- terminalpariah, on 10/10/2007, -11/+108I hate the Muslim extremists for hijacking the board as much as I hate the Christian extremists for forcing the BBC to take it down. Why is it that religious moderates never tell extremists to STFU? Aren't you ever embarrassed?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+32it was a ***** comment by a user....sheesh...have these people ever seen what else is on the internet?
a newspaper dedicated a whole article for some guy's comment....rofl - ChompTheMan, on 10/10/2007, -7/+35Oh noes my sensitive feelings were hurted! Who gives a *****? Welcome to democracy.
- saleem, on 10/10/2007, -0/+26To set the record straight: Muslims regard Jesus as one of God's prophets, one of his messengers. He is highly revered in Islam. He is, however, seen as a *man* and not an incarnation of God or equal to God.
- geekchic, on 10/10/2007, -4/+22"Um, muslims revere him as their Savior."
That might surprise most Muslims. - MasterThief117, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19This is a Republic. A true democracy in any country would be disastrous.
"The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter." - Churchill - BrokenCircle, on 10/10/2007, -3/+17Buried for inaccurate title.
- Wilddigi, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14Who's Jesus?
- pintomp3, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14not only is jesus considered a prophet in islam, he is considered one of the most important. mohammad was simply the last. jesus was the only one granted the ability to perform his own miracles, the others performed them by being a conduit. the key difference between islam and mainstream christianity (non-unitarian) is that in islam he is just a man, not the son of god or any part of a trinity.
- abatch, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13The title is needlessly loaded to attract diggs. The story isn't nearly as big of a deal as the title suggests.
- felchdonkey, on 10/10/2007, -4/+16I think we need to be reminded that in a truly free country, there's no such thing as the right to avoid being offended. That only happens in totalitarian states and Muslim nations.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+16We clearly see the difference here between Muslim fundamentalists and Christian fundamentalists. Christians fundamentalists do not strap on a bomb and blow up bus full of children when we insult Jesus.
- D3koy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11People really need to get over themselves...Here is a time when I really would like to know "What would Jesus Do?"...I'd bet he'd be cool about it, if nothing else he'd turn the other cheek
- lsatkins, on 10/10/2007, -3/+12I'm just curious how a website thinks a user comment on another site constitutes news?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -11/+18God bless you all! You can Digg me down if you want.
- thrin, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8We are ashamed. It's just that we don't really run in the same circles. And it's really hard to reason with fanatics. While there are a lot of Christians I would like to backhand, we usually don't have the chance before they do something stupid, and even if we did, it probably wouldn't help.
- oddtom, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8Thanks, man. Not my particular belief system, but the good wishes are appreciated!
- Ubersmush, on 10/10/2007, -7/+13And may the flying spaghetti monster touch you with his noodly appendage!
- GafferXL, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9Lets hope those people never find 4chan...
- kob0724, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Yea. But telling them to STFU won't do anything. Most of us just keep on doing the good stuff in hopes that our level-headedness will outshine their insanity.
- 3leggedHorse, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5The British empire would of hung Jesus or sent him to Australia.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4All of you idiots are missing the point of this article. The BBC board is notoriously for instantly scrubbing any remotely negative statement about islam. Apparently, their religious sensitivities only go one way.
- BoMEpsilon, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4To both of you: Grow up.
- alciadanet, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Jesus is a myth anyway.
- ICSU, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7They will instead cue the 'No true Scotsman' fallacy and keep pretending religion does not ***** up people's brains.
- luther70, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Muslim countries need more secularist to moderate their religion.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4 Jesus is a whole lot of people's imaginary friend.
- joel182, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Yeah, look at the arguments in Ireland, they were fighting over potatoes, not Christianity.
- diggdong, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7Well, I think jesus should help them with their iplayer. It's a bitch to log into. And doesn't work on FF.
- Zarokima, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6Mary and God were not married. If Jesus is the son of God, he is a bastard.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I'm serious when I say Thank God we ARE NOT a Democracy. I wish Bush would stop using it.
- pintomp3, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4my gardener.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -5/+8Totally agree with saleem, ever seen muslims draw cartoons about jesus wearing stuff and looking like a pig? doubt it, because the Muslims i know always tell me they beleive jesus is a prophet and they respect him as much as mohammed.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3you forgot about fox "news"
- krnldmp, on 10/11/2007, -7/+10To all religious: Get bent.
- KingErroneous, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4What if he was a bit of a bastard?
/izzard - AgarwaenUmarth, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Uh...*****.
She would've been stoned to death. - miriclaire, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2People may know what they want--what they don't know is what is going on everywhere, all the time, in every department of government; they don't know what may be affecting others that does not affect them, nor tdo they care; they don't know the international political agenda from their kitchens; they don't understand or know how the systems within government work...and on and on ad nauseum.
- bkemper, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Yeah, because everyone knows that Christians would never kill in the name of God.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2keep thinking in black and white - it will help you stay healthy and increase the ability to love and be loved
/sarcasm - jjb123, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2And... Blocked.
- hfactor, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Well, if e.g. your boss awards you the title of an *****... I´m sure you could take legal action, in any democratic country.
The problem is how to define "offending". - Suska21, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5Ramen!
- Fordi, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Dug up for being full of insight.
Seriously. What defines a good follower of any religion is to know when good sense should overcome religious teaching. - b3mus3d, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3"In particular England is a majority christian country"
did you mean *isn't*?
I live in England and we're not terribly religious from what I can tell. - jellygraph, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3well, seriously, we who use the english language really ought to sit down and agree whether bastard is an offensive word or not... it seems to live in some sort of limbo, where it is both a correct definition of a fatherless child, but at the same time, most people take it to mean "*****", if called bastard
- Stevanoski, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2And the world will hate you.
- sspooner, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Jesus may well have been as "bastard". People really stopped caring about who the father is many years ago. Maybe in the 50's it was a scandal but today no one cares. By the same yardstidk Muhammad was a "pedophile" since he married a 6 year old girl and then had sex with her at 9. That may well have been OK in those days, but by today's standards it's the signature of a sick individual. My point is that cultural standards change and so does society. I personally could not care less about any religious "icon" because I believe it's all hogwash, and frankly, those that get upset by stupid comments on web boards are far too touchy.
- satanatnmtedu, on 10/10/2007, -7/+9Uhuh, Joseph was married to Mary when Jesus was born. So, he was not a bastard - born out of wedlock. It doesn't matter if Joseph was his biological father or not. Being a bastard doesn't mean the child is fatherless. It is in relation to the marital status of the mother.
