- Akyan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+33Ok for those who want to watch a decent quality version check out the actual website, rather than youtube:
http://www.bravia-advert.com/paint/thead/
You can even download a HD version. - Artifez, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21The comments on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-NxdTdrRss&mode=related&search= are freaking hilarious. The impotent outrage is really funny. If people make art for money its the End of TEH WERLD!!!
- lava, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19Cool. I MUST SAW it last week.
- nreynolds, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14correction: that's the only way to paint a house.
- virga, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10really, only the last 6 seconds or so is a commercial. the prior ~60 or so is cinematic art, and is quite colorful.
- webtech, on 10/12/2007, -10/+20Behind the scenes:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4PwZqAHwKk&mode=related&search - jcapogna, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Maybe some people got pleasure out of watching the commercial. Sure its a commercial, but so what?
- someguyouknow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9well.... thats one way to paint a house.
- Otto, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Buried for you thinking that we give a ***** about you burying it.
- Akyan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Tell me about it, not to mention there is a much better quality version on a completely different website.
- virga, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6yeah -- watch it over at the advert site, much better quality.
i still think their superball commercial is better :) - offput, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5it's a shame contrast ratio is a worthless out of context...
- 6pintsofbitter, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6These people should be glad its an interesting advertisement and not another . . . . . .
Head On Apply Directly to the Forehead - SeptBoot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4skip to 35 seconds for the good parts, anyone have any idea how they were able to do this? were they knocking down an entire neighborhood?
- Ansible, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Cool commercial. That being said, f*ck sony and their rootkit purveying, DRM infested, compromised proprietary ass. I haven't forgotten that debacle, and I'm still not buying anything if sony's selling it.
- ElectricGrandpa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5It's not CG.
- Shorties, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Come on guys it was only a week ago that this was on the front page... this is a dupe, plain and simple. (Don't digg me down, it is true, had it been on the front page of digg over a month ago I wouldn't care but if we keep getting the same stories on digg every week its just going to get unbearable.)
http://digg.com/tech_news/The_NEW_Sony_BRAVIA_ad_is_online - ElectricGrandpa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Dude, they made sure they used all enviro friendly + non-toxic paint... Don't worry.
- JJP0223, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3You beat me too it. Umm...."Taste the Rainbow"
- GrimReeper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This ad has been on TV here in Australia not that long ago. I like the ad because I know its actually real and they didnt just CG it. Its a pitty they dont show the full version here but its still good imo.
- boyter, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I love these Bravia ad's.
The TV's are ment to be awesome too. Might have to get one. - kernokerno, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2so can you give us another concept for the ad?
please, i want to know your great ideas. - aten, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Holi ?
Festival of colors.
Wiki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holi - eecue, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3On the actual Bravia site, they explain how they did it, and how they cleaned it up afterwards. The short version is that they used non-toxic water based paints and had a big crew to help them clean it up.
- dacheetah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2We like clever comercials... If people linked to the average boring comercials we see most ad breaks, I'd digg them down, but the ones that are actually cool...
Also, in Australia, both the paint one, and the coloured bouncey balls one, appear to have a different soundtrack, and have been shortened, but they might also air the originals as well. - dacheetah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Then show your friends, but tell them not to buy the product, unless the product is worthy, in which case who cares. Besides, I've never (as far as I can recall) bought something because of a TV comercial.
- calendaegs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Precision Paint Strike.
We Paint Houses Dead. - shiftless, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I love how the paint appears to explode out of nowhere. The blue barrels they launched the paint in were digitally removed to perfection.
- Disjunto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1unfortunately along side our few "good adverts" with how all the ones that make you turn the TV off or walk away, they kind of cancel each other out
- caffiend, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I just bought a 46" Bravia about a month ago and I love it. You have to fiddle with the settings a bit to get it just right. If you have one, be sure to go into the picture settings and turn the noise filter up high and turn off the DRC setting.
- Gundabad, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Oh Bravia TVs... truly the only thing that Sony can do right in this world, and damn do they do a good job with it.
- ghostis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It's too bad a company that generates such cool commercials treats their customers like criminals and punishes their fans. I used to love and respect Sony and their products. I just cannot anymore.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1That should be a skittles commercial
- logomancer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Yo, ***** Sony.
- TheOneGreatX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1....the first rule of project mayhem is?...
- TheSaladMan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3This is quite dissapointing really, the first Bravia ad was breathtaking because they made a big point of it being all real and not computer generated. Whereas large portions of the paint explosions in this ad were done with CG.
Proof from the FX company: http://www.moving-picture.com/sony_paint - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4it is a beautiful commercial, but really doesn't have much to do with the tv. you could switch the ending of this, and the ending of the bouncing ball commercial, and no one would notice a difference or be any more informed. so, as far as art goes, it was awesome, but as far as commercials go. meh.
if you don't know which commerical i am reffering to, here's a link: http://youtube.com/watch?v=iB32Qu2OrnU - ez12a, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2i just cant help but laugh when i see that clown running for dear life.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Er, but actually, they *did* CG it. Many of the exploding aerial paint bombs are in fact CG. See upthread for details.
- igotdugout, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2the UK gets most of the best commercials.
here we just get to see lots of hot women standing around the TV like they'll have sex with you if you buy the TV or something - elastikos, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2They still used a ***** load of paint. What's the bet that the previous Bravia ad had some CG in it to enhance it that little bit.
- Dotcommer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Yo, shut the ***** up. I dont care about your opinion. No one does. The cold hard truth of life all up in yo grill.
~Dot - bekeleven, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I feel like T-rex* here- I think it's interesting and should be shared, but do I want to be manipulated so?
Dugg after much thought.

http://sonybravia.blackapplehost.com - Dotcommer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2@elastikos
no you idiot. Look it up on their website. It was all real. this one however, some CG. lol
~Dot - yujie, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3So this is where all there brain power went to!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3dont digg him down, it shows the making of the video
- beatmix01, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2this makes me want to buy a sony bravia how? no thanks... ill stick with my Samsung with a 3000:1 contrast ratio!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1webtech has to be my least favorite submitter. I ignored him but I still see his stories on the front page.
- noseeme, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3WOW! The full version of a real commercial, for FREE!!!
