I actually think I remember seeing this a year ago or so... not that I'm complaining. It's still damn impressive. - mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -7/+105Why is everyone linking to the low-res version?
Larger size: http://features.cgsociety.org/gallerycrits/199846/199846_1156997804_large.jpg (much more detail) - JaytB, on 10/12/2007, -24/+118Wauw, she still looks as real as she did some months ago in another Digg story
- malfourmed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+93Here is an article on how he did it:

- lolhax, on 10/12/2007, -2/+88Old comment when this was posted last time.
"I showed this to my brother.
Me: Hey, look at this.
Bro: Wow, I'd bang her.
Me: She's a 3D render, not a real woman.
Bro: I'd bang the rendering farm"
lmao - krinthekuz, on 09/16/2008, -11/+87damn! she's on digg like once every 2 months or so.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -26/+95I'd ***** her... real or not.
- 0crabby0, on 10/12/2007, -1/+69Doh!
The stakes have been raised...
How am I supposed to beat this with MS Paint? - fallscrape, on 10/12/2007, -3/+62http://www.albumonline.net/display.php?id=e2ae38d0
- jackspace, on 10/12/2007, -0/+51I hope he gets to meet the actress in person. That's really the best CG of a human face I have ever seen.
- GeekedAtBirth, on 10/12/2007, -2/+45He could've stopped early and he'd have Britney Spears!
- arcooke, on 10/12/2007, -2/+42Everything gets reposted here.. I just quit caring.
- eridius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+39People who keep saying this looks fake because of the skin...
If you read malfourmed's comment, you'll note that the artist said that he was going for an airbrushed photo sort of look. I think he succeeded. Yeah, the skin doesn't look photorealistic. But it *does* look like an airbrushed photo from a magazine. If you were to see this picture in a magazine with a bunch of other real ones, you wouldn't say "hey, that skin looks rendered!", you'd think it was real. - boomerxl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+38@Managore
That's not a shop, it's a picture of a woman.
This is a shop http://www.agold.co.uk/frontshop.jpg - YoDiggity2, on 10/12/2007, -3/+34Actually, she IS real:
http://img70.exs.cx/img70/6204/41c12a8c532131xx.jpg - 1337Einstein, on 10/12/2007, -1/+31A strange critique, perhaps, but her ear just doesn't seem right to me.
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -6/+33Man, at this rate... within a few years making photo-realistic faces will be easy as tweaking a few filters in Photoshop...
As it stands now, it's already greatly simplified... You really need to bow down and give credit to the experts who have spent the great time and effort to create the programs that make this possible. - endlessoul, on 10/12/2007, -4/+30Jesus Christmas, that looks incredible.
To think that the next generation of consoles or the generation after would have these graphics gets me all tingly inside.
/can't wait - fallscrape, on 10/12/2007, -4/+29>Why is everyone linking to the low-res version?

mainly because most of the caches weren't showing the image and I happened to have that one saved on my HD and thought some people would appreciate it. Also testing my script on my website (albumonline.net) - Waterrat, on 10/12/2007, -3/+27 Sure fooled me.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24interesting article... pity i still dont have any idea how he did it
- tipexy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+26I think two eastern european hookers for the afternoon and your dads camcorder are still going to be cheaper than the many months work doing it all digitally.
- JHawk24821, on 10/12/2007, -6/+30Nice to see the same old lame "OMG this s so Old!1!!!" *****.
- Fifty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21That's because the ears of the real actress that this is based on actually look like that.
Compare the ears on the model and the reference photos here: http://www.cgarena.com/freestuff/tutorials/max/songhyekyo/
Thanks to malfourmed, above, for the link! - cleverboy, on 10/12/2007, -5/+24@rhesuspieces00: Come now. This particular picture? It's totally believable.
Anyone that says it doesn't "quite" look photo-realistic is lying. If the proof was in the pudding however, it would be in a moving video of her. Even frozen in the moment of time, a 360 degree slow-motion spin would have me more impressed. The hair does seem like an obvious weak point were such a recording to be peroformed.
Max Edwin Wahyudi also did one of Natalie Portman:
http://maxedwin.cgsociety.org/gallery/310257/
A bit less believable, but still an impressive and exacting likeness. Better lighting and a background, and it would probably be utterly convincing without additional work.
His Michaelangelo is indecipherable from a photo...
but then again, that's sculpture for you.

- insovietrussia, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20Let's all get some money together and contract this guy to do Scarlett Johansson in a variety of erotic poses (nude of course).
Who's down? - denhamcoote, on 10/12/2007, -5/+20So, for the people that only joined last month? Shall they sift through 6 months' worth of articles to find the original one? It's not like I wake up in the morning and think "Gee, today I'm going to look for an article exactly 6 months old about an awesome CG model". So I for one appreciate that articles get re-submitted. If it bugs you so much why not find something more interesting for me to read? Just please don't complain when you realise that someone else submitted it 6 months ago too!
- andy6915, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Well damn, porn and nude modeling could easily be replaced in 5 years (to improve the rendering techniques even more)
with this kind technology. Given a few years to get even more realistic, you won't be able to tell the computer graphic person from a real one. At that point, nude modeling and porn could become much cheaper, because all a studio would have to do is get two graphic artists that can do this, and they're set. No having to deal with stupid models, or paying them, or cameras, or a setting, or anything. This could be a major breakthrough for porn. And if they look as good as this, if not better, then I for one will not complain one bit. - Y0tsuya, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13If I wasn't told it was rendered I never would have guessed. But upon closer examination, looks like the hair is a bit "off". Usually the hair in the front would blur the hair in the back. In this case they're given equal weight. Some strands, especially in the front, are too "light".
- CalipsoII, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14Too all those commenting on how she looks just a TINY bit off in her details:

Not Suitable for Work!
Write that next time. - georgiepiebob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12he's not really real. he's 80% plastic (developed by japan of course).
- flamingmb, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16this was on here a while back (over 6 months ago) and it fooled me. I wonder how long it took.
- xevve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11I think this rendition of Ben Kingsley that I found on the same site is even more realistic:

- khellendros1984, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Phallus name? I see no penises in the title...let me look again....nope. Still no phalluses up there.
- Karmalary, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10When I saw the title of this post I immediately thought of CG Society. Their tutorials and product reviews are just as good as the pics. And yes, these renders can take a long time on a stand-alone machine. My record was 14 days of the CPU running at 100%, doing radiosity, photon mapping, and atmospheric media.
- daveheinzel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8@foobar5892 - how about providing links to some others that you think are more realistic?
- LordLucless, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I don't think there's enough of the source material left for God to legitimately claim ownership anymore. At the very least, it's a derivative work.

You should check out his other stuff - wow. He's a Brit (no suprise there, we're talented folks) and particularly this movie:

and here's an article about the making of that movie - the movie's embedded, shouldn't be difficult to view source of the page, extract the URL and save it to watch full screen.
