- zachshmack, on 10/10/2007, -3/+227This is what I don't get. When you come across something cool like this, and there's only one picture, why stop at just posting a site that has one picture? 5 seconds of Googling and you can come up with a better page...

- Hrl2k, on 10/10/2007, -2/+47I was there about two weeks ago.. Meteora is awesome. I recommend anyone visiting Greece to hit it up. ***** Athens.
Here are my pics, the third one is from the TOP of Varlaam - yes, the top, even though it requires a tram to get to.
I think my pics are better than the O.P.'s... haha.

- tizz66, on 10/10/2007, -0/+29You don't need noscript, just set your preference in Firefox. Go to Options -> Content -> Click Advanced (the one next to Enable Javascript), then uncheck the options you don't want, in this case 'move or resize existing windows'.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+32great, accomodate the sniper camper noobs...
- iirrkk, on 10/10/2007, -5/+32It was built there to discourage drinking of alcohol.
- NeoPlatonist, on 10/10/2007, -0/+25You're thinking of For Your Eyes Only, which is the 12th Bond movie...
- arcooke, on 10/10/2007, -3/+23Yes.
- Aldrenean, on 10/10/2007, -1/+20That's actually one of the more tame ones. I was there on a tour a couple summers ago, it was mind blowing. Some are on little tiny spires and have balconies that stretch out over drops of more than 200 feet. Even more impressive were the caves for the hermits. I didn't get a very good look at them, but they're all inside of a huge cavern inside a massive stone spire. It's really amazing, if you ever get a chance to go, take it.
- airiox, on 10/10/2007, -3/+21I don't know about any giant cows, but you can rest assured there are still plenty of trolls to be had.
- nodonoug, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17I can only imagine what it was like for the guys when they built that place, putting those walls so close to the edge.
- ryanwarnersteel, on 10/10/2007, -1/+18Thanks man, those pictures make it even cooler.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18I dunno about you but i dont often jump out my house window anyway. I use the door to go to and from outside - this building has the same concept.
Jumping out of the windows would be bad (admittedly more painful and take longer to hit the floor than my house).
Exiting via main door is fine. - ReFracture, on 10/10/2007, -5/+21Cool picture and all, but ***** websites that ***** with my browser.
- Tankslap, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16"Say Frank, can you get up and replace that one bad shingle on the roof today?"
- troycott, on 10/10/2007, -5/+19takes care of the jehovah's witness problem
- luckykpolice, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12Incorrect. Architecture is great.
- pukiman, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13I don't see any doors. Nothing to worry about.
- Leksikon, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13As much as I love drinking, I totally woudln't trust my coordination. I'd say it was a success.
- GeoP, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Perfect Base Against Zombie Attack
- Chordinator, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Is that some sort of zipline coming out of a window in the first picture? What a ride that must be...
- presidentjapan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9You sir, must not believe in ninjas.
- chubbybubba, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11Internet access must suck.
- squoob, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8You can click on the thumbnails and get the same size photo as the one originally posted... but surely you must know that.
- middyuk, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Where do you park the car?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9As featured in "The Spy Who Loved Me", starring Roger 'eybrow' Moore, Barbara 'Ringo' Bach and Topol 'I sound like a name for a monkey'.....err Topol.
- sonicjosh, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8How dare they resize my window!
- NeoTEKK, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7He fell.
- netstorm, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8These were made to protect against the turks at the time. I was there a while back, and they truly are an awesome site. One room inside was full of monk skulls stacked up covering the walls. There are also some very beautiful paintings in some of the rooms. You can read more at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meteora
- Promantarius, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Better off disabling all of them in my opinion, not many websites would have a legitimate use for them other than to annoy the visitor or attempt to protect their content (disabling right click).
- digrboi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6see...the path DOES lead straight to god.
- drachemorder, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7The best way to deal with Jehovah's Witnesses is to draw a chalk outline of a body on your front doorstep and scatter JW pamphlets around.

- crusher2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5>>I guess theft isnt that big of an issue for them
Are you kidding?! Somebody's just stolen both their front and back gardens! - abouthere, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I'd hate to be their window cleaner.
- goffy59, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7So true!
- zeromancer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5i've been humbled by your firefox mastery. /grovel
- PenguinShogun, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4The name for the Linkin Park album was inspired by the bands trip to Meteora
- Spiffness, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Yanno, I'd just like to say that every time (20 times a day on average?) I click a digg story thats based around a single picture, the original link is either dead or slow as molasses. Lately, I've been able to just scroll down and find this 'bestpicever' mirror and it pops right up. This kind of every story comment linking would normally annoy me, but it's actually been very useful in this case. So thanks.
- logiksan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Websites that resize your window are dumb as *****. How about you design your site to support more resolutions than the one you happen to be using at this very moment.
- fenixconnektion, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Correct me if I'm wrong (it's been a few years since I've been), but isn't there some kind of staircase carved into the rock face allowing access to the monastery? Unless I'm thinking about a whole different monastery in Meteora.
- Herostratus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I've actually been there on a trip to Greece. To get up to the top there is a long wooden staircase built into the cliff face in such a way that you essentially have a 2*4 between you and 500 feet of emptiness. Pretty scary on the way up but once on top the view is amazing and there are some interesting things inside.
- polyphonic, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4no takes care of the out of shape jehovah's witness problem... my they are tenacious
- PaulOwen, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4They certainly have nothing to do with the Hellenic Ministry of the Environment - look at the raw sewage outfalls down the side of the rock!
- bashar129, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3These people were going for the same thing...but, I don't think they had the same result.
