- lucy22, on 08/14/2008, -3/+20There is always talk of Scientology being a cult. I saw the British journalist documentary not so long ago. They really harassed the guy. I came to the impression that if it was a legitimate organization, that they would not have behaved that way. When you cannot hold something up to the light for further examination, watch out. It is probably a scam of sorts.
- inajeep, on 08/14/2008, -3/+19More of an article about the movement against scientology rather than the scam itself. I guess the author is trying to balance it out.
- VKMO, on 08/14/2008, -3/+18Scientology's great -- if you prefer mumbo jumbo to rational thought, that is.
- Echota, on 01/05/2009, -2/+12"There's no imminent departure at this point."
I think they have departed and just don't know it yet. - SQLDigger, on 08/15/2008, -0/+7I don't know about imploding, but I know some of those copyrights are bound to expire eventually. I can't help but wonder what the marketing geniuses of Xenu have planned for that eventuality.
- aksn1p3r, on 08/14/2008, -6/+10yea well-balanced. Are you scientologist?
- RoflCoptah, on 08/15/2008, -0/+4isn't that religion in general sometimes?
- SQLDigger, on 08/15/2008, -0/+4I don't know, that doesn't protect the information in the old materials. It requires them to come up with something new. And since "hidden knowledge" is the bait they use to lure the rich and successful (and their money) into their cult, once it's no longer hidden, they're going to have to keep coming up with a better story every time a copyright expires. At least that's how I see it.
- cplex, on 08/15/2008, -0/+4Oh, Scientology.
- Lynx55, on 08/15/2008, -0/+3Just the Scientology defines woman and the treatment thereof, should be a sign there is a major problem here. Remember the birth of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruises' daughter? Ya.
- chubbybubba, on 08/15/2008, -1/+4It's just a matter of time before Scientology implodes.
- hansk, on 08/15/2008, -1/+4"She describes the Anonymous protesters as "a group of cyber-terrorists who've been harassing us for six months. This has been happening around the world. On a local basis, they have attempted to infiltrate our church. They've trespassed, they've graffitied our property, they routinely harass our parishioners and staff. The police department is working with us on this."
Keep up the good work Anonymous! - inactive, on 08/15/2008, -2/+5"As Scientology Expands, It Collapses Under The Weight Of Its Own *****" The more people that find out the truth about this criminal scam on people's psyches and bank accounts, the more people realize how completely and utterly ridiculous it is.
When "intelligent design" can be viewed as more "rational belief" system, your organization/religion has serious problems... - inajeep, on 08/15/2008, -0/+3
I sent a letter to the Phildelphia mag about the pro-scientology piece of drek they wrote asking if they really knew what a f'in scam scientology was. No response. - inajeep, on 08/15/2008, -0/+3Someone checked my diggs and saw I dugg the pro-anonymous and anti-sci articles. Someone needs to use the internet more. I saw balanced by trying to look a both sides even the twisted side of scientology.

Some of it's probably planted though, those guys are crafty.
Aside from that, Scientologiests have a lot of legal power, I'm sure they can manipulate copyright laws to their advantage.
I had a co-worker who is a Mason (past tense because he was a freelancer) and he showed me some of one of their books so I could help him with one of the speeches they have to memorize and recite. I'd imagine the Freemasons have run into a similar situation, since they've been around for a long time too. I know they cipher some of it, but that can't be the only way they've kept everything tight-lipped. - AirRaven, on 08/15/2008, -0/+2Why not just keep publishing new editions?
- jb12321, on 08/15/2008, -0/+1No lol. lucy22 meant if you can't look at something closely without the higher ups getting really really defensive and trying to shut you down, there's something they're trying to hide.

- TheMachine1, on 08/15/2008, -2/+3One of the most diabolical parts of religion is opposition to it can have the opposite effect. The Romans brutally killed people who were openingly Christian. They even gave the Christians the ability to denounce their faith and get a full pardon but the fact so many chose to died inspired other people to look into the "strength" that Christianity seemingly gave its followers. Unfortunately its possible hundreds or thousands of years from now Scientology could be one of the major world religions.
- RoflCoptah, on 08/15/2008, -0/+1lol im religious and now ive realized i might've birthed the dreaded 'religion' thread
- JKAL, on 08/15/2008, -1/+2All orgnised religions are mumbo jumbo, they are mainly designed to control the general sheeple population.
That is why there are so many flavours and the reason cults succeed are because there are no shortage of sheeple waiting for someone to show them "the way".
And Co$ is no different but more dangerous because they are using modern techniques that seems valid to trap their victims The way Co$ works is they get you to do "their test", this may come as a special invite only thing, or a free IQ test, or as a Personality Test or a self help survey, whatever way it is and there are many other types, but the main purpose is to get you to sit down with them and to their "test".
During this test they will pry you with questions about what makes you are sad (i.e. what makes (is making) you feel guilty)
Because everyone of us have some kind skeletons in a closet (within our own minds), the trick here is that whatever makes YOU feel guilty does not mean makes the next person feel guilty at all.
We all have individual self regulating morals and those morals you hold only apply to you, not any one else.
So for example, Tom Cruise might have confessed to something that makes him feel really guilty inside and that guilty makes him afraid everyone else will find out, but that something may be something most of would probably laugh about or just makes us go meh!
Anyway Co$ con many people to do this "test" over and over and of course they find people who are at their weakest points in life, and when they hit that mark they "council" and by council I mean they get all dirt the they can on the person (mind you the dirt is only dirt in the victims mind)
Remember these guys are trained in brainwashing and mental manipulations.
So once one has confessed all one's "most horrid sins" to these cult scum, they are in there for a long time, because they would not want Co$ to tell anyone their inner most guilty secrets, mind you we probably would not give two ***** about this deep secret sins, but what matters is the VICTIM cares and that is what Co$ look for in people.
So dismissing this as just dumb people falling for mumbo jumbo is a little too simplistic, most are people who just happened to be at their lowest and these scum take that advantage. - jb12321, on 08/15/2008, -1/+1I'm not religious, but please don't start this war.
- Eixyl, on 08/15/2008, -0/+0Scientology All The Way!
- jeremyduffy, on 08/15/2008, -2/+2People who are raised to believe without proof are poor saps who never had a chance to think for themselves. People who CHOOSE to believe without proof are idiots.
- alapoet, on 08/14/2008, -2/+1If they were truly legitimate, they could win converts with logic and reason -- and they wouldn't need to shut down the debate.
- razorsharpwit, on 08/14/2008, -6/+5
Any religion that uses science in it's name is offensive. Christian Scientists- just as offensive. - Stevenator, on 08/14/2008, -3/+1Lesseee....
Frequent digging of pro-scientology stories, sumission of a scientology-freindly PR piece out of Philadelphia...comments on pro-scilon bits...
Yup, cultist. - Stevenator, on 08/14/2008, -6/+1So scientology is legitimate because they harassed someone?
Faulty logic is faulty.
