSirveaux, on 04/09/2009, -1/+25I've got to add this to my TI-89.
- dannymb877, on 04/09/2009, -1/+22But officer, the BAC Calculator says I'm at .079.
- Voide, on 04/09/2009, -0/+19Cool...if I take 20 shots of everclear, I'll be able to drive in 70.125 hour(s). Good to know :/
- rhdesigns, on 04/08/2009, -2/+14I think this would make a good iPhone app although I could see some possible legal issues arising from that lol
- stockgotti, on 04/09/2009, -1/+12It says if I drink a case of beer in six hours that I'll be put in a coma. I could perform brain surgery after a case over six hours. Buried as inaccurate.
- aherman, on 04/09/2009, -0/+11http://www.breathalyzer.net/
Do it the right way. My buddy got one, and they are quite the enablers. - Squeetard, on 04/09/2009, -0/+11I order hookers and pizza.
- rebelcommander, on 04/09/2009, -0/+9I think at that point you might be dead.
- Hardataq, on 04/09/2009, -1/+9You're such a man.
- benroy, on 04/09/2009, -0/+7Well I feel *****, but apparently I have room for a few more.
- inactive, on 04/09/2009, -0/+6Titanium?
- aherman, on 04/09/2009, -1/+6That's taking a Friday night easy. And you shouldn't be able to count everything if you were really drinking hard.
- stockgotti, on 04/09/2009, -0/+4Good point. I never have had the courage to try before beer number 24.
- KibblesnBitts, on 04/09/2009, -0/+4If i were to have 8 12 ounce glasses of everclear in the span of 5 hours, my BAC would be 4.257 and I can drive in about 246 hours. Basically, I'll still apparently be alive in about a week and a half to drive!
- Resch17, on 04/09/2009, -0/+4Drinking and calculators. Solid.
- Barackalypse, on 04/09/2009, -0/+4I'd much rather have a liver damage calculator. Is 4 shots of whiskey a day, which isn't enough to make me legally intoxicated spread over 30 minutes going to damage my liver?
- mrkmrk, on 04/09/2009, -1/+5COOL STORY, BRO
http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/89/coolstorybro ... - skitzor, on 04/09/2009, -0/+3does anyone else think that is *****? i seem to be getting a ridiculous BAC.
- EllimistX, on 04/09/2009, -0/+3Who gets ***** with a BAC under .08?
- blackninja543, on 04/09/2009, -0/+3Ya really
- branton87, on 04/09/2009, -0/+3Wait... If I consume more than 60 drinks a month I'm an alcoholic? D:
- bongHits4u, on 04/09/2009, -0/+3agreed - the site needs to be more drunk friendly
- toastmonster, on 04/09/2009, -0/+3The percentage goes down as you select heaver drinker, or alcoholic - what are they trying to teach us here?
- Toukakoukan, on 04/09/2009, -0/+3Pretty limited calculator, you can't specify your own measures and it doesn't even have ***** PINTS!
- EllimistX, on 04/09/2009, -0/+3I'm pretty sure that's what all drunk drivers say...
- delooka, on 04/09/2009, -0/+3its what happens when you get a quarter of your 289 "friends" to digg your story....
- displaced1, on 04/09/2009, -0/+3You guys would be surprised how many people get a DUI the morning a long night of drinking. Just because you slept a few hours does not mean you are sober.
- Joomal, on 04/09/2009, -0/+3Yeah I call BS on that too. Sometimes I can have 2-3 beers a night after work.. that makes me a heavy drinker? Lol
- axelthegreat, on 04/09/2009, -0/+2And you would be dead 100 times over.
- Meesher, on 04/09/2009, -0/+2I see, but can you perform brain surgery when you're sober? :)
- davdev, on 04/09/2009, -0/+2I call BS on this as your tolerance level has nothing to do with your BAC.
Say you have two people who each way 185 pounds, and they each drink 8 beers in two hours. One of them drinks 4 nights a week, and the other drinks 4 nights a year. The person who drinks 4 nights a week will probably have better motor control than the other, but their BAC's will be exactly the same. - orelses, on 04/09/2009, -0/+2No but it does make you heavy. :-)
- bongHits4u, on 04/09/2009, -0/+2...or you could buy a cheap breathalyzer.
- brynn, on 04/09/2009, -0/+2NO PINTS, and i don't believe it anyway, I'm a regular drinker and it tells me I'll be sober in 4 hours. 12 the next morning more likely
- ShiftyBizniss, on 04/09/2009, -0/+2This thing is *****.... 6 beers and 2 shots over 4 hours and I can't drive for 24 hours?
I'm pretty sure I'd be OK when I wake up at 10am or so. - zosX, on 04/10/2009, -0/+1Yes.
- EllimistX, on 04/09/2009, -0/+1It will be superseded when they make an breathalyzer with a dock connector for the 3.0 iPhone firmware.... now that I think about it, I think it's already been done for the old ipods.
On a side note, I'd normally say don't steal my idea about the breathalyzer, but I'm sure that's one of the first things on everyone's mind when they announced dock accessories. - cobrapeed, on 04/09/2009, -5/+6Front page? Really????
- ttamshadbolt, on 04/09/2009, -0/+1.536 for 10 beers? I thought the official alcohol poisoning level was around 3.5
- itsbob, on 04/09/2009, -0/+1I think its a bit off:
It says I can have have 6 9% beers in one hour and have a BAC of only 0.062
I can drink and I know after 4 of those beers I should not be driving, I can handle my alcohol pretty well but at that point I know I am buzzed. But 6, hell no. - jzh1554, on 04/09/2009, -1/+2I usually come to Digg to find things my college doesn't force me to see...
- flaminglips, on 04/09/2009, -0/+1wow... this puts in perspective how much of an alcoholic i am
- RexStJames, on 04/13/2009, -0/+1I thought the same thing initially, so I actually read the bit at the bottom that talks about how this is calculated. It turns out that, according to the US Department of Transportation article that is linked to from the posted page:
"While there are several factors that determine metabolism rate, the prime factor is the recent drinking history since the metabolism rate is determined by the production of an enzyme in the liver which generates more enzymes if over a period of time (usually several months) it is called upon to process frequent/large quantities of alcohol."
So yes, being a heavy drinker DOES decrease your BAC. A heavy drinker will metabolize alcohol more quickly resulting in a lower BAC after a period of time. - DiggzDE, on 04/08/2009, -1/+2glug glug glug
- diemunkiesdie, on 04/09/2009, -0/+1Try rupissed.com
- joelec, on 04/09/2009, -0/+1Exactly, I hate how these apps pop up and people are dumb enough to believe that they are true. I know it won't stop anyone from drinking and driving but seriously, you should never drive after drinking without a good nights sleep in the way. Thinking that tolerance has anything to do with BAC is as dumb as thinking that coffee or a BLT or a cold shower will sober you up. It might wake you up, or make you feel less sick because it soaks up the booze but only time will lower your BAC in the legal sense. Eating fatty foods while drinking is the best way to prevent damage to your organs from alcohol because it slows down the absorbtion into your blood stream, making you feel like you can drink more. But honestly all that does is keep you drunk longer if you are really partying that night.
- itsbob, on 04/09/2009, -0/+1Grow up
